    Kathryn was baffled by Anne’s injuries.


    Anthony would not beat Anne, but there was not one woman on earth who could bear such physical and


    mental torture.


    Kathryn had known Anne for a time and was informed every time Anne was injured, so it was hard not to

    Kathryn sat down in her office, and heard a knock on the door, before someone barged in without

    the world knew it.


    “I know that Anne is in the hospital. How is she?” Lucas asked.


    Kathryn realized at that very moment that Anne’s injury might be rted to the Pinnacle Academy’s


    downfall.


    Lucas had lost a lot of weight, which was reasonable for someone who had suffered as much as he did.


    “I won’t let you see her. Anthony’s men are guarding the room so you will never be able to get in,”


    Kathryn said.


    For someone Lucas’s size, the bodyguards would spot him from a distance.


    Anthony hadmanded that all injections were to be carried out by Kathryn herself and only certain


    nurses were allowed into the room. Even so, no one was allowed to wear surgical masks if they wished


    to enter the room.


    The security was so strict that not even a fly would find its way inside.


    “I don’t need to see her. I just want to talk to her on the phone. Don’t worry, I won’t cause you any


    trouble,” Lucas said, “Doctor Brown, you are a doctor. Do you really not pity Anne for what Anthony has


    put her through? Besides, you’ve known Anne for a while now. Do you really want to watch as she


    suffers?”


    Kathryn felt as though her mind had been read. “If Anthony finds out, both you and Anne will suffer.”


    “Just lend her your phone. Anthony won’t find out.”


    Kathryn began to waver. “Why would you call her? Do you have the means to help her?”


    “I want to help her.”


    Kathryn considered if agreeing to help was the right thing to do, it would mean that she was betraying


    Anthony, but at the same time, her heart ached for Anne.


    Not only was she a doctor, she was also a woman.


    “She ended up here because of me,” Lucas asked worriedly, “how is her injury?”


    Kathryn did not want to discuss the private details with him and said, “I will hand my phone to her. Keep it


    brief.”

    Anne epted the phone and saw Lucas’ number already on the screen; one touch and she would be


    able to reach him.


    “Hurry,” Kathryn urged.
