Chapter <b>20</b>


    <b>Zara’s </b>point of view


    I tried to wash off his scent, but every time I could smell it, I could still feel his hands on my <b>body </b>as I sniffled <b>back</b>.

    “No. <b>Wait</b>! Let me just quickly throw on <b>something</b><b>,</b>” I <b>said</b>, rushing into the bedroom <b>as </b>I grabbed some clothes.


    I threw on a sports bra and pants with joggers and a T–shirt. I stood in the mirror and I noticed the mark on my neck,


    “We need to tell Mateo about what <b>happened</b>. He <b>can’t </b><b>do </b>this to you, Skye insisted as I blinked back my tears.


    “We can’t! Do you

    Paris asked, getting upset.


    I was in such a mess. I could now feel Micah’s emotions<b>, </b>and yet he couldn’t feel mine. Why did it have to happen like this? I can’t believe it.


    I got <b>concealer</b><b>, </b>covering up the mark as I looked at myself in the mirror. It was enough to hide the mark, but I also needed to make sure no one would see <b>it</b><b>.</b>


    “Sorry. After what I saw earlier, I just. I paused, opening the fridge <b>as </b>I realized 1 didn’t have enough milk.


    “I know it must be a hard scene for you,” he said as I inhaled sharply, grabbing an apple for myself and him.


    “We can go,” I said to him as I sighed heavily, about to walk past him he grabbed me by my arm, making me stop in my tracks.

    I give him a reluctant nod.


    Am not entirely sure am okay right now. I just found two men dead with their eyes out as if it is a ritual and then there’s also the fact that am carrying a mark on my <b>shoulder</b>.

    I give him a weak smile, nodding my head. “It’s nothing. I just can’t believe those people and..” I paused as he turned me to look at him


    *We will find the people who did it. I promise,” He assured me <b>as </b><b>I </b>nodded my head making my way towards the door.


    We walked to the car and 1 got in. Leaning back, I closed my eyes trying <b>to </b>control the distress Paris had.


    “We will be okay, I assured Skye and Paris as Daniel <b>got </b>into the car


    “By the way, I have something for you.” He <b>said</b>, handing me a bag as I raised my eyebrows, beckoning me to open the bag


    “Something?” I raised my eyebrows as he nodded his head.


    I slowly opened the bag and there was a <b>box </b>of a smartphone as I scoffed softly


    “Thought it would be easier tomunicate with you” His lips turned into a smile


    “Thank you,” I said, taking out the phone.


    “We should get going. The meeting will be starting soon,” he said, making his way inside the pack house while I munched on the apple I got earlier from the fridge.


    “Should we have our trainingter today?” He asked me as I chuckled <b>softly</b>, <b>shaking </b>my head. I don’t think I was in the right mind to start training after what happenedst night.


    “An attack?” Summer askeil, her eyes widening as she asked everyone in the room. I walked into the room and there was silence immediately they

    “Are you okay?” Mateo <b>asked </b>me <b>as </b>I <b>nodded </b>my head, catching <b>Micah </b>in the corner of my eye. Why was he acting like nothing happened? I inwardly asked myself.


    “Because his a coward. That’s what it is.”


    ‘He called us Kate. He wasn’t in his right mind” Paris defended him again as <b>I </b>sighed heavily, looking at Mateo


    “Yes. This is not good. We have the alphas ball tomorrow and guests are starting to arrive day and we receive such news?” Kate <b>asked</b><b>, </b>walking towards <b>Micah </b>as she folded her arms, standing right next to him.


    <b>“</b><b>This </b>is not good,” Mateo muttered softly


    “How about tightening security? We can <b>have </b>shifts and <b>patrols </b>every other two hours we can check on the pack?” Summer suggested as I looked at her going towards Mateo, as she ced her hand on top of his.


    “This is dangerous and honestly we have had more attacks since she came here,” she concluded as I swallowed hard, gulping down the lump that formed in my throat


    “Summer,” Mateo whispered to her as I pursed my lips together, looking at Micah, who seemed to be having a conversation using their <b>pack </b>link while I stood there like a fool, waiting for them to finish their conversation.


    Even though I had also marked Micah, I did not mind the link with him. <b>I </b>was just worried that I would go into heat any day if we didn’t finish the marking ceremony.


    “Let’s increase patrol hours. I want the ce where the guests will be staying guarded every second,” Micah ordered before taking Kate’s hand and bringing it to his mouth.


    I felt my <b>stomach </b>as if it was being cut in two as I clenched a fist tight.

    and you” Micah turned to me, his eyes flickering as he looked at me. He seemed distracted and his emotions were all over the ce.


    “No more runs. I don’t want my men dying because of you,” Micah ordered.


    I clenched my jaws, watching him act like nothing happened between us. I hated him for treating me like I was nothing and now using me of being the reason his men were dying,


    “Zara, I want you to help me with weing the guestster. I will ask Rita to bring the list of all the alphas <b>that </b>will be arriving,” Kate said to me as I bowed curtly bowed my head to her before she turned to Micah..


    “We need to talk,” she said to Micah before they both left the room I looked at Daniel.


    “I have to get something back at the house. Can we meetter?” I asked him and he nodded his head as I spun on my heel.


    “Zara“” Mateo shouted as Summer looked at Mateo with a raised eyebrow. She folded her arms, waiting for him <b>to </b>say something

    “Can I speak with you in private?” She cut him short before he could speak to me <b>as </b><b>I </b>sighed heavily, leaving the office straight back to my house. I just stepped out of the pack house as I felt my stomach cut even more, feeling like my <b>blood </b>was boiling and my heart was being pulled out.


    “Argh,” I groaned, holding tight to the staircase rails as I closed my eyes. My heart was pounding fast as the pain intensified.


    “Oh, fuck!” I Groaned as I closed my <b>eyes</b>.


    “That asshole. How can he do this to us” Skye cussed as I shook my head, falling to my knees while holding my stomach.


    “Ms. Zara!” Rita’s voice <b>ca</b>


    <b>came </b>as I looked up at her, tears streaming down my <b>face</b>.


    “What’s happening?” She asked me as I shook my head, tears streaming down my face as I felt everything get blurry. My head felt like my head was tightening
