Chapter 1632 Underground Tomb
"Are you serious, old man? Will this dark, old passage lead us to Purple Immortal''s tomb?
But those strong cultivators from different sects and ns are trying to destroy those things to get into
the tomb. Are you suggesting that they''ve found the wrong ce?
Original content from N?velDrama.Org.
You have to be kidding, right?" Austin said, gaping at the old man.
None of this made sense anymore. The old man looked at Austin like he was a small child that didn''t
know anything about the world.
"The tomb those masters are attempting to break into is also Purple Immortal''s.
Purple Immortal''s tomb has two entrances, you know. Or maybe you don''t since you are too young and
naive.
The front entrance is full of danger while the back entrance is rtively safe.
Those strong cultivators are foolishly trying to get into the tomb through the front entrance.
That entrance is heavily guarded with traps and dangerous creatures. Even with hundreds of cultivators
fighting, they may all die. It is believed that only the most extraordinary cultivators can make it.
The second way to get to Purple Immortal''s tomb is the passage where we are currently standing.
Ancient people''s tombs alwayse with two entrances.
One is easy to find while the other is hidden carefully,"
the old man exined.
Even though it sounded simple, Austin didn''tpletely understand what he was saying. There was
too much excitement rushing through his head. ''Looks like I was right. This old man is not just a stall
owner.
He even knew how to find this secret passage, '' Austin thought.
"What are we waiting for? Let''s go look for treasures," Austin said, trying to walk past the old man.
However, the old man held out his arm and stopped Austin.
"Although this passage is rtively safe, it doesn''t mean we will not be attacked. When we get into the
tomb, stay close to me and don''t run around," the old man ordered. Austin sighed and stepped back.
Bringing out his old dagger, the old man threw it with precision at the stone door. It fell like shards of
ss onto the cave floor.
''If I can''t get ahead of the old man, he will get all the treasures, ''
Austin thought snidely to himself.
The old man didn''t notice the childish expression of annoyance on Austin''s face and stepped through
the stone doorway.
Austin scampered in after him. The air around them was just as dark as it had been inside the passage.
A chilly wind blew and settled and blew again. Austin had a hard time breathing because the air was
thick with dampness.
After they walked for a while, the passage opened up and the air became less stuffy. Austin''s eyes
widened in awe and he stopped in his tracks. His feet shuffled loudly against the stone floor.
''This looks like an underground world! All around me, there are several pces, spacious halls, and
limestone caves. And each conveniently has a tunnel leading to the next.
These pces could lead anywhere. This ce is more like a grand castle than a tomb. I can''t wait to
explore, '' Austin thought as he surveyed his surroundings.
He followed closely behind the old man. Every so often, they would have to stop and the old man would
furrow his brow and think of where to go next. They must have walked a dozen miles before anything
eventful happened.
As if Austin had thought it too soon and jinxed them, the sound of tumbling rocks crashed down on
them. The sound of ominousughter appeared shortly afterwards.
It sounded like theugh had belonged to some evil, scary creature.
Austin and the old man peered into the tunnel intersection but they couldn''t see anything in the endless
darkness.
"Watch out!"
The old man held Austin back once more and began looking frantically all around them. He pulled out
his old dagger once more, and an alert look was visible in his eyes.
Before Austin could ask the old man if it was safe, a strong wind began to blow from nowhere.
The old man tensed and Austin stepped up beside him, ready to fight the oing enemy.
Austin''s hands began trembling and he tried to make fists but even those shook.
A harsh cry cut through the air, making the hair on both their bodies stand on end.
"Swoosh!"
From the intersection, a shadow pounced towards them. As it drew closer, they could see it better and
start to make out what it was.
"It''s the dead monkey!
This legendary, dead creature really exists! I can''t believe it," the old man eximed in a shaky voice.
Austin noticed that his hand that was holding the old dagger was now trembling too.
As the old man looked at the dead monkey, all the color drained from his face.
As the monkey stood, it hovered three meters over them, and instead of hair, it was covered in ck
scales. The wind blowing from behind it carried the smell of death.
Its eyes narrowed with spite as it sized up its enemies. In one swipe, it extended its long ws at
Austin and the old man, trying to rip them to pieces.
Just as the monkey''s ws were about to reach the old man, the old dagger in his hand emitted a
dazzling, white light again.
