With a flick of his wrist, he grabbed a broken tree branch and drove it into the beast’s throat. The wolf let out a pained yelp before collapsing. Blood pooled beneath its body.

Xeran gasped as energy surged through him. His veins burned, his vision blurred. The sensation lasted only seconds, but when it faded, he felt… stronger.
