Recalling how Yerick had wronged me before, I seized the chance for some payback. “Please let go
of my hand, or I’ll use you of harassment.”
“Oh?” Yerickughed. “Go ahead, sue me.”
He wasn’t scared at all. There was no reasoning with someone so shameless. I tried to pull my hand
away, but he didn’t release it.
Instead, he said with a smug grin, “Madeline, it’s been a while. You seem to be even more…
beautiful.”
“Get lost!” I yanked my hand again.
Yet, he refused to let go. Instead, he leaned closer, his hand still gripping mine. “Your temper is
getting worse too.”

To be shameless was to be invincible, and that was exactly what someone like Yerick did.
“Yerick, what are you doing? At a time like this, do you still have time to flirt with others? Hurry up
ande over,” someone called out from nearby.
He must have been in a hurry earlier, so there was probably something urgent. But now, Yerick
didn’t seem to be in a rush at all.
Even when someone called him, he ignored them and continued to hold my hand. “Madeline, I
heard you’re single now. Can I pursue you?”

His sister stole my fiance, and now Yerick imed that he wanted to pursue me. His audacity was

rtionship with Brandon and had no intention of getting entangled with another man.
So, I had no choice but to lift my foot and stomp on his toes to dampen Yerick’s enthusiasm. With a
pained yelp, Yerick released his grip. He started hopping around, clutching his foot.
However, I still felt unsatisfied. I gave him onest re before walking away.
“Hey, Madeline! I’ll pursue you! I like your fiery personality.” The pain didn’t make Yerick stop talking.
He actually raised his voice and started shouting in the hospital lobby.
I quickened my pace, ignoring his crazed behavior. Once inside my car, I took a moment to calm
down from the anger caused by Yerick before leaving the hospital and heading to the office.
However, before I reached the office, my phone rang. It was a call from Eden. Instantly, I recalled
the message he had sent mest night. I wondered if he was heading to see his father now.
Thinking of this, I answered the call and deliberately softened my voice. “Mr. Griffins, it’s early.”
“Did I wake you?” Eden’s tone was light and teasing.
“Is there something you need, Mr. Griffins? I deliberately avoided mentioning his message from the
night before.

Eden chuckled on the other end. “I’m heading to see my dad, Ms. Crown. Since I promised you, I’ll
make good on it. Are you stilling?”
Of course, I was going. “Sure, Mr. Griffins. Where are you? I’lle to you.”
“I’ll pick you up, Ms. Crown,” Eden replied unexpectedly
I immediately refused. “I wouldn’t want to trouble you, Mr. Griffins. Just give me the address, and I’ll
head
over now.”
Eden’s voice took on a hint of amusement as he said, “Are you trying to avoid me?”
I didn’t respond. Sometimes silence handled awkward situations better than exnations. Sure
enough, a few secondster, Eden told me to go to Sylking Sanatorium.
