Chapter 52 It Was Okay With Him

    "You wish!"

After what happened this time, Calvin decided not to let her sleep outside the bedroom again. He

reasoned that if she got into trouble or became ill again, he would have to stay home every day

    instead of going to work.

He was determined to keep her under control to prevent this from happening again, as she had

    already caused him enough trouble.

"Where should I stay then? The guest bedroom?"

"You''ll be sleeping in my bed from now on!"

Calvin motioned to the king-size bed in the main bedroom. He reasoned that if he wanted to keep

Jocelyn, the troublemaker, from causing more chaos, he would have to give up some things. He

was willing to sacrifice his bed or his wallet to help her.

Jocelyn was surprised when he told her he was giving up his bed to her.

"How generous of you to let me sleep in your bed! Where will you be staying?" Jocelyn asked, her

large, beautiful eyes wide with surprise.

"I think I can sleep on the couch," Calvin said, pointing his chin toward the couch.

"My goodness! Are you serious? Wouldn''t you mind spending the nights on the couch? "Jocelyn

    thought to herself.Content from N?velDr(a)ma.Org.

She wondered what excesses she hadmitted to cause him to be willing to give her his

    bedroom.

Jocelyn realized that she had gone too far this time because she had even let Calvin make a lot of

    compromises.

Jocelyn knew she couldn''t ask for too much from him. She suggested, after some thought, "How

about we share this bed? I''ll take the right side of the bed, and you can have the left. We won''t be

bothered by each other in this way. What do you think?"

This strategy appeared promising, but Calvin was too familiar with Jocelyn to put his trust in her. He

was aware that she always slept in an awkward position and that it was difficult for her to sleep still.

He wasn''t confident that they could share a bed without causing each other difort.

Calvin was skeptical. "But what happens if you cross the line?"

She had never met a man with such integrity, but she thought it odd that he asked a question she

    was supposed to ask.

Jocelyn then came up with a reasonable punishment. She suggested, "If anyone gets caught going

over the line, they''ll have to make breakfast for the whole family for a day. Also, the punishment is

cumtive. For example, if that person is caught crossing the line twice, they must prepare

breakfast twice. We can use photographs as evidence. We''ll use pictures as proof. What do you

    think of that?"

"That''s a good idea." Calvin agreed right away. He took off the thermometer and began reading the

    scale in the light.

Jocelyn turned her head slightly in his direction. Even though he seemed to have a faint golden

glow from the warm light, he looked still as icy and unapproachable as ever.

She thought he was handsome from the bottom of her heart and possibly the most handsome man

she had ever seen. Just looking at his face would bring her joy.

After checking the thermometer, Calvin told her, "You don''t have a fever anymore."

"Really? Why is my face still so hot?" Jocelyn asked after using her palm to feel the temperature of

    her face.

"That''s because you''re too cheeky to let the heat out of your head." Calvin pointed out the "harsh

    truth".

Jocelyn cursed him in her mind.

She couldn''t think of anything to say. Calvin''s rude remarks always irritated her, and she thought he

was the meanest person in the world.

She rolled her eyes at him because she was sick of their conversation. Her stomach then gurgled

as she felt a sudden pang of hunger.

"What''s that sound?" Calvin asked when he heard it.

"I''m hungry." Jocelyn blushed as she exined.

"Wait a minute. I''ll let them bring you dinner."

Calvin called a maid to let her prepare something for Jocelyn to eat.

The maids quickly brought Jocelyn lunch, and they all went into the bedroom with the three children.

Jeffrey ran to his mother''s side and asked, "Mommy, are you feeling better?"

Tammyy on the edge of the bed as well. She blinked her big eyes and asked, "Mommy, does your

    head still hurt?"

Sean stood next to Tammy. He couldn''t speak, but his eyes revealed that he was concerned about

Jocelyn and that he also wanted to know if she was feeling better.

"I''m fine now, and my head doesn''t hurt anymore. Thank you for caring about me, my dear."

Jocelyn felt delighted after learning that the kids were all concerned about her.

Tammy felt relieved. She patted Jocelyn on the stomach and said, "Mommy, hurry up and eat! You''ll

be energetic after you have lunch."

    "Okay."

Jeffrey gave Calvin a disgruntled look, as he didn''t believe he could be of any help here. "Mommy,

should I ask Daddy toe see you?" he couldn''t help but ask Jocelyn.

Jeffrey had promised Jocelyn that he would never contact Todd at his will, so he would always ask

    her permission first.

"No, please don''t let him know that. I just had a fever. We don''t need to tell him about it."

Jocelyn brushed off Jeffrey''s thoughts while secretly thanking him for not calling Todd without

    permission.

Calvin would have been enraged if Todd had arrived.

Jocelyn was eager to eat after the maid delivered her the meal. After a moment of thought, she

looked at Calvin, who was standing by her bed and said, "Gee, my bowl is so heavy. I can hardly

    hold it."

Jeffrey didn''t hesitate to extend his little hand to her and say, "Mommy, let me help you."

"No, thanks, honey. You can''t hold it either."

Calvin didn''t move at all, so Jocelyn nced at him again. The three children all turned to face

    Calvin at the same time.

Sean''s face was contemptuous because he thought his father was clueless when it came to caring

    for others.

"Daddy! Aunt Jocelyn is sick! She doesn''t even have the strength to hold her bowl. Why don''t you

help her? You''re such an idiot!" Sean thought to himself.

Jeffrey kept silent with a nk face. Tammy finally tilted her head and asked innocently, "Daddy, can

you help Mommy? She doesn''t feel well."

Jocelyn believed the three kids could take better care of her than Calvin. She waited for him to feed

her, but he only stared at her with his hands in his pockets. The way he looked at her meant that

"Nice try! You''re a good actress, but you should stop pretending to be vulnerable! "

Calvin said, "Your mommy is healed. She''s perfectly capable of eating on her own."

"But she doesn''t have the strength to carry a bowl!" Tammy said as she tugged on his sleeves.

Calvin cast a hesitant nce at Jocelyn and then at the three children. He had the impression that

the four of them had nned to deceive him.

The maid finally broke the tension by suggesting, "Madame, how about I help you with lunch?"

Jeffrey couldn''t stand it any longer. He thought Calvin had no idea how to care for others and that

    he wasn''t nice to Jocelyn.

Jeffrey''s temper red a little. "Mommy, I''ll call Daddy and let hime to help you eat! I''m calling

    him right now!"

"No, that won''t be necessary! I''d rather eat by myself!"

Jocelyn realized it was futile to try to win Calvin''s sympathy by acting weak and helpless when she

    was sick.

She had to eat by herself because she couldn''t count on Calvin.

But just as she reached for the bowl, someone snatched it away.

"Get out of my way, kiddo!"

Calvin kicked the two boys lying on the floor beside his feet and motioned for them to move out of

    his way.

Sean moved quickly to make room for his father after noticing he was finally taking the initiative.

Jeffrey pretended to make a phone call earlier, but he didn''t dial the number at all.

Calvin took a seat in front of Jocelyn. Jocelyn tried her hardest not tough but secretly grinned and

thought, "You''re definitely going to lose the bet, Calvin."