"Go away, you beast!" the old man yelled at the monkey.
With the dagger in his hand, heunched himself at the monkey and began battling it.
The sound of the dagger colliding with the monkey''s ws echoed throughout the passage.
Austin backed up until his back hit one of the stone walls. He tried to watch the old man and monkey''s
battle but they were moving so fast and intricately that Austin could only see two shadows darting
around in the corridor.
Austin wanted to help the old man against the monkey, but he couldn''t. Even using his spiritual sense,
he couldn''t capture the movements of the old man and the dead monkey.
Petrified, he marveled at the power of the old man and his opponent. It was like nothing he had ever
witnessed before: two ancient beings expertly shing together.
After a while, the monkey let out a scream and staggered backwards.
Blood leaked from an area on its abdomen. The old man stood still and watched it retreat and stumble.
In a sh, it darted forward and disappeared into the darkness.
The old man remained still, panting heavily. Like Austin, he probably expected the monkey was faking
and would try to attack again when they let their guard down. However, the dead monkey didn''te
back. Once the old man had realized this, he fell backwards and clutched onto the wall. Obviously, he
had consumed too much of his energy in that fierce battle.
''This is horrible. It turns out ghosts do exist in the world, '' the old man thought.
His heart was racing with fright. Austin watched him cautiously but he didn''t assist him.
Once he had rested, he and Austin kept moving.
They passed a few empty halls and Austin began to grow anxious again. He wanted to find the
treasure. Instead, they stumbled upon a horde of crows with human faces. They took off into the air
and swooped back down at Austin and the old man. There were a hundred crows and each of them
was more powerful than a cultivator who had reached the premium stage of Divine Bridge Realm.
The old man tossed his dagger at the crows and countless dagger shadows split off of it. Each shot at
a crow like a ma and hit them, and within a few seconds, all the crows were lying dead on the
ground.
Before they had time to catch their breath, the two of them confronted a team of riders dressed in
armor. With spears in their hands, the riders charged at Austin and the old man, letting out battle cries.
Austin figured it was time that he helped the old man. He pulled out the Invincible Bow to shoot the
riders, and after that, he summoned the bronze furnace and utilized it and the four kinds of fire to burn
his enemies. Lastly, he summoned the Ten-mountain Painting. The ten mountains in the picture
materialized and protected him from the attacks of the riders as the old man fought them off.
Soon after, the old man had annihted the leftover riders using his dagger.
The dead bodies of the riders turned into ck, chilly gas and that gas floated into the air. Once it had
disappeared, there was only armor left scattered on the ground.
Austin''s mouth was once more agape. This tomb was a strange ce and he was d to be with
''I''m lucky to have followed this old man here.
If I had broken into here alone, these creatures would have already killed me.
This old man''s strength is unfathomable. He must be a master of the martial arts, '' Austinmented,
looking at the old man with a newfound admiration.
Even though Austin had a million questions he could ask, he chose to stay silent and follow the old
man further into the tomb.
After a couple hours of walking, they were stopped again. This time, it wasn''t by a creature. The whole
tomb around them had begun shaking.
Austin would have thought it was an explosion but there was no loud bang. It could have been an
earthquake...
Austin''s thoughts were cut short when the sound of cheerful exmations reached his ears.
"This is going to be very bad. Seems the masters from the different sects and ns in the East
Maind have finally broke into the tomb.
We need to hurry up.
Otherwise, we will not be able to get any precious treasures for ourselves.
We''re near the center of the tomb.
All the treasures are hidden there. Come on!" the old man yelled.
Before Austin couldprehend what was happening, the old man had run forward at full speed, and
momentster, he was nowhere to be seen.
"Hey, old man, wait for me. Don''t leave me behind."
Austin employed the Dragon Lightness, and a few secondster, he was approaching the old man. He
"Brat, the bodily movement skill you are disying is quite amazing,"
the old manplimented over his shoulder while he was running.
Austin found it difficult to believe that the old man thought fondly of him, even if it were for a moment.
He ignored this and continued to run. They ran for several minutes before the old man spoke again.
"Be quick. We''re almost there," the old man said excitedly as he sped up once again.
Unbelievably, the old man could run faster than he had been. Austin pushed his legs harder so that he
would not lose sight of him again.
At this point, the noises behind them had grown louder. More and more people were barging into the
tomb and heading towards them.
