Chapter 1597

    Chapter 1597

Just as Colin was about to make a move, Vadim''s phone started ringing.

The sound of a mobile phone attracted everyone''s attention.

Shakily, Vadim fished out his phone to check. He then raised his head to look at Nathan. “It''s Mr.

    Davier.”

    Father!

Phoebe, who cowered in fear as she felt death''s embrace approaching suddenly felt invigorated

    when she heard his name.

With some difficulty, she managed to get up.

With a haughty smile, she looked at Nathan and said, “That''s my father on the line, Nathan. I dare

    you to kill me now!”

Valois also let out the breath he unknowingly held and sneered at Nathan.

With a gentle tone meant to provoke, Vadim addressed Nathan again. “Can I pick up the phone?”

    Fine.

Vadim answered the phone, and in a somber voice, said, “It''s not good, Mr. Davier. General Cross

insists on getting to the bottom of this and wants to take Ms. Davier''s life.”

“Is Nathan there? Let me speak to him.” Came Mr. Davier''s voice from the other end of the line.

    “Very well.”

Vadim then gave the phone to Nathan. “Mr. Davier would like a word.”

Nathan answered the phone with a smile. “Mr. Davier.”

“Nathan,” said Clifford politely. “I''ve heard about what my daughter did. It''s my fault for not raising

my children righteously. However, I am still responsible for my daughter, and that is something that I

    cannot shake off so easily.”

Nathan pursed his lips. “Ms. Davier is an adult, and adults need to be held ountable for their

actions. You no longer have that responsibility towards her, Mr. Davier.”

Nathan''s reply only drew Clifford''s ire.

After all, his remarks served a purpose. They were to remind Nathan that she was still his daughter

and that on the grounds of dignity, there was no need to kill her so quickly.

Nathan, however, seemed to ignore all that. He said that Clifford was no longer responsible for the

actions of his adult daughter very flippantly.

How could Clifford keep his cool?

Inwardly, Clifford cursed. I''m obviously not directly responsible for her actions. That was just a form

    of courtesy, couldn''t you tell?

Sensing that Nathan remained unconvinced, Mr. Davier tried a more direct approach.

“Nathan, I need you to listen carefully. I only have one son and one daughter.” Clifford took a deep

breath and continued. “She was born when I was forty years old. And when you have children at

that age, you treat them as if they were jewels in your palm.”

    Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDra/ma.O(r)g!

“If her crime is undeserving of death, I can only hope that you''ll spare her life.” It was a well-known

fact that among the members of the Great Cab, Clifford Davier was the most stubborn.

He had never been willing to lower his head and show weakness, nor was he the type to beg. For

him to do so and address Nathan like this was a very rare sign of humility.

Nathan, on the other hand, did not promise to let Phoebe off the hook.

He calmly said, “Mr. Davier, Phoebe and Santiago have caused too much anguish and suffering.

This is something that cannot be so easily forgiven.”

“Otherwise, I cannot provide closure to the three dead soldiers or the victims.”

There was a hint of anger in Mr. Davier''s voice. “Are you absolutely certain?”

    “Yes.”

Mr. Davier sighed. “Very well, I understand.

Please give the phone to Vadim.”

Nathan nonchntly handed the phone to Vadim.

Cautiously, Vadim answered the call. “Mr. Davier?

    I''m listening.”

    “Yes!”

    “Mr. Davier, you mean...”

    “Yes, Mr. Davier, I understand.”

After he finished the conversation, he hung UP with an odd expression on his face.

Valois, Phoebe the others looked at Vadim expectantly.

“General Normandy? What did my brother say?”

Vadim bit his lip. Suddenly, he took out the gun he had been carrying and aimed it at Phoebe''s

    forehead.

    Bang!

The gunshot was the only thing that filled the room.

All was quiet as Phoebe finally fell to the ground, lifeless.

Her eyes were wide open and she barely had time to even blink.

Upon witnessing this, Valois thought his head was going to explode with anger. ''Are you f*cking

insane, Normandy? You just f*cking murdered my brother''s daughter!”

Vadim''s hands were shaking. All he could say was, “Mr. Davier asked me to pull the trigger.”
