Chapter 134
“I told him to head back first, Sophia replied hesitantly.
Brandon’s frown deepened, “You let him go just like that, and he left you behind?”
Sophia knew he had gotten the wrong idea and hurried to exin, “No, it’s not his fault. I told him my
family wasing to take care of me, and that’s why he left.”

“Did he actually see any of your family?”
Sophia was speechless.
“He bailed without seeing anyone? Isn’t that still on him?”
“People don’t owe me their time to stick around.” Sophia couldn’t help but defend Ivan, though her
voice faltered under Brandon’s icy stare.
“So, whatever he does, he’s Mr. Perfect in your book, huh?” Brandon said.
Sophia didn’t say anything.
Brandon nced at the mess on the floor and then at her still somewhat pale face. He hadn’t forgotten
the painful expression she had when he first came in and saw her hunched over on the floor. Now
sitting by the hospital bed, he reached out to touch her forehead, “How did you end up in such a
mess?”
His palm was still slightly cool from the air.
When their skin touched, Sophia didn’t dare move. She just softly told him, “I got a bit dizzy earlier, lost
my grip while grabbing the hot water bottle, and it all came crashing down.”
Brandon looked at her, “Still feeling dizzy?”
Sophia nodded hesitantly, “Lying down has made it a bit better.”
“Anything else bothering you besides the dizziness?”
“A bit nauseous.”
Then she added, “But lying down here does feel a lot morefortable.”
As she spoke, Sophia’s hand instinctively pressed against her chest, her elbow hooking a pillow she
tried to pull in for a hug.
Brandon saw this and helped her get the pillow, making sure she could rest her head and neck on one
end and hug the other.
“Did the doctore by?” Brandon asked while adjusting the pillow for her.
“Mhm, he did,” Sophia clutched the pillow a bit tighter, “He said it’s just a minor concussion causing
some brain cell damage, a temporaryck of blood and oxygen supply. Nothing serious, just need
some rest.”
Brandon’s brows were still knitted in concern. Seeing her difort, he pressed the call button on the
wall, telling her, “Just close your eyes and rest for a bit, don’t move around.”
Sophia gave a soft “mm” and turned to lie on her side, hugging the pillow and burying her face in it. She
closed her eyes, and her whole body rxed significantly.
Brandon pulled the nket over her and turned to tidy up the chaos on the floor.
Right after he finished cleaning up, the doctor came in.
Brandon stepped forward, “Doctor, can you please check on her again? She’s still not feeling well.”
The doctor, taken aback by the seriousness on Brandon’s face, came forward and gave Sophia a
thorough examination, reviewing the afternoon’s CT and MRI reports, blood test results, and other
analyses. He confirmed it was the same issue as before and started an IV drip.
Sophia, with the IV in, dozed off but didn’t sleep deeply. Halfway through, she woke up needing to use
the bathroom.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Brandon sitting by the bed.
The room only had a chair, which he had pulled close to the bedside table to sit on, leaning his head on
his hand, eyes closed. She couldn’t tell if he was asleep or just resting his eyes.
The lights in the room were off, but the hallway lights were still on, casting a gentle glow on his
handsome profile, softening the sharpness of his features.
His expression was still calm, cool, and somewhat distant.
Even after two years of marriage, Sophia wasn’t very familiar with Brandon’s sleeping face.
Usually, she would fall asleep first, and Brandon was thest to bed and the earliest to rise, so she
seldom saw him like this.
On the rare asions when she’d get up at night, she’d wake Brandon by simply moving, as she would
be sleeping in his arms, back against him. In his half-awake state, he’d grunt a husky “Awake?” before
letting go of her waist and turning on the night light before she even turned around.
So even during her nighttime bathroom trips, Sophia rarely saw Brandon so unguarded.

This Brandon was handsome and gave a sense of security.
Though he tended to be cool and aloof, he was always considerate and steady in his actions.
No matter the time, even now after their divorce, Sophia couldn’t deny that with Brandon around, she
felt an inexplicable sense offort and stability.
Just like now.
Sophia didn’t make a sound to disturb Brandon. She carefully propped herself up on the bed, trying not
to make any noise, but still managed to rouse him.
Brandon opened his eyes, turned to look at her, and nced at the half-full IV bag.
“I need to use the bathroom.” Sophia said awkwardly, reaching to push the IV stand, but Brandon
intercepted her halfway.
“Let me do it.”
“No need, I can manage it.
This was definitely not something she could ask Brandon to help with.
Brandon gave her a look. “How are you going to manage by yourself?”
Sophia instinctively looked down, only then remembering the IV needle was in her left hand, and her
right hand was injured and couldn’t be used.
Suddenly realizing the uing awkward situation, Sophia said, “Maybe I won’t go now. It’s not that
urgent.”
Brandon nced at the IV bag, “There are two more bags to go, can you hold it?”
Sophia felt like crying. Her dder was about to burst, and she really couldn’t hold it, but even the
simple act of pulling down her pants was a struggle.
