Chapter 793
“Let’s see what happens with the paternity test,” Anthony said authoritatively.
Anne’s expression darkened at his tone.
“Ms. Vallois, I’ll go back now.”
“I’ll contact you once the results are out,” Anne consoled her, “you look exhausted. You didn’t sleep
well?”
“The dog I kept went missing and I’ve been searching for it…I think it’s gone.”
Anne scowled. “How long has it been missing?”
“About a week.”
‘There’s no way to track it down, then,’ Anne thought, ‘it’s likely lost forever.”
She understood that some people kept pets to keep thempany through lonely times, so Ashlynn
had to be devastated to have lost her dog.
“Maybe someone picked it up from the streets. It’s cute, after all. Maybe it will show up someday. Don’t
be too worried.”
Ashlynn nodded and turned to leave, when Anne invited, “Ashlynn, why don’t you stay at my apartment
for the next few days?”
“Um…” Ashlynn wanted to ept her offer as she was terrified by Corentin’s presence in the city, but
she did not wish to trouble Anne.
“Hang on.” Anne took a pair of spare keys from the drawers and handed them to her. “Just take a taxi
there. It can be easily spotted.”
Ashlynn stared at the keys in her hand with tears in her eyes. “…Won’t I be a bother?”
“It’s fine. I don’t live there, anyway. Just stay there until this settles down!”
“…Thank you…”
Ashlynn felt as though Anne had seen through her fear. As she stepped out of the building, she felt
light-headed.
Her only hope was that the paternity test would prove that Corentin was not rted to the Lloyd Family.
“Why are you here?” Anne nced at Anthony, who remained seated on the couch.
She had thought that he was busy with work and could not understand how he seemed so rxed.
“The paternity test results are probably going to be the same.” He ignored her question.
“So what Corentin said is true? Ashlynn is really just paranoid?” Anne could not ept that. She was
the one who hired Ashlynn and she felt like she would have been able to tell if Ashlynn was mentally
unstable. Moreover, there had never been any asions when Ashlynn disyed any symptoms.
“And what if this Salvatore is rted to Corentin?” Anthony asked. “There’s only one logical exnation
to this: these two are rted by blood.”
Shocked, Anne came to a realization. “So you are saying that Salvatore didn’t just randomly decide to
rece Corentin, but he is a member of the Lloyd Family right from the start? Where’s the real
Corentin, then?”
“Ashlynn had talked to Cory about this and he chased her out. Looks like your family holds a lot of
secrets,” he propped his head on one hand and stared at her intently.
“My family? I want nothing to do with them,” Anne said. If the Lloyd Family refused to admit that Nigel
was one of them, she had nothing to do with the family as well. She had not addressed Cory as her
grandfather thest time they met either. “Honestly, though, if Salvatore hid Corentin away, could Cory
not notice that at all? Is it that easy to rece his son?”
“He might be aware, or maybe not,” Anthony said.

Anne scowled. “What are you saying?”
“If both Salvatore and Corentin are members of the Lloyd Family, why tell one of them to rece the
other?”
