“See” she sighed. “I didn’t want to tell you this but you need to know what a mate cheating on you does
to you to understand it better. When a supernatural or a vampire, werewolf or so cheats on their human
mate, the human dies immediately after the first shock as they can’t heal like us. That’s how I found out
that you are not human. If the mates are both super naturals then the one that is cheated on gets chest
pains like the ones you got and their heart starts to be inflicted with poison. Not literal poison but it
starts to cken which you can say acts like a poison killing you bit by bit. Eventually they either go
mad or die. In most cases they die but the ones who don’t live with a feeling of emptiness in them that
never goes away. The only way to survive is move on but the poison spreading in your heart makes it
really difficult. You got to keep your head straight and try to move on.”

“How do you know all this?” I asked.
“Well Steven went through the same thing and Austin too. But Steven was way too in worse than
Austin.” She replied.
“Does that mean…?”
“Yeah he uses sex as a get away from that emptiness.” She replied looking at her hands.
“And Austin?”
“His case is a little different. His mate was a human and she chose someone else over him so he kept
away from everything to keep her alive. She would have died if he had chosen then same path as
Steven.”
“Oh my God! What am I going to do?” I asked. “If I die papa dies with me. I don’t want him to die. Why
would you tell him to be my wolf?”
“You will survive and so will your father. Grayson and I will help you through it and Steven and Austin
will too.”
“Okay.” I said. “Just one more thing. Don’t tell anyone else. I don’t want any problems in the pack
because of me. I will tell Leo myself. No one other than him, not even Aaron.”
“Why?” Carter said confused and a little angry.
“I don’t want anyone to suffer with me.” I replied smiling at him.
He hesitated for a moment but then nodded.
“But he deserves to be punished.” Caleb said outraged. “He knew the consequences of cheating
already. We are told about it from the very beginning. I can’t believe he would do such thing after
knowing that it would kill you.”
He looked disgusted.
“Maybe I wasn’t good enough for him.” I said chuckling despite myself.
That must be the case if he didn’t mind me dying.
“Oh no. Don’t you dare me yourself. You are perfect. He is just a cheating asshole.” Caleb spat.
“Thanks guys.” I said looking at the now illuminating sky.
The morning sunlight bathed the clearing with its golden rays. I should go see him for onest time.
Maybe I can get some answers from him.
“I am going to meet him today.” I said to no one in particr. “And then I will talk to Leo.”
“You should.” Grayson said. “That will help you to begin a new life when you will see with your own
eyes that there is nothing left in the old one.”
“Yeah.”
“We wille with you.” The twins said. “We will wait outside his house. I don’t want you to go there
alone knowing whatys ahead.”
“I am d that you care about me so much but I don’t want you to break your friendship because of
me. I don’t want to be the reason for the cracks in the pack.” I said to them gratefully.
“You are not the reason for anything. If someone is to me, it’s him.” Carter hissed. “He is wrong in
this case and we areing with you no matter what you say. You might not be our female third in
that bastard’s mate. Just like you said when you saved Leo, we protect our alpha no matter what. You
are important to the pack.”
I didn’t knew what to say anymore.
“Thanks.” I said trying to keep my tears at the bay. I didn’t knew they loved me so much. “I should go
freshen up. I need to catch him up before he leaves for work.”
I got up. Fortunately Ryder let me go this time.
“Meet me here after you are done with that good for nothing piece of shit. I need to show you
something.” Ryder said in our mind link as I entered the cabin.
“Okay” I replied walking towards my bedroom to get a towel and spare clothes as these were covered
in dirt.
I took a quick shower and changed into the old blue jeans and a baby pink top I left which I left here

among the other clothes for just in case situations. I tied my hair in a ponytail and exited the cabin. Alec
is still snoring his way away in my bed. That guy could literally sleep through anything. Asher used to
be like that too when he stayed. That thought brought a sharp pain to my chest. No don’t think about
him. I got to end this for once and for all. For Papa’s sake. I won’t let him die because of me.
As soon as I exited the cabin, Caleb and Carter got to their feet and so did Ryder.
“Ryder you are noting with me.” I said to him sternly.
“The hell I am.” He argued.
“Ryder please. I know you will probably end up killing him and I am not ready for him to die okay.” I
joked to talk him out of it.
“No.” he huffed. “I aming.”
“Ryder” I said seriously “stop it. Stay here. I will be back in no time.”
“You promise?” he asked a little scared.
Oh my sweet big brother.
“I promise.” I said smiling at him.
He nodded atst making me sigh in relief. He would have actually killed Asher, which I am sure about.
Even his name brings me pain now. How ironic? The name that was once the very living source of my
life has now became the very possible cause of my death.
“Can I ask you a question?” Cassidy piped jumping from one foot to another.
“Yeah.”
“How can you touch him? I mean the wolf spirit?” she asked.
“What do you mean by that? He is my older brother. Why would I not be able to touch him? Can’t any
of you touch him physically?” I asked confused.
“No we can’t. Not even we can touch him physically.” Carter said like this question has never urred
to him.
“I don’t know. I have been able to touch him from before I even was a part of the pack.”
“How can that be possible?” Grayson said.
“Can we discuss thatter? I want to be done and over with Asher as soon as I can.” I said shocking
everyone and myself. “I don’t want papa to die because of me.”
