Chapter 33 She Passed Out (Part One)

"Come on, don''t get us all into trouble!"

"What the hell? She can want do whatever she wants just because she knows the drillmaster?"

"Thanks to her, my voice has be hoarse. Damn it!"

The girls were so jealous when they heard Spencer. He was about to lose his cool when Fiona said,

"Mr. Cheng, I will run twentyps."

"You...!" Fiona''s indifference always got Spencer worked up. He bit back the words he was going to say

and instead pointed in a direction and ordered angrily, "Okay, go ahead! Twentyps! Now move it!"

Fiona forced herself to remain calm as she began running. Although she was in low spirits and had a

stomach ache, she was determined not to let him see her pain.

Shepleted onep after another. She didn''t know how long she had been running but her feet

were sore and she was getting weaker and weaker.

"Don''t slow down!" Spencer bellowed in the distance.

Biting her lip, Fiona tried to quicken her pace. But after a few steps, everything turned dark around her.

Her head was throbbing and it felt like the sky was spinning.

The strength had drained out of her body.

She closed her eyes and slowly copsed onto the ground.

"Oh no! Mr. Cheng, Fiona has fainted!" Sophia shrieked. She had spotted Fiona falling down on the

track suddenly. Paying no need to the drillmaster''s rules, she ran towards her friend.

"What?" Pushing Sophia aside, Spencer immediately sprinted towards Fiona. He was besides her in a

    sh. He cursed, "Damn it!

Fiona?" Not waiting for her response, he picked her up and ran to the infirmary.

Sophia made face at Spencer and ran towards Fiona only to find her in his arms. She stopped and took

out her mobile phone to make a call. "Ryan! Fiona has fainted on the track. She is being taken to the

infirmary by the drillmaster. Go and check on her!"

"What?" he eximed. He was in ss at that moment and was so shocked that he stood up

immediately. He said to the teacher on the stage, "Something urgent hase up. I need to leave." He

collected his belongings and dashed off, leaving the teacher and students looking at each other in

    dismay.

Meanwhile, Spencer had stormed into the infirmary shouting, "Where is the doctor? Quick! We need

    help. Examine her now!"

A man in a white gown rushed out. He was shocked to see a girl lying limp in the drillmaster''s arms.

    "What''s wrong?" he asked.

"She has fainted!" Spencer''s lips were pressed into a thin line. "Help her!"

"Okay, okay! Put the patient gently on the bed."

But Fiona woke up as soon as he set her down on the bed. Her face was pale and she looked weak.

She opened her eyes feebly and saw the stern expression on Spencer''s face.

"What caused the patient to faint?" the doctor inquired. There was no inspection equipment in the

infirmary, so the doctor had to question Spencer in order to understand the problem.

"She was running on the track and she passed out!" Spencer exined with his arms akimbo.

"Maybe she lost consciousness due to a temporaryck of oxygen and dehydration. You should take

her to the hospital immediately. It looks serious."

"Doctor." Fiona opened her eyes with difficulty. "I''m fine."

"Fiona!" Spencer inched closer to her.

Turning her head away, Fiona stiffened.

This tiny but dismissive movement was caught by him. He frowned and went back to his usual self.

One could sense the tension in his body. The entire infirmary seemed to be frozen.

"What''s wrong with you this time, Fiona? Spencer asked her impatiently. His fists were clenched as he

stared at her. "What? Now you don''t want to talk to me? Who do you think you are? And why are you

    so angry with me?"

Fiona closed her eyes wearily not in the mood for another argument with him. She did not speak,

    choosing to rebel silently.

"I see! You are getting bolder!" He kicked the leg of the bed furiously. She trembled as he dragged her

off the bed. "Since you are fine, you can get out of bed and go back to military training."

"Sir, please stop! The patient is still weak!" the doctor said frantically.

"Fuck off!" He cursed the doctor as he was livid at this point.

She squirmed trying to break free from his iron clutch. "What the hell are you doing?" she demanded

    angrily. "Let go of me!"

"No way in hell!" he said through gritted teeth.

    "You...!"

"Fiona? Hey, are you all right?" Ryan had juste running into the infirmary looking worried. When he

saw the situation before him, he asked suspiciously, "What happened? I heard that you fainted, Fiona.

Why are you standing there? You should be lying down. Get back on the bed!"

He reached out to steer her to the bed.

Spencer scowled and shoved Fiona behind him all of a sudden. He stared daggers at Ryan and

demanded, "Who are you?" Spencer had seen him standing with Fiona once and he didn''t think too

much of it. However, now it looked like they were close.

"Hello, sir," Ryan greeted politely, getting increasingly confused seeing Spencer holding Fiona''s arm.

He didn''tment on it and instead continued, "I''m a student of this university. I heard that Fiona had

fainted, so I came to see if she was all right." He then turned his gaze at her and asked gently, "Are you

    okay?"

Fiona shook her head. She did not want Ryan to meet Spencer but her current physical and mental

torment made it difficult for her to avoid the present situation.

"Your boyfriend?" Spencer looked at Fiona and then at Ryan with a mocking smile. He thrust her into

Ryan''s arms and said, "I''ll do you a favor!"

With that, he turned on his heel before anybody could react and left.

Ryan frowned. ''What did he mean by saying "I''ll do you a favor"?''

A sudden bout of dizziness hit her and she swayed a bit. Fortunately, Ryan managed to support her in

time. He lifted her and ced her on the bed. "Lie down," he said tenderly.

Exhaling slowly, she said, "Thank you, Ryan." Smiling gratefully, her eyes went to the half-closed door

of the infirmary. Spencer had left, but she was sure she would have to suffer afterward.

"Do you need to go to the hospital? You look pale. Let me take you there," Ryan offered.

"No, thanks." She immediately shook her head. "I''m fine, really. I''ll be all right after some rest."

"Here, please drink some warm water," the doctor interjected. A ss of water was handed to her.

"Thank you, doctor!" Ryan hurriedly took the ss of water from the doctor and put it to Fiona''s mouth.

She was embarrassed for a moment, but when she saw the concern in his eyes, she rxed a bit. She

opened her mouth to drink the water.

"Did you get into trouble with the drillmaster during the training?" he asked suddenly. "He looked very

    angry with you."

"Maybe he was cross with me because I waste today," Fiona replied, forcing a smile and feeling a bit

    guilty about lying to him.

"Anyway, I''ll stop talking now so that you can get some rest." He helped her lie down. "I''ll be right here

    with you. Don''t worry."

A sense of warmth flooded her. She nodded and closed her eyes.

The tense atmosphere in the infirmary disappeared. The doctor left quietly and only Fiona and Ryan

    were left in the room.
