Chapter 804 No Need To Thank Me
As the chief of the Cao n, Luci had seen a lot of people over the past ten years, and as a result,
her insight had grown exponentially. Therefore, she could see at a nce that the man in front of her
was not as simple as he looked. The reason why she came to the Osmanthus Yard was that Lucas had
told her that Mr. Rookie had arrived and stayed in this ce.
Originally, she had nned to send people to call Mr. Rookie over, but sheter changed her mind. If
this he was indeed very different from others, and if he could be helpful to the Cao n, then she
certainly needed to know who he was first. However, she was still on guard against him, as she had not
yet discounted the possibility that her two uncles, who were after the position of the n chief, could
have arranged this whole thing. After all, it wasn''t the first time that something like this happened.
When she arrived at the Osmanthus Yard, she was told that Mr. Rookie had gone out. She nned to
leave ande backter, but she saw an osmanthus tree that was blossoming in the yard, so she
decided to stop for a while and enjoy the flowers.
Later, Rocky saw her admiring the flowers. At that moment, their eyes met underneath the shadow that
the flowers cast, but they didn''t say anything.
With her wit and experience, Luci immediately guessed that the man in front of her was the
legendary Mr. Rookie.
And when Rocky saw her, he could tell that Luci was not an ordinary woman and probably ady of
the Cao n.
Silence reigned between them, but their minds were filled with questions, as they analyzed and
observed each other. It was Rocky who broke the silence.
"I''m sorry, I didn''t mean to interrupt. The flowers are quite lovely, aren''t they?" Rocky said with a smile
but didn''t bother to wait for a reply. He just nodded at her, and turned away to go back to his room.
At first, Luci was caught by surprise when he suddenly appeared, so she couldn''t talk. But she was
filled with confusion when he only made a passingment and immediately turned to leave. After all,
she was the chief of the n, and most men would pay an arm and a leg just to get a moment with her.
She was confident that she was alluring and irresistible, and yet, Rocky didn''t even show interest. He
didn''t ask who she was, and he acted like he was blind to her beauty, which made her feel a little
frustrated.
"You must be Mr. Rookie," Luci said in a soft but pleasant voice. It was enough to make him stop in
his tracks and look back at her, and she suppressed a smirk when it seemed like he was about to fall
for her charms.
"Miss, do you know me?"
Rocky asked with a confused look, and his head tilted to the side as if he was trying to remember
something. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Rookie. I''m Luci Cao,"
she said in salutation. "Luci Cao...and Queenie Cao... Are you Queenie''s sister?" As soon as he
heard the name, he immediately thought of Queenie, and he was quick to ask her if they were rted
in any way.
"Yes, I''m Queenie''s elder sister," Luci said with a nod.
"Oh, you are her elder sister! It''s nice to meet you. May I know what brought you here, Miss Luci?"
Rocky asked and cupped his hands to show respect.
"I came here to see you, Mr. Rookie," Luci said bluntly. However, it didn''t escape her notice that he
called her Miss Luci instead of addressing her as Chief Luci, so he probably didn''t know that she
was the chief of the Cao n.
"You came here to see me? Why?" A bewildered expression shed across Rocky''s face.
"I''m here to thank you for saving my sister, Mr. Rookie," Luci continued in a soft and grateful voice.
"Oh, I see. Master Lucas has already thanked me, so you don''t have to thank me anymore, Miss
Luci." Rocky shook his head. The truth was that he hated small talk and pleasantries.
They fell into afortable silence, while she continued to study him. She was starting to be
impressed with him, as he had looked calm and sincere from the start until the end. Even though he
knew that she was thedy of the Cao n, she didn''t see any malicious intent in his eyes.
It was rare to see such a man, and now, she realized why Lucas spoke so highly of him. When he
looked at her, she saw respect and sincerity, unlike most people who only sought to ingratiate
themselves with her because of the Cao n. Though he looked weak, he had strong limbs and
seemed well-trained too. From her point of view, he was full of secrets, and the thought of being able to
unveil them excited her to no ends.
Rocky coughed, as he was starting to feel ufortable when he noticed that Luci had been staring
at him for a long time. She looked as if she was trying to figure out something, so he asked her bluntly,
"Do you have anything more to say, Miss Luci?"
"No. I just came here to thank you, and I also wanted to meet you in person. After all, Master Lucas
rmended you himself to take part in the Beast Master Contest, so I''m a little curious about you,"
Luci said with a charming smile.
"I already told Master Lucas that I won''t take part in the Beast Master Contest," Rocky replied firmly,
and a small frown appeared on his face.
"I know. Master Lucas told me as well. I hope that you would reconsider though. The Beast Master
Contest is held by the Timber Deity Empire every three years. If you join the contest, then I can
guarantee that you will be famous across the country. You will have a brilliant future!" Luci said
brightly, as she hoped to appeal to Rocky''s side that wanted to be famous. After all, no one would say

no to fame and fortune, right?
"No, thank you. I''m not interested in such things." Rocky truly was not interested, because if he chose
to return to the Holy Dragon Empire, he could gain even more fame, fortune, and glory than what he
could get from joining a measly contest. He could be Prince Crimson of the Holy Dragon Empire,
and how could the Beast Master Contest match up to that?
Rocky had rmended Juey to attend the Beast Master Contest because he had other ns since
the beginning, and this was just a stepping stone.
"Is that so? I think if you take this kind of attitude when you participate in the Beast Master Contest, Mr.
Rookie, you could encounter some surprises. His Royal Highness admires people like you who are
talented but indifferent to fame and wealth," Luci said once again, as she hadn''t given up yet.
"Miss Luci, you misunderstood me. I don''t have any talent. Wait! Did you just say His Royal
Highness?" Rocky eximed in surprise when he realized what she just said. ''His Royal Highness is
Woods, right?'' he thought to himself.
"Yes, I did say His Royal Highness." Luc narrowed her eyes, as she noticed that Rocky''s reaction
seemed somewhat strange.
"Will His Royal Highnesse to the Beast Master Contest?" Rocky asked suspiciously. The answer
seemed obvious, as she wouldn''t have mentioned Woods for no reason.
"The Beast Master Contest is of great importance to the royal family of the Timber Deity Empire, so His
Majesty will attend it in person. And it won''t be His Royal Highness alone, Princess Alyssa, who has
received the admiration of the entire Timber Deity Empire, will also attend," Luci answered with a
nod. At the same time, she discreetly observed the expression on Rocky''s face, as she had a feeling
that he was very interested in the prince.
