Where it begins

In the quiet village of Eldermere, three friends—Tim, Roland, and Percy—were known not for their bravery, but for their uncanny ability to avoid trouble. When danger approached, they were the first to hide behind barrels, disappear into shadows, or feign illness.

One day, an old seer arrived in the village, warning of a terrible beast that would descend upon Eldermere in three nights. The villagers, terrified, prepared to flee. But fate had other plans.

As the village square emptied, Tim, Roland, and Percy found themselves trapped—backed into a corner by their own cowardice. Running away meant facing the wilds alone. Staying meant certain doom. Then, an idea struck Percy.

"What if… we fight it first? If we fail, we can still run later," he reasoned. The other two, reluctantly agreeing, armed themselves with whatever they could find—an old sword, a rusty spear, and a pot lid for a shield.

The night of the attack arrived. The ground shook as the beast, a monstrous wyvern, descended upon the village. Tim, terrified, accidentally flung his lantern at it, setting its wing ablaze. Roland, in a panic, tripped and jabbed his spear upward—straight into the beast’s underbelly. Percy, unable to move, merely stood frozen as the wyvern turned its gaze on him—only for the pot lid in his hands to reflect the moonlight, momentarily blinding the creature.

The villagers, watching from a distance, saw what they thought was an act of unparalleled bravery. Inspired, they rushed in with their weapons, finally slaying the beast.

Tim, Roland, and Percy, though still trembling, were hailed as heroes. Not because they had sought to be, but because, for once, they had faced their fear—even if by accident. And in doing so, they had saved Eldermere.
