Chapter 2099
"Do you really have to toss your pills again?"
Estelle''s thumb paused on the screen of her phone as she looked up at the man standing in the
dimly lit room. A single floormp illuminated half of his strikingly handsome features, casting the
other half in shadow, making him appear both noble and ominously detached.
Outside, the sound of a winter storm whispered against the windows, the wind sweeping up flurries
of snow, the cold seeping through the panes.
Their eyes locked for a moment before Jonathan spoke in a calm voice, "I''ve been trying to figure
out why the antidote isn''t working. I even had people double-check with Lynn and Professor Bill. I''m
sure they didn''t lie to me. The serum that was tested on you, the antidote, none of it was wrong."
"I''ve been racking my brain, the medicine should work, it did for the first three days. So why did it
stop working after that?"
"There''s only one reason besides the medicine itself. The subsequent doses, you haven''t actually
been taking them!"
"Whenever it''s time to take your medicine, if I''m not around, you''d spit it out. If I''m here, you''d let the
tablet dissolve in your mouth, then ask me for water, and spit the pill into the ss when I wasn''t
looking. The pill is colorless and tasteless in water. That''s how you''ve been deceiving me for days!"
Estelle''s fingers curled tightly around her phone, her gaze dropping.
Jonathan moved closer, leaning over the couch to look down at her, "Let me guess why you refuse
to take your medicine."
"You feel guilty about Wolf, and even about all your team members. You want to stay in your dreams
to be with them, right?"
Estelle''s face was pale, her long eyshes trembling as she spoke in a hoarse voice, "Can''t I?"
Jonathan''s eyes darkened with pain, "What do you think?"
"I think it''s fine. It''s just dreaming, everyone dreams! Besides, I know the difference; they''re just
dreams. During the day, I still belong to you!"
"Do you really understand?" Jonathan lifted her chin, forcing her to look at him, "If you did, you
would know they''re all gone. Even if you meet them in your dreams every night, it won''t bring them
back. It''s not another world, it''s just your obsession."
Estelle''s eyes reddened, her face tense, "In my dreams, they are still alive!"
Jonathan stared at her in shock.

Not wanting to see that look in his eyes, Estelle pushed him away, stood up, and walked out the
door.
Jonathan sat back down on the couch, his heart cold.
The snow continued to fall, the silence in the room so profound that even the sound of the
snowkes seemed loud.
After a while, he rose in a panic and hurried outside.
The bedroom was dark, the lights off. Jonathan moved to the bedside and saw Estelle curled up on
the bed, his heart aching as if filled with ice and snow.
Hey down next to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind, his voice rough, "Don''t you
want me anymore?"
Estelle stared out at the snow, speaking softly, "I''m very lucid, not controlled by the medication. I just
want to see them in my dreams. When I wake up, I still belong to you, I still love you."
"I remember what I promised, I''ll never leave you."
Jonathan tightened his embrace, "E, the drugs can have a bacsh, splitting your mind. Maybe
one day, you''ll only want to be with yourrades, not wanting to wake up or wanting me
anymore."
Estelle shook her head, "That won''t happen, it won''t!"
"But you just walked away from me!" His voice was hoarse with emotion.
Estelle paused, then turned to face him, "I just didn''t want to argue!"
Jonathan pressed his forehead against hers, "I''d rather argue than have you turn and walk away."
Estelle pulled out a piece of paper she had been holding, "Jonathan, I saw the farewell letter you
wrote, the one you left for me."
She had intended to go out to the balcony to cool off, but on the couch, she had found his letter
ced next to the note she had left for him.
She was shaken!
And in the midst of her tumultuous emotions, she found a moment of calm.
