Chapter 368 Fighting Back


    Early afternoon on the next day, in the fitness room of a private club


    "Hiram, I have investigated the matter. Several of the bodies found in the scene had been blown into


    pieces during the explosion and couldn''t be identified. Patrick Yan''s father found on a body''s arm a


    watch, which was exactly the same one as Patrick was wearing before. Therefore, he thought the body


    was Patrick and took it back.


    However, we still can''t confirm whether the body is Patrick or not,"


    Chad said to Hiram, who was working out on the treadmill.


    Slowing down, Hiram thought for a while before answering,"Unable to confirm means that he might still


    be alive. We didn''t find any medical record of Patrick in the hospitals during our previous investigations.


    Therefore, it means that he might have known something about the ident beforehand.


    He couldn''t have made it out alive, unless he had had an escape n."


    "Hiram, do you mean that Patrick might have known all of this in advance and therefore had decided to

    have survived that explosion, whom could he depend on, if he is to revenge on Marcia afterwards?"

    There were so many questions in this ident. Since it was impossible that Patrick woulde to


    Marcia for revenge with bare hands, he must have had someone powerful supporting him secretly.

    "Rx! What will be, will be. Besides, send more guys to follow and protect Rachel, and report


    immediately to me about anything abnormal," Hiram said, as he grabbed a bottle of water, when a


    sudden thought struck him like a lightning.

    "Good day. Where is Hiram?" Luke replied, holding a folder in his hands, as though it was a secret


    treasure he had just found out.


    "He is inside, waiting for you. Please, go in!" Chad responded to Luke with a smile.


    After Luke entered the office, he found out that Hiram was resting on a chair beside the office desk.


    Then, he went straight to the desk, put the folder on top of it and then said,"Hiram, I have already been


    familiar with all the details on the case. In addition I have also submitted materials for bail application.


    Fannie is expected to be released by the day after tomorrow at thetest."

    Hiram grabbed an unopened bottle of water and tossed it towards Luke, before saying


    approvingly,"Thanks for all your hard work. I want her to be cleared of all the charges and be released


    as soon as possible. Can that be done?"


    "Um, actually, it is possible. Since it has been a long time, the material evidences and the statements of


    the witness may not exactly be convictive, so there is still a chance. As to the witness, I am afraid we


    can''t approach her, given the fact that your father has been protecting her so well. But I have a n for

    maternity test again," Luke rified.

    tape to Luke.


    This audio tape contained a record of what Lydia had said that night when she got drunk. However,


    right now wasn''t the best time to use it against her.


    For Hiram, the most important thing was to get Fannie out fast.


    As gentle as she was, Rachel wouldn''t be able to receive any more bad news.


    "Okay! Hiram, I can get Fannie out, but are you sure that you are willing to go against your father?"


    Luke asked, as he put the tape away. Of course, this really mattered too.


    Besides from being Hiram''s father, Gavin was also the chairman of the board in Streams Company.


    Winning this case would mean that their father-son rtionship would definitely turn sour.


    "My family matters are not your concern. Everything will be fine, as long as Fannie is out," Hiram


    hissed in a low voice.


    "Okay, you can count on me. Since Fannie is injured, I think I can make full use of this fact and get her


    released quickly. Then, we will have the time to investigate into this case more thoroughly," Luke said,


    as he stood up, grabbed the folder and walked towards the door.


    However, after taking a few steps, he turned around to Hiram and said,"Hiram, H city is not safe


    recently. It seems that someone unknown is doing dirty things. Myw office has received several


    special cases rted to it. Just be careful."


    "Em," Hiram responded,"I am aware of it. Also, Kun has been investigating into it."


    After Luke left, Hiram picked up his phone to check Rachel''s location. Then, he put down the bottle of


    water, randomly grabbed a piece of clothes and walked out of the fitness room.


    In the police station


    Aftering out of the visiting room of the police station, Rachel felt relieved. Fannie looked fine and


    the injuries on her body had already been attended by a doctor.


    However, Rachel''s phone beeped just when she had gone out of the building. Seeing it was a call from


    an unknown number, Rachel picked up and said,"Hello!... Who is it?"


    "Rachel, this is Charlie. Do you have an answer to our proposal?" Charlie asked.

    Silent for a while, Rachel took a deep breath, as if to gather all the strength she had, and then


    shouted,"Charlie, tell Gavin that if he hopes to see his grandchildren ever again, he would better not

    "Yes, I am free. Since the bidding is over now, I have taken two days off." Rachel said sweetly, taking


    out a carton of milk and a sack of bread from the car''s refrigerator. Then, she checked the expiration


    date of both the milk and the bread and asked,"Did you just buy them?"


    "Yes, I bought them on my way here," Hiram answered with a gentle smile. He knew that Rachel liked


    snacks, but the normal ones were not healthy. Therefore, he bought milk and bread for his love.


    Rachel opened the packaging of the straw, inserted it into the carton and started to drink milk and eat


    bread. Just as she was deliciously enjoying her food, she noticed that the navigation system was on


    and then asked,"Where are we going?"
