Chapter 29: 5 Seconds
Furious at the thought that he avoided me using violence, I dragged my feet to his office, my sweat
dripping as I fought the urge to kick the door open.
"Alpha Derek!" I roared, almost crumpling the metal doorknob in my hands. "Can you exin what the
hell is this behind my neck?!"
Yet, instead of giving me an exnation. He didn''t respond, not even batting an eye towards my
direction. He lifted the file he was holding directly to his face as if there was a chance that I wasn''t even
breathing in the same room as he was.
I mmed the door shut, "Stop feigning innocence! You know what you did! Do you think that covering
your face would do you a favor right now?!"
"Lower your voice down-"
Seething with fury, I punched a hole in his desk, which caught his attention this time. Carefully, he
drops the file down, his gaze focused on the broken wood in front of him.
"You were intoxicated. What did you expect me to do?"
"Look at me," I taunt.
"Venus, I don''t understand the reason why you''re acting like this. Are you angry because of the bruise
behind your neck or because of what happenedst night?" He says, still not looking at me.
"Both."
"Oh? Both you say?" He chuckles. This time, He finally stares back at me, his golden eyes shifted
slightly in mere amusement. "About the bruise on your neck, if I hadn''t done that, you''d be regretting
everything the next day, and I''m not in the position to be responsible for that."
"What? You''re not... in the position to be responsible?"
I felt something stuck in my throat, but rather than that- the ce around my heart seemed to hurt
more. I took a step back. Unknowingly I even avoided his eyes.
What is this emotion? This tightness, this ... disappointment?
"Venus, listen." His soft voice reaches out, "Honestly, I don''t get why you''re acting like this. We''ve
barely met, and the first thing you did was to flirt with me. How do you want me to interpret that? Even
in anyone''s eyes, it''s obvious you have a hidden agenda with me."
"Isn''t it obvious?! It''s because you stole something from me! So how am I suddenly the bad guy here!"
"Me? Steal? From you?" He scoffs, "Are you sure you''re not mistaking me for some guy out there?"
"You-"
Hah... Does he even deserve to know this? No- Even if I did say it to him, and he doesn''t remember,
wouldn''t he justbel me as some crazy she-wolf who lusts for him?
I didn''t care anymore. All I wanted to do was to leave the room. I turned a heel and was about to leave,
but he stopped me. He closed the door immediately when I tried to open it.
"We''re not done talking yet. Tell me how exactly you thought I stole something from you." He mutters,
his breath trailing down to my neck.
"Whatever, I doubt you even remember it,"
"That''s for me to judge, now tell me."
"You won''t care! You don''t even trust me! What''s the point?!" I turned to him, pounding my finger angrily
on his chest. "All you do is doubt me, it''s already been four months, and now you''re saying we even
barely met? that you don''t want to be responsible for what we did?! why? do I disgust you-"
He didn''t even let me finish when he suddenly smashed his lips into mine, his hands on the back of my
head. I was unsure whether I should push him away. Or let him do what he wants.
But as I felt the heat spread through me, I just knew that everything was perfect. I kissed him, I kissed
him, and I kissed him, and he kept kissing me back.
I didn''t know how long the kiss went on. Only when he pulled away that my brain started to function
again.
He whispers, lifting my chin. I saw his eyes shift to his softer ones. "Calm down. You have to fix that
temper of yours."
"Why did you kiss me?"
"5 seconds,"
"5 seconds?" I asked, puzzled.
"You said you''d obey me if I touch you for that amount of time." he smirks, "If this is how I can tame that

"How many times did I tell you to manage the machine properly?! Why are you spacing out so much!" I
scolded Noah.
It''s already the 6th time I have received aint from him from the borders. Being a rank higher
than him, it was natural that i would have to answer his wrongdoings while the beta was away.
"Stop your yapping bro, who''s fault do you think it is why I can''t even focus?" Noah mutters in
annoyance.
"It''s your fault. Why are you ming other people?"
He crosses his arms, "Have you forgotten? We stayed up all night to wait for delicious food, but none of
it ever came. I''m not even sure if beta Venus was messing with us or it''s another one of her ''tests'' to
evaluate us-No wait.. why would she even test us about food?!"
This dumb*ss, I thought.
"Argh!" He shuffles his hair, "We can''t evenin to her since Alpha banned us from going to their
cest night. We could''ve died the moment we try to force our way in!"
I sighed. "Tell me about it."
The truth is, he''s not the only person frustrated about this. When we did try to confront beta Venus for
the food at midnight, we were immediately blocked by Alpha Derek.
He said, {"Don''te here next time asking for pointless stuff, do this, and you''ll answer to me
directly."}
We couldn''t even answer anything when we left like lost puppiesst night. We got back with our
stomachs crying in despair. In the end, all I could think about was how we could''ve finally eaten
something proper after all the hardships we had gone through.
I mean, don''t we deserve it seeing that beta Venus trains us to death!?
"Beta Venus didn''t even show up for the morning training. Just what the hell is going on?" He grumbles
under his breath.
"Idiot, what else could they be doing other than that?"
