    I woke up on a bed, face down. Extreme pain travelled down my back as I tried to stand. A firm hand pushed me back gently. I was turned around gently until my back rested on the bed. I took in the unfamiliar room. Kyros loomed over me, a small bottle with red liquid in his hands and a gentle smile on his face. I smiled back at him.


    He lifted my head gently and poured the substance down my throat. It tasted bitter. As soon as I swallowed, an intense burning started from my stomach upwards to my throat. I clutched my stomach as pain erupted. I screamed loudly. Hands gripped me firmly as I doubled over and threw up. Thick blood poured out of my mouth. The hands holding me left me and I felt the prick of a needle. The pain diminished gradually until I lost sense of my surroundings.


    I woke up with a pounding head and a dry throat. Two men were talking.


    "Her body rejected your blood."


    "How is that possible."


    "This usually happens when she has taken another lycans blood especially one of higher authority."


    "That can only mean my father. Fuck. I''ll mind link him immediately." footsteps approached my bedside. Jairus sat beside me.


    "How do you feel." I chuckled painfully.


    "Like shit. What of my friend?"he arched his brow in confusion.


    "The one underneath me while I was getting whipped."


    "She has been taken care of. She came around a few times to check on you."


    "I want to see her."


    "When you get better." he smiled at me. He rubbed my hands gently and I fell asleep.


    The sound of things crashing and a loud growl woke me up. Thane stood beside my bed. His eyes pitch ck and his canines out.


    "Turn her over" Kyros hurried to obey hismand but he growled loudly. The female nurse hurried over to do it. I was turned gently and a furious growl resonated.


    "Take it easy father. You''ll only scare her." Another growl. I was turned over gently and looked at the people in the room. Beta Valdus had a frown on his face, Royal chief guard Noir stood expressionless. Jairus had an annoyed look on his face and Thane had a furious one. He was visibly shaking in anger. Why though? He tried to kill me too. He turned to me sharply. He must have heard my thoughts.


    He shed his wrist with his ws and put it against my mouth.


    "Drink" I shook my head. Thest blood I had to drink almost killed me.


    "Fucking hell woman!! If I have to sh my wrist again, I''ll tie you up and force feed you."


    "You are scaring her." Jairus muttered through gritted teeth. I tried to sit up but winced at the pain. Jairus hurried over to me and assisted. Thane growled at him but he ignored him. He ced pillows behind me and rested me against them. Thane shed his wrist again and ced it against my mouth. I ced my mouth and licked gently. Thane growled. No pain. I sucked the blood into my mouth until the cut sealed. A sense of calmness rushed through me. I felt light headed then I drifted off.


    I looked at my surroundings after I woke up. I was in the alpha''s room. My back no longer ached and I felt giddy inside. I tried to sit up but a voice interrupted me.novelbin


    "Don''t move." Thane. He sat me up against the headboard. A ve pushed in a trolley with food. A te was brought to me.


    "Thank you"l mumbled. Steak. Ugh.. For some reason I couldn''t exin, I hated meat. I ate everything in the te for fear of Thane exploding in anger.


    I tried to stand up but he growled again.


    "Where are you going?"


    "ve quarters"


    "Don''t bother. You''ll sleep here tonight." I wanted to argue but decided against it. I tensed as hey beside me.


    He pulled me into his arms and I inhaled his scent. He smelled like wild berries and earth. I snuggled deeper into his chest. I fell asleep listening to his heartbeat.


    The next morning I was informed by the matron that I was to move out of the ve quarters into the alpha''s wing. I was to attend exclusively to the alpha and his son. No other duty will be assigned to me from that day there of. I went in search of Lily. I had not seen her since the incident. I searched theundry room but I didn''t see her. The other ves looked at me strangely and muttered amongst themselves. I went to the infirmary to see Kyros.


    Luckily, I saw him at the reception.


    "Esme. How are you feeling?"


    "Very fine doctor."


    "Call me Kyros." I followed him into his office.


    "You know this is your first timeing here on your two legs" he teased. I blushed.


    "I wanted to thank you."


    "For what?" he looked puzzled.


    "Healing me?"


    "I didn''t heal you but okay. You can thank me by volunteering here."


    "I can?"


    " Why not. Your friend spends her free time here anyways." my friend? He must have seen the confusion on my face.


    "Lily. But she''ll be hereter in the day."


    " ? You''ll have to ask Th.... the king. I work exclusively for him."


    "Sure.. I''lle see him this evening."


    "I''ll be leaving now." I headed back to the pce to be useful. There was nothing to be done. Thane was locked up in his study and Jairus was nowhere to be seen. I stayed in my room all day until dinner time. Thane and his son were dining in his study.


    I went to the kitchen to pick their meal. While they were eating I stood behind Thane. Jairus motioned for me to join them but I declined. They discussed about starvation in some sections and I listened with rapt attention. Jairus made some suggestions and Thane nodded to them. They seemed to have a close rtionship. I smiled as I looked at them. The conversation stopped when a knock sounded on the door.
