Chapter 3 His Heart Melts
Chapter 3 His Heart Melts
"Jocelyn Murray, why are you trying to ruin my engagement ceremony? I can''t believe this! Security!
Get this crazy woman out of here!"
Jocelyn left the hall with a sneer as she hadpleted her task.
She dashed down the corridor, trailed by the bodyguards who were dying to catch her. As she
rounded a corner, she noticed a tall, muscr man on the phone by a wall.
Jocelyn immediately had a brilliant n. She approached the man, jumped into his arms, wrapped
her arms around his neck, and pulled his head down.
She kissed him on the lips to stop him from talking.
The bouncers thought they were just a couple when they passed by them, so they ran on without
even suspecting that she was Jocelyn.
Jocelyn let go of the man when the footsteps faded away, and only then did she get a better look at
his face. His features were exquisite, like a sculpture or God''s most intricate work of art. And he had
the quiet authority of a king, exuding dignity.
"He''s so hot!" She thought to herself.
"What are you doing?"
An offended look crossed Calvin Austin''s face as he asked through clenched teeth.
Jocelyn shuddered at the realization that the man was so pissed that he seemed to want to murder
her. There was an instant grin on her face as she continued, "Please ept my apologies, sir. I was
hoping to ask you for a favor."
"But I didn''t agree to help you."
He red at her as if he wanted her to vanish from the. He''d never met a woman who was
so daring as to kiss him without first asking his permission.
He wished he could send her to hell.
"Uh..."
It was true that Jocelyn hadn''t asked his permission beforehand, but she had only done so because
she had just been in an emergency.
Calvin was still on the phone with someone. On the other end of the line, Jocelyn heard a woman
say, "Calvin, why aren''t you answering me? Let me tell you something, you have to find a girlfriend
as soon as possible. You can even get married to a man! I''m going to throw myself off a cliff if I don''t
meet my future daughter-inw when I get home."
Jocelyn found the woman''s words amusing. She had no idea the man''s mother was urging him to
marry.
After Calvin hung up the phone, he asked angrily, "Are youughing at me?"

"I''m sorry! I shouldn''t have done that!"
Jocelyn apologized to him again and then quickly snuck away before he could punish her.
"Hey!" Calvin shouted, but she didn''t stop.
He narrowed his eyes as he stared at her back. He thought, "Wow, she sure has a lot of guts. She
had better begin hoping she won''t run into me again."
Jocelyn returned to her car after leaving the hotel and found that only her assistant, Katie Walker,
was there. She asked, "Katie, have Jeffrey and Tammye back yet?"
"Not yet!"
"Oh, crap! What happened to them?"
ording to their n, the two kids were supposed to go straight back to the car after they ruined
the wedding. Jocelyn suspected they hadn''t returned because Ernest''s bodyguards had caught
them.
Jocelyn couldn''t help feeling worried, so she and Katie started looking for the kids together.
Jeffrey and Tammy were wandering around the hotel at this time.
Surveying the rows of identical hotel room doors, Tammy pouted as she asked Jeff, "Which one is
Daddy''s room?"
"It''s right in front. Just follow my instructions when we get there."
Jeffrey had done some research to find out who their father was. He narrowed it down to a man
named Todd Garner, who was in love with Jocelyn five years ago.
Jeffery assumed that Todd was most likely to be their biological father.
"Why me again?" Tammy asked unhappily.
She had just cried in front of everyone in the ballroom. Plus, she felt sore in the butt after being
pushed to the floor by Theresa.
"I mean, look at you, you''re the adorable one! He won''t suspect a thing if you fall in front of him."
After realizing that Tammy was not willing to give in, Jeffrey kept trying to convince her. "If you
behave well, I''ll get you a lollipop."
Tammy''s eyes widened in excitement because she had a sweet tooth. "A lollipop? Yeah! I want lots
and lots of lollipops."
"Okay! I''ll buy you ten lollipops!"
"That''s not enough! I want eight lollipops!"
"Uh... Fine!"
Jeffrey thought, "It seems like you''ve been improving your math skills."
Jeffrey told Tammy to hide around the corner after they reached the room''s door. After giving her
instructions, he stayed out of sight to observe how she carried the show out.
The room door soon opened, and a man walked out a few secondster. He took a step in the
direction of Tammy.
Tammy was overjoyed when she noticed a handsome man approaching her.
"My daddy is so handsome!" She smiled happily to herself.
"Ah!"
Tammy rushed to the man and copsed, just as she and Jeffrey had nned.
Seeing that she was still some distance from the man, Tammy rolled forward several more times
until she was lying at his feet.
Jeffrey became increasingly embarrassed as he observed his sister''s exaggerated acting, as she
made it appear to be deliberate.
Calvin came to aplete stop when he saw a little girl fall down in front of him. The little girl had
the chubby and adorable face like an apple and the bright and sparkling eyes like diamonds.
He wondered why this little girl was at a hotel alone.
"Ouch! That hurts!"
Tammy was a good actor, as she quickly burst into tears. Calvin''s heart melted when he saw the
little girl''s adorable face.
With Tammy in his arms, he asked, "Is everything all right, kiddo? Where does it hurt?"
"It hurts everywhere!" Tammy indicated that her entire body hurt by pointing to her head, stomach,
and hands.
"Aw. It''s okay. Do you still feel pain? Where are your parents?" Tammy clung to Calvin''s neck as he
tried to put her down, and he eventually gave up.
"I can''t find my mom. Can you take me home?"
"Who are your mom and dad? Do you remember their phone numbers?"
Tammy shook her head sadly, her tears continuing to flow. "I can''t remember that!"
"Don''t cry. I''ll take you home now and help you find your family, okay?"
Calvin was confused by his feelings of pity for the helpless little girl.
Calvin walked away with Tammy in his arms. But he didn''t notice that the little girl resting her head
on his shoulder was making a "victory" sign to Jeffrey.
They hadpleted the first step of the n. Next, Jeffrey was going to find Jocelyn.
Unfortunately for Jeffrey, he only caught a glimpse of the man''s back, so he failed to realize that this
was not the Todd Garner he had been searching for.
Jeffrey came back just as Jocelyn and Katie were about to call the police because they couldn''t find
the kids. "Mommy! I''m back!"
Jocelyn was concerned when she saw Jeffrey. She asked worriedly, "Where is Tammy, Jeffrey?
Howe you''re all by yourself?"
"Tammy met a gentleman and she went home with him. I didn''t manage to catch up with them."
Jeffrey exined calmly.
"What? What if he''s a bad guy?"
