Chapter 20: 4-Month-Old Grudge
*DEREK''s POV*
I watched her back as she leaves in a hurry. As soon as i heard her door room shut, the surrounding
suddenly got chilly and lonely when she wasn''t there, yet her scent still remained as if she was making
me guilty.

as dead! Aren''t i living?! i survived all this time, i don''t need people to validate my existence!"}
I sighed in frustration, i knew she was the type to throw a fit. But she looked genuinely hurt at that time.
"Fuck what the hell is wrong with me?" I rubbed my temples.
Was i too honest?
I crossed the line. I shouldn''t have judged her character without trying to know her at first. There must
be a reason why she can''t seem to express her emotions well.

My eyes squinted, knowing exactly who it was. I opened the door and saw Liam with a surprised
expression.
"Alpha Derek? Why are you here?" He asks first.
"What? This is my ce, why can''t i be here?" I crossed my arms.
"Hmm? But Alpha, Easton said you were going out to meet someone today so i expected that the Beta
was alone." He tilts his head, as if trying to find someone. "Beta Venus told to me toe here after
training, can ie in?"
That bastard Easton, why is he telling my schedule so easily to others? Well not that it matters any
more since Venus will be the only one who''ll know my schedule starting today.
But this runt goes first.
"I don''t know Liam, can youe in?"
"What?" He squints his eyes even further. "But Beta Venus-"
"She sent me to do it in her stead," I replied fast, cutting him off.
His eyes widened, "Beta Venus... sent you? the Alpha? to punish me?"
I coughed, shit that sounded totally weird i know. It sounded like Venus was ordering me around even
when i was the Alpha, and she''s basically just new in being my beta too.
"I misspoke, she told me about your training today, and i wanted to punish you myself to evaluate you."
"Really?" He asks suspiciously.
The kid was getting too annoying that i knocked on his head hard, he grunts in pain and ced his
hand on his head. He pouts, "What was that for?"
Tsk.
Looking at him now, he''ll probably get punished by Venus not just once. He''s too skinny for a werewolf,
if he doesn''t get stronger, i can''t imagine just what kind of things that woman would do to him.
Right.. I''m already being merciful by punishing this kid myself!
I red at him, "Stop asking questions! Be prepared, I''ll make you hope not to get punished after i''m
done with you."
He gulps.

Four months have passed since then.
It didn''t take long for Venus to adapt well- in fact she was doing better as expected. Though the
rtionship between her and Noah is stillplicated, it made me relief to notice that Noah somehow
forged respect towards her unconsciously. Also, I''ve been observing her all this time, and i haven''t
found anything suspicious so far. She''d get up early and sleep right away after her duties are done, as
if she was just a robot takingmands.
The worst part is, she was even colder than i am. There were moments that i noticed how she didn''t
have many emotions that she shows, other than her anger. She would often smile, but anyone could
tell that it was just an act for a show.
I sighed.
My only problem now is... i felt that she was maintaining a certain distance from me since that day we
fought.
And believe me, she''s too good in holding her grudges.
When the morning came, i immediately got up and sat up. I nced at the time, and saw that the rm
i set offst night, perfectly went off as indicated. Since Venus wakes up earlier than me- which i
suspect was because she was avoiding me, i couldn''t help myself to match her pace for once.
Slowly opening the door, i peaked to see her preparing her breakfast in the kitchen. It was that go
moment that i decided to shut the door with a loud thud to attract her attention.
She quickly notices and gapes.
"You''re early as usual." I said nonchntly as i went down the stairs. As expected, she ignored me and
continued to cook her lunch, so i just sat down in front of her and watched her cook in the process. I
wasn''t a foodie. But for some reason, i want to try her cooking so bad.
Wait a minute..
Why can''t i eat her food anyway? She''s my beta for pete''s sake.
I coughed, "Where''s my portion?"
"Excuse me?" She res at me.
"I''m your alpha, so cook for me."
I was already prepared if she ever gets an attitude again, but this time- i was surprised when she just
faked a smile and carefully ced down the spat.
"Alpha? It''s 4 am in the morning. What time am i expected to be doing beta work?" She asks.
My eyebrow raised, confused. "6 am, why?"
"Exactly!" She shouts suddenly, "I won''t take any orders from you, much less at 4am in the morning!"
I growled, "Why can''t you?! it''s just cooking for me, what''s the big deal anyway!"
"I''m not a fool Alpha Derek, you always wake up at 5pm, and you''re suddenly telling me you woke up
mysteriously at the exact time i''m preparing breakfast? Even a kid can see what your intentions are."
Here she goes again.
My eyes darkened in anger. I wanted to scold her, teach her a lesson so bad after she just disrespected
me again yet there was an unknown force that was stopping me, telling me to forgive her and let her do
what she wants.
It''s this feeling that went on after we did the blood pact.
I fucking hate this!
"Intentions? Hah!" I scoffed, "Fine if you hate it so much, then forget it."
I stood up from my chair and grumpily went upstairs. I hated it so much that she won''t talk to me
properly, she''s still angry because of what happened four months ago. Isn''t she being too much? I
know what i said was foul for her, but to ignore me all this time?
She''s must be doing this on purpose!
