Chapter 55


    Edwina ran a couple of tests on Ca while she ( Ca ) waited in the ward until after thirty minutes


    when a nurse came to her.


    " Mrs Ca ke? " She asked politely, wanting to be sure she had the right person.


    Ca say upright and gave the nurse a warm smile " Yes that''s me "


    The nurse nodded " The test results are out so Doctor Johnson would like to see you in her office


    now "


    Ca sighed anxiously and got up on her feet " Okay, let''s go "


    The nurse led the way even though Ca was capable of getting to Edwina''s office without any


    help. The nurse motioned for her to go in and left immediately.


    " Hi " Ca greeted Edwina politely and went to take her seat before her ( Edwina )


    Edwina beamed with smiles as she regarded Ca for some minutes without a word which made


    Ca wondered what got her so happy.


    " Well? " Ca asked suspiciously.


    Edwinaughed " Calm down, will you? "


    Ca smiled and humored her " Okay ma''am, whenever you''re ready to spill it "


    Edwina handed the test results to her " Congrattions Mrs ke, you''re three weeks pregnant "


    Ca sat rooted to the spot, unable to utter a word as she went through the documents Edwina


    gave her.


    " I''m pregnant?! You... You mean I have his child in me?! " She asked incredulously in a whisper.


    Edwina smiled " Yes ma''am, you''re carrying his child "


    " Oh God! Finally! " She screamed and a tear slid down one cheek. She trembled slightly,


    overwhelmed by the news. This was thest thing she was expecting when she came to the


    hospital, pregnancy? That was thest thing on her mind.


    " Congrattions ma''am " Edwina said again but Ca barely heard her as she was lost in her own


    world. She nodded though. Finally, she had his child. This was moving faster than she thought. In a


    year, she would be put to bed and their contract would expire. Wow, so soon?!


    She wiped away the tear with her palm and sniffed " Thank you Edwina, thank you "


    " Not enough " Edwinaughed and stood up. She extended out her arms and Ca got the


    message. She went in for the hug and Edwina patted her on the back.


    " You have done well, you have done well " Edwina said softly and Ca smiled against her coat.


    She was sure Edwina would be a few years older than she was but Ca felt she was much more


    mature which she liked and admired so much.


    She withdrew from the hug and both of them bursted intoughter. Shortly after, Edwina saw her


    out. Laura waved at her, telling her to visit again. Edwina went with her to where Ben rested against


    the car.


    " If you need anything or have any questions, please call the number I gave you " Edwina said and


    squeezed Ca''s hands.


    Ca smiled " Sure I will, I think I like you Edwina "


    Edwinaughed " I like you too silly, now get on in the car "


    Ca echoed herughter and they said their goodbyes. Ben as usual, opened the door for her and


    she got in. She heaved a contented sigh as her back hit the soft leather.


    Ben looked at her from the rearview mirror " Is everything okay now, ma''am? "


    Ca nodded with a huge smile pasted on her face " Yes Ben, more than okay "


    Ben''s eyebrows furrowed in confusion but he knew better than to ask questions that were none of


    his concern so he concentrated on driving.


    " Is there anywhere you would like to go before going home, Ma''am? " He asked again after some


    minutes of silence.


    Ca, whose eyes was closed before, this time.


    " Okay ma''am " Ben answered and swerved the car to the direction of Liam''spany.


    Just some minutes before they got there, Ca sat up, suddenly remembering something.


    " Ben, stop the car for a minute " She said quickly and took out her small mirror. She ran some


    lipgloss over her lips and made some adjustments to the light makeup on her face.

    Ben swerved to one side of the road, wondering what was it this time. Women and their perfect


    ability to draw some unnecessary attention. Then he looked back at her curiously.


    " Is there a problem Ma''am? " He asked politely.


    " Look at me, Ben " She ordered


    Ben blushed, not able to look her in the eye.


    She red at him yfully " It''s an, Ben! "


    He looked up this time, his cheeks a bright shade of red and Ca thought he looked cute.


    " How do I look? " She asked, smiling at him.


    He scratched the back of his head, embarrassed " Uh... I... I think you look beautiful " He forced a


    cough up his throat.


    Ca''s face lighted up and she smiled " Really? I don''t look sick or anything like that? "


    He shook his head " Not at all, you''re good to go ma''am "


    " Yay! " She eximed and smiled at her reflection in the mirror. Now, she felt better than she did


    before she went to the hospital. Now, hearing the news had lifted her spirits totally.


    " Now let''s go " She said excitedly.


    Ben nodded and started the ignition again. They got to Liam''spany some minutester and he


    got out first then came to her side to open the door for her.


    She muttered her thanks and went in, head held high. Of course people stared at her, it was to be


    expected.


    " What''s she doing here? " Somedies who stood in group whispered to each other.


    " To see her husband of course " Another replied in the same hushed whisper.


    " Wow she''s lucky! " Anotherdy said dreamily and Ca smiled to herself. She took the elevator


    which led to Liam''s office. She knocked once and opened the door to reveal Liam typing furiously


    on hisptop.


    He looked up when she entered and his face broke into a huge smile.
