Skr said, “Grandma Vi has left us for good, Joe. I’ll never see her again.”
Skr felt a deep ache in her heart. ording to Aiken, Vi had passed away peacefully.
Joe’s body stiffened at the news. Sensing his reaction, Skr recounted everything she had heard
from Aiken about Vi’s final moments.
Joe’s voice was heavy as he asked, “Are you sure it was Grandma Vi?”
“I’m certain. It was Grandma Vi.” Skr nodded.
The image of Vi in the morgue was still vivid in Skr’s mind. After a brief silence, Joe pulled her
into his embrace. “Let’s go to the hotel first. We can think about how to handle
Grandma Vi’s funeralter.”
The situation surrounding the negative items was bing increasinglyplicated.
Vi’s passing had taken them both by surprise. However, Skr’s well–being was the priority.
Vi’s death was a significant blow to her.

Soon, they arrived at the hotel. It was a four–star establishment. Joe wore sunsses as they
entered, both stepping inside together.
The hotel room was tidy, with a few books and a pair of reading sses neatly ced on the/
table.
A small bag was in the corner where the suitcase was kept. Vi had very few personal belongings,
and her bag was quitepact. Inside, there were just a few articles of clothing!
The bathroom contained only the essentials, including basic toiletries and a single jar of face
cream on the counter.
This was how vi had always been during her time in the countryside. Skr flipped through
a few of the books.
These looked like they had just been purchased by Vi. They were brand new and consisted of
various literary workspletely unrted to antiques.
The hotel room was small enough that she could see the entireyout at a nce. With so few -
belongings, organizing them was quick work.
Just as she was about to tuck the books into the bags, a piece of paper slipped out from one of
them.
Skr didn’t notice at first, but Joe did. “What’s this?” he asked, picking it up.
It was a sheet of letterhead. As he unfolded it, Skr put down the book she was holding and joined
him to look.

“It’s a letter from Grandma Vi to me,” Skr said softly. The words “Skye” immediately
caught her eye.
She began to read aloud, her voice trembling.
“Skye, by the time you read this letter, I should have already passed away. Don’t be sad. A lot has
happened recently, and there are things I can’t exin or guide you through. Since learning about
your marriage to Joe, I’ve had a premonition that you two would face some challenges.
“You need to prepare yourself for a rebirth from the ashes. As for other matters, I cannot reveal
more, or it might bring harm back to you.
“The recent negative items appearing in Jipsburg are connected to my brother. His obsession runs
deep, and I won’t have the chance to meet him again in this limited time of my life.
“However, this is a trial that many people in Jipsburg must face. I’ve helped many people throughout
my life, yet I still couldn’t escape the fate of changing destiny. So, I remain alone. Fortunately,
you’ve been by my side all these years. In my heart, you are my only dear one.
“Skye, always follow your heart in everything you do. I know you are a good child. Perhaps one day,
we will have the chance to meet again.”
After finishing the letter, Skr felt a sharp sting in her nose. Before she knew it, tears were
streaming down her face.
She clutched the letter tightly and said, her voice quivering, “So Grandma Vi knew everything.
She didn’t say it, but I understand why she was silent all this time.
“She did it for us. But in the end… Grandma Vi really suffered too much in her l
