Chapter 51 We Are Acquaintances (Part One)

As Celine walked out of the living room, she got a glimpse of Fiona walking away. She walked up to

Spencer andmented, "The energy seems quite tense. Do you not get along with her? Is it because

ofst night? Is she angry because she saw what happened?"

"It''s really none of your business," Spencer replied, his eyes darkening as he turned to her. "I got pretty

drunkst night. I don''t remember anything."

"Well, I remember. I had no idea that you were getting married until I called my mother a few days ago,"

she said, staring at him keenly. "I heard that when you were both kids, the two of you were engaged. If

things had turned out differently between us, would you still marry her?"

Spencer''s expression was grim, and he pursed his thin lips into a straight line. "There''s no room for

    many ifs. Anyway, I''m leaving."

    "Already? Where are you going?"

"I have to go to the base."

"But Spencer, I just came back yesterday..." Celine frowned and change the topic. Her demeanor

changed, and she looked at him flirtatiously. "Spencere on. I haven''t seen you in six years. There

has got to be something you want to tell me. What''s the rush? Old friends should be able to catch up."

"The wedding has caused a lot of dys, so I really have to rush to the base. We can talk about it

when I have time!" As Spencer turned to leave, Celine rushed over to him and stretched out her hand

    to stop him.

"What do you think you''re doing?" Spencer said, frowning. He took a look around, seeing the people in

the yard and blurted, "Stop it!"

Hearing this made Celine instantly giggle. "You know Spencer, you still have the exact same reactions

to my teasing. Your expression and voice haven''t changed at all. I know it. You haven''t changed. You

    still love..."

However, before she finished her sentence, Spencer coldly said, "That was a long time ago, Celine.

Let''s not talk about the past anymore." He strode away, leaving Celine standing there.

As she watched him leave, her eyes gradually became defiant and unwilling.

    Suddenly, her phone rang.

The ringing brought her back to the present. She pulled her phone out and frowned when she saw the

    caller ID. "Hello? What''s up?"

"So how do you feel to be attending your brother''s wedding?" This was followed by a man''sugh on

the other end of the phone.

"Charles, mind your own business!" said Celine, grinding her teeth.

Unfazed, Charles said, "I just wanted to check on you. I was afraid you might get hurt and forget you

need to go to work in mypany tomorrow. That''s why I called you."

    "Really? I don''t believe you."

"Come on!" Charles shed an evil smile. "By the way, I found you a special assistant."

    "Who are you talking about?"

"You will know it then," Charles said with a wicked grin. Before Celine could react, he hung up the

    phone.

    At D University.

Fiona had just got off the bus to school, and she rushed to the ssroom. She got to the corridor and

as soon as she went past the stairs, she spotted Ryan and Leona standing there.

"Ryan, I bought you some breakfast." Leona raised the bag of food and handed it to Ryan.

"I''ve already had breakfast." Ryan always had a gentle expression on his face, but today it seemed

gloomy. "I''m going back to my ssroom now."

Fiona lowered her head trying to go past them unnoticed as she decided to walk into the ssroom.

    "Hi Fiona!"

Leona called her attention the moment she saw her.

"Good morning!" Fiona stopped walking and nodded to them, avoiding Ryan''s gaze.

    "Good morning."

"It''s a gift for you, Fiona." Ryan walked up to her and gave her a box. "Happy birthday!"

Not knowing how to react, Fiona raised her head and looked at Ryan and then at Leona. She guiltily

shook her hands and said, "No, thank you."

"Please, just take it as a gift from a friend." Ryan put the cake in her hand, ignoring what she said.

Fiona gulped and said, "Thanks. Well, I have to go into my ssroom now!" She rushed away in a

    hurry.

Ryan nodded as he watched her rush away. There was only Fiona in his eyes.

Standing next to him, Leona felt like she was invisible. She was clearly embarrassing herself just now.

"Ryan, could you not be so kind to Fiona in the future?" She felt herself choking up with sobs.

Ryan looked away angrily. "Leona, I said I would be responsible for you. The thing is, you shouldn''t

    Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDra/ma.O(r)g!

interfere in my business. I really like Fiona, I always have. I want to be nice to her. You have no right to

    tell me what to do."

    Ding!

The bell rang, and an enraged Ryan turned around and left. Leona watched him walk away, and then

turned around to go back to her ssroom. She was clearly disappointed.

The students hurriedly pursued to get seats in the front of the ssroom. It was the first ss of the

    semester.

Sophia, E, and Fiona were seated in the front row having the cake. Leona was about to sit with them,

but E suddenly picked up a book and put it on the seat next to her. "Sorry, I have upied this seat.

    Please find another one."

Naturally, Sophia backed up E with a thumbs-up.

Fiona felt bad for Leona, but she was at a loss and she felt like there was nothing she could do about it.

She said nothing. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Leona silently walked to thest row.

"Good morning, wee to the D University," the teacher greeted them.

"Did we really have to iste Leona? Was that right of us?" Fiona asked, as they were on their way to

the canteen after their morning ss.

"I don''t see why not. She totally deserves it!" E snorted. "I''ve known for a while that she is a

scheming bitch. Just thinking of that night at the bar disgusts me."

Fiona wondered what happened between Leona and Ryan that night. "Leona is a victim," she blurted.

"What do you mean she''s a victim? Ryan is such a good guy. I don''t believe he would do something so

shameless," Sophia said. "I never told you this, but during the holidays, Ryan wouldn''t stop calling me.

He kept asking me if I knew what happened that night. He seemed very upset and worried, like he was

on the brink of tears. I have a feeling that Leona framed him."

E suddenly had an idea. "What if we go to the bar to check the surveince video?" she inquisitively

    said.

"That''s a great idea!" Sophia replied. "I agree. I want to know what happened."

Fiona felt very hesitant about this. Frowning, she said, "I don''t think it''s a good idea. No one said

anything. I don''t think it''s our ce to check the surveince video."

"What? How could you even say that Fiona?" Sophia asked. "Aren''t you curious to know what actually

happened that night? I know Ryan very well. He..."

Fiona interrupted her, "Well, it doesn''t change the fact that we can never be together. Anyway, let''s go

    and grab some food."

Sophia was disheartened by Fiona''sck of motivation to investigate. "Let''s go have lunch then," she

    said unenthusiastically.

After lunch, the three of them found themselves chatting in bed in their dormitory.
