Chapter 37: Werecrocodiles.


    From what was happening, I knew something was amiss somewhere, Absalom and Logan had traveled


    to Logans adopted parents to inform them of their iing journey and also to consult the oracle


    about what was happening and what could be done about it. I drove home after the interference and


    decided to ask my father about what happened and the reason it had to happen. I got home and went


    to look for him but I found him asleep. So I decided to see him the next day and went to my bedroom to


    sleep too.


    I opened my door to find my son, Leo curled up on the bed sleeping soundly. Not intending to wake him


    up, I walked in silently but then I saw his eyes opened and staring at me. He gave me a little smile and


    I smiled back awkwardly, I had being caught. I went and sat beside him and he pulled himself into my


    arms and looked at me. His eyes turned from its usual gray to blue and he said surprising me,


    “Mom, you were attacked by them weren''t you? The next time theye to you please let them know


    that they have gotten the wrong person. And what they wanted to prevent has in facte to pass, I


    have been born. ”


    I saw that it wasn''t my son speaking but his genie so I only nodded but he held my hand tightly and


    insisted,


    “I am serious here, please tell them toe to me directly because i am not hiding from them. ”


    I wanted to ask him about the questions I was curious about to see if he could answer them but I


    looked at him again to see that his gray eyes were back to normal. So i knew that my son was back. He


    hugged me and asked,


    “Mom, where have you being?”


    I felt guilty for leaving him the whole day when I had not even gone to the office, so I took him in my


    arms and slept beside him.


    The next day, I went looking for my father once again and saw him in his office this time. As soon as he


    saw me, he stood up, I was confused by his action till I remembered what had happened before. I


    remembered how my father used to shout at me when I was wrong and felt awkward about the sudden


    respect he was meting on me. So I asked him not to do that again and also to treat me as he used to.


    He agreed and sat down on his desk then asked me what the problem was. I narrated to him all that


    had happened and asked him why it was that way.


    He sat down quietly for a long time looking into the empty space, i felt bored so i got up and started


    rummaging through his books on the shelf. I then saw one particr book that caught my attention. But


    I couldn''t reach to it so i used the help of my genie which was rather magical, I had the book in my


    hand without doing anything. As soon as thended in my hands, my father took it and threw it back to


    its ce without even looking at where. I looked at him confused and he looked back apologetically


    and said,


    I am sorry but that book cant be seen by anyone but I had forgotten you arent anyone. But can I please


    give it to you in my own time?


    I nodded and told him I was only curious because it looked old on the outside but had very new leaves


    in it.


    He sighed and went back to the desk and told me that the news about the werecrocodiles was nothing


    new to him. Then he narrated,


    The Genasi and the werecrocodiles ruled the sea together and they had done that for a thousand


    million years. All they had to do was, if it was a genasi who was a king, he had to rule for a decade and


    leave the throne to a werecrocodile to rule for the next decade. And if anyone disobeyed this rule, he


    would be half genie and a human and it went the same way for the werecrocodiles. And they lived

    He finished narrating the story and told me to make meaning from the story. I thought about it but


    couldn''t understand, if every female genasi was killed then i was born, then it could mean that wanted


    to kill me too. But from what that werecrocodile told me, they were trying to stop me from meeting my
