We didn’t exchange words as we both prepared for bed but I didn’t it was needed because I didn’t think
I actually know what I was going to start saying with her, seeing as we still felt like strangers to each
other, but I was grateful for the past few days, that was making us bridge the expanse or space
between each other… which was a really good thing. I showered really fast, my mind as expecting,

I shook my head at James as I started to speak. “That’s just absurd and I’m going to definitely
retaliate.” I said to him and watched as he shrugged his shoulders a little before ncing up from his
phone and leaning forward from the other side of my table, to ce his phone on the table as he
started to speak.
“I don’t know? I’ve always wanted you to do this, remember? But you’ve always disagreed, I guess
you’re finally seen the light.” James murmured and I let out a small snort. “It’s not even about me
seeing any fucking light, I’m just so fed up or this same thing every damn time. What did I do to
deserve all these?” I demanded thest sentence with a small scowl pointed at James, even though we
both knew none of this was his fault, nor was the reason of it happening not known to me.”
“You know the reason as to why it’s happening to you everytime.” Janes replied with a loft of his
shoulder and I red at him instantly before leaning back until I was resting my back on the back of my
seat.
It was going to end up being alright, one day, it was all going to end up being alright.
I said to myself as I stroked my fingers against the edge of my desk absentmindedly, as my mind
started to travel.
“Luca?” I heard James murmur and I nced up to stare at him, with a quiet ‘huh’ slipping oiymy lips
quietly.
“There’s a wedding party which you need to attend this evening, do you know about it?”
I let out a small groan as I lifted my hand and carded it through my hair a little, at the moment, I felt too
drained to even think of going to any kind of ce or gathering that would involve socializing for a while
now.
“What wedding party? I don’t know about any kind of wedding party and I’m most definitely not
attending. You can go ahead and make up an excuse for me, and have a gift sent to the person
tomorrow.” I said to him and I dragged my hand over my face, digging my fingers into my hands into my
eyes and massaging some spots around my eyes a little.
“About that actually. There’s a problem though.” James started to speak after a few moments and I
remained silent, not bothering to give him a reply, and after a few moments, he continued to speak.
“You can’t not attend this wedding.”
“Why?” I demanded without moving my hand off my face, and I turned my head to the side a little,
feeling it crack a little as the muscles shifted a little in that process.
“It’s by one of your generals, the really high ones. His son is getting married tomorrow and you have to
show up there.” James continued and I puffed out a breath, knowing there was no way I’d be able to
miss this particr gathering because of the whole connection between the celebrant’s father and
myself.
“Why is the invitationing in at a really short notice then?” I demanded after a moment.
“Apparently it has been sent to you about a month ago, but as expected, you missed it, which I am not
even surprised about at this point, seeing as I’ve seen just how intense your notifications can be.”
James continued to speak and ignored him until a few moments had passed, and then I started to
speak.
“So we’re both going tomorrow, at what time?”
“Oh, let’s say past eight in the night. Also, I’m not going with you.”
“What do you mean you’re noting with me?” I echoed after a moment.
“Because my presence isn’t really needed there, so I don’t have to show up there, unlike you.” He
started to exin and I felt the side of my lips start to thin into a tiny line.
“You can’t leave me to suffer there alone, we’re going together.” I said to him instantly and watched as
he breathed out augh.
“Are you kidding me man? You wouldn’t even be going there alone, you’d be attending the wedding
with your wife, dummy.” He paused and breathed out augh. “Surely you can’t expect me toe
third wheel you guys.”
And it was at that moment, that it all started to actually click in my head, and all I could echo out was a
dumbstrucked ‘Oh’.
James snickered.
