Chapter 264

    Chapter 264

A few hours ago, Wyatt was about to knock off work and visit Neil.

Neil hadn’t been showing up at the hospitaltely, and their phone calls had let Wyatt know that Neil

wasn’t doing great, having made a few trips to the hospital himself.

Neil’s absence these past few days had Wyatt somewhat worried.

Despite some beef between him and the Pennyfeather family over Maja three years ago, Neil had kept

him on board at thepany, which offered Wyatt some sce.

Now he wanted to swing by Neil’s office and drop off a document. Carter Booth had been speaking for

Neil these past few days, which gave Wyatt a bit of a gut ache.

Carter might have been with Neil for a while, but Wyatt figured he was the one who knew Neil first.

How could a forty–something assistant boss him around now?

Thepany’s top floor was deserted by now; Wyatt saw that the office door was ajar. As he heard

Cristina Perkins‘ voice, he was about to push it open.

Cristina also worked at thepany, and Neil had assigned her a position that wasn’t too high or low.

Although she didn’t hold absolute power, she asionally participated in decision–making.

At this moment, Cristina was far from her usual virtuous and quiet self and making improper noises.

    “Carter, you’re amazing, faster.”

“You’re way better than Neil. Once we get thepany, I’ll buy you a vi.”

“Glenn is already trying to deal with Maja. Don’t worry, I willplete the task you gave me, Carter…”

Carter chuckled coldly and carried on.

Wyatt, standing outside the door, couldn’t believe his ears.

This was his friend’s office, but the people inside were his friend’s wife and assistant.

He was startled and stepped back, identally stepping on a mop and causing noise.

Immersed in pleasure, Cristina hadn’t noticed, but Carter, still somewhat sober, had his gaze

    sharpened.

    “Who’s there?”

He quickly pulled his pants on and stepped out of the office; seeing no one, he frowned.

    Cristina followed him, “What’s wrong?”

Carter nced at the surveince camera not far away and sneered, “It’s nothing; I’ll go check it out.

You don’t need to worry; get Glenn to start acting immediately. Otherwise, we’ll always live in fear.”

Cristina wrapped her arms around Carter’s waist, showing a hint of girlish shyness, “Don’t worry, I’ve

    already issued the order.”

In the present, Wyatt was still waiting for Maja in the private room but was stormed in by a few

strangers and kept being force–fed alcohol. He was now starting to ck out, unable to utter a single

    plea.

The bar he had told Maja wasn’t the same bar wheren was. Though in the same district, it was still

    three hundred meters

    away.

    N?velDrama.Org owns this.

As Maja was leaving, she received a text from a stranger asking her to pick upn.

However, since the number wasn’t saved, she thought it was just someone pulling her leg.

After all, ifn was genuinely drunk and needed someone to pick him up, Carlene was back; there was

no need for her, his wife in name, to pick him up.

This message was very likely sent by Carlene herself to put pressure on her.

Maja didn’t pay it any mind and headed straight to the bar where Wyatt was.

Though the bar was pricey, it was much different from the bar wheren was.

“Please, don’t force any more alcohol on me; I won’t leak anything.”

    “Please…”

Wyatt had been force–fed to the point of unconsciousness, his vomit was all over the room, but these

people still wouldn’t let him off; it was clear they intended to kill him.

He wasn’t young anymore; he had been diagnosed with high blood pressure and was now passed out.

The surveince here had already been sabotaged; it looked like everything had been nned clearly

from the moment Wyatt walked in.

Maja pushed open the private room door; the first thing she smelled was a strong smell of alcohol. It

was everywhere in the room, not just booze but also mixed with the stench of vomit. Wyatt was lying in

    his own vomit.

Maja took a step back and dialed emergency. When the paramedics arrived, their faces were all very

    grave.

Maja’s face turned pale too, especially when Wyatt was taken away on a stretcher. His eyes were still

open but devoid of any light; it was clear there was no hope of survival.

Sure enough, after the ambnce arrived at the hospital, the doctor announced that Wyatt had died on

    the spot from alcohol poisoning.
