Chapter 968
The man immediately lost his temper, pressing the tip of his knife against her throat. “I’ve given you
face!”
The young man quickly intervened, “Calm down, Boss! It’s not right for us to act like this when the other
party hasn’t said anything.”
This statement abruptly pulled Johnny back from his thoughts. He red at Josie, seething. “You’d
better hang in there. I won’t let you die that easily!”
Rainwater trickled down Josie’s cheeks. “If you’re so capable, let your bosse and kill me. Does he
dare?”
“Enough with the nonsense! You should have been dead long ago!” The bald man kicked her chair and
returned to ying cards under the eaves.
The rain had lessened, but the cold wind of early winter blew through, causing Josie to shiver
uncontrobly.
It seems like this bald guy has a particr disdain for me, and his boss probably dislikes me, too. So,
who in Wavery has such a strong dislike for me?
She narrowed her eyes.
On the top floor of Russell Group.
Dexter had been waiting for a long time without any news of the ne taking off, so he ordered Larry to
check on it.
“What’s the rush? Nothing can go wrong. You specifically didn’t let her take a private ne. Isn’t it
because you were worried about her being too ostentatious and getting noticed? Commercial flights
always take off.” Calvin sat leisurely to one side, looking quite interested.
Zachariah added, “What about the weather?”
“It’s just a light rain.”
With every word they spoke, Dexter’s face darkened a shade. Suddenly, Larry rushed in, panting and
struggling to form words. “M-Mr. Russell…”
Dexter’s expression changed dramatically. “Speak!”
“Someone falsely imed there was a bomb on the ne, so the flight didn’t take off.”
Larry was usually calm all year round, and it was rare to see him this flustered. Dexter was waiting for
his next sentence.
“After getting off the ne, the person was nowhere to be found.”

Calvin and Zachariah exchanged nces. No longer in the mood for tea, they both turned their
attention to Dexter.
“I’ll have the club staff look into it right away.” Calvin left the office to make a call.
“Could she have run away on her own?” Zachariah frowned.
“I’m afraid that it’s not Ms. Warren who wants to run away, but rather…” Larry’s voice trailed off as he
carefully observed Dexter.
The man’s palm mmed down on the table with force, his eyes and brows radiating an intense chill.
“Search, call the police, and mobilize the Russell family’s people. Even if we have to turn Wavery
upside down, we must find her!”
“Yes… Yes!”
“Mr. Peeple,” Dexter called out to stop the person, his eyes grim. “If it can’t be found, you’ll be the one
to answer for it!”
Larry nearly stumbled as he rushed out of the office.
Zachariah’s brows furrowed deeply. He sighed and patted Dexter’s shoulder. “Don’t worry. Perhaps it’s
just a little game she’s ying.”
Dexter’s face was taut, an image of her unexpectedly obedient behavior surfacing in his mind. I should
have known. How could she have agreed to go abroad so easily? So, she was waiting here all along!
A flicker of panic shed in his eyes. As long as she was safe, everything else was insignificant. His
only fear was her encountering danger…
The rain outside was getting heavier. Dexter looked at the pitch-ck sky outside, a sense of
foreboding washing over him.
At an abandoned construction site.
Josie endured the cold, making it through until nearly dawn.
She was in a state of both cold and heat, likely running a fever, and could faint at any moment.
The sky was gradually brightening, and the rain had stopped. Josie squinted her eyes, trying hard to
stay awake. Just then, she saw a figure slowly approaching. The person was holding an umbre,
moving with an elegant and leisurely grace.
The figure was a woman.
Johnny and hispanions immediately stepped forward and said something, after which the woman
turned to look at Josie.
