Chapter 2258
Benson and Leah rushed toward Nathan, worried that the young man might have gotten hurt from the fight.
They were relieved when they found him well. "Nathan, he is Penn''s real father," Benson said with a hint of caution in his voice. "To some extent, he''s your father-inw-but of course that is if Penn acknowledges him as her father, but still, you shouldn''t have broken his leg."
Nathan smiled at the old man. "Well," he replied confidently, "I''ll think about it when Penn really calls him her father. Besides, given how influential and powerful the Camden family is, they would have already found Penn over the past twenty years if they wanted to. They obviously have an ulterior motive toe looking for her now. It''s Cross Corporation that they are eyeing. This family is as heartless as they can get. They did not even flinch when they deserted Penn years back. Now that they''re back for her, I''m sure she won''t give them a chance. There''s no way they can be her family again."
Nathan nced quickly at Benson and Leah as he tidied his clothes.
"Not to mention, how can I just sit and watch when he is being insolent toward both of you?"
The old couple smiled in gratitude.
Their hearts warmed knowing that Nathan cared deeply for them. "We can never ask for a better son-inw."
Nathan smiled back, picking up a container of food from beside him. “I heard fish soup is good for health, so I got some for you guys. Try some." His act of kindness almost brought Benson and Leah to tears.
Although Nathan was not their biological son, he was as dear as a son to them. He had taken good care of the old folks and was attentive to their needs.
Seeing them standing there looking at him, Nathan hurried them into the kitchen to eat.
He waited for them to be seated before calling the Elite Eight over. They were to take turns to keep watch on Benson and Leah to make sure nothing happened again.
Nathan saw to it that necessary arrangements were made before he set out to Sally''s Seafood to have a meal with Penny, who had been waiting eagerly for him all the while.Copyright N?v/el/Dra/ma.Org.
She wondered what took him so long, but Nathan, knowing her worry, decided not to tell her the truth.
Instead, he said the traffic was congested.
Over at the hospital, Kristoff was anticipating good news from Bowen, but to his dismay, he received disquieting updates.
It turned out that Bowen, who had gone to Nathan intending to teach him a lesson, ended up with ame leg, thanks to Nathan. More ironically, Bowen was sent to the same premium hospital Kristoff was at, and they were staying right next to each other. "So you''re telling me Nathan gave Bowen a kick in the ass?" Kristoff was amused.
"Did you say he''s staying next door?"
His subordinates nodded uneasily.
Right next door, Bowen had just finished his surgery and was recovering after anesthesia.
When it finally registered that he was utterly shamed by Nathan, Bowen felt incensed.
He was the man at the helm of a world-famous consortium. Business luminaries and political dignitaries coveted connections with someone like him.
This was why he was totally not expecting such humiliating treatment—not when he came all the way to invite his daughter back to the family. Nathan beating him to a pulp was thest thing he could imagine happening to him.
I can''t let them make fun of me. I simply have to get revenge''.
Anger rose from within him and Bowen felt he regained his strength.
"You!" he cried out at his subordinate. "I want you to call South Army''smander-in-chief. Tell his secretary I want to meet him. It''s time I cash out a favor."
"Yes, Sir!"
The man moved outside to make a call immediately.
Zach was buried in some documents at his work table when an officer knocked at the door and came in.
"Commander!" he greeted.
''What is it?" Zach asked calmly.
"We got a phone call from Mr. Camden saying he has business to discuss. Should we arrange for a meeting with him?"
"Bowen Camden?" Zach put down his pen.
"We were elementary school friends,
but that was more than ten years ago. We have not met each other since then. I heard he''s pretty sessful now. What business does he have with me?"
"It seems like it''s rted to General Cross."
A frown slowly crept on Zach''s brows.
"What happened?"
The officer proceeded to fill him in on what was going on.
?
"Well..." Zach sighed, "I guess I have no choice but to get involved. Bowen will still look for help elsewhere if I refuse to see him. This will only make things worse for General Cross."
Zach paused to think. "Ask him toe over tomorrow."
"Right away, Sir."
