“An origin of a hero is a fascinating thing. Some heroes find themselves with powers by some cosmic accident, others find they were born into it, and others yet must strive and fight for the right to be a hero. For myself it happened on what I would call my best worst day.”
“My family and I were at CounterBine, a large theme park, during our spring break of 97. I was six scrawny white kid with glasses my older sister Dian, everyone called her Dede, was there with our parents it was a great day. The sun was shining with only a couple of clouds in the sky and our family was having a blast. We had already been on a bunch of rides and I could tell my parents were slightly worn out by midafternoon, but they were willing to do one last ride known as Hammer Time. It was one of those rides that goes around in a big loop and holds you in your seat via g-force. I always preferred coasters myself but Dede wanted to ride Hammer Time for the last ride so that was that we got on the ride and it would swing back and forth building up the momentum till it built up enough to go all the way.”
“At the peak of the arc the whole hammer just flew off. There was no snap, no explosion, we were connected one second and flying in the next. It was, for a moment, liberating and completely terrifying. I knew we were about to die.”
“Um Mr. Wyatt. If you Need a moment, we can take five to let you collect yourself?”
Breath in
“No mam I’ll be fine it’s just…” and out
“I’m fine now as I was saying I was falling….
“The ground was rushing up towards us I closed my eyes waiting for the end and poof all 43 individuals found ourselves on the grass with not even a scratch on us. A Supper with teleportation powers just zapped all of us out of the Hammer onto the grass. Everyone was in shock. My parents quickly gathered Dede and myself making sure we were all right. However, our ride was not the only ride that was tampered with that day as more of the park’s rides were malfunctioning all at the same time.”

“The sups were trying to keep the damage down to a bare minimum. Their whole team was there saving people with coasters going off the rails, fire breaking out, and the whole park in just complete disarray. They did their jobs saving lives, keeping people calm and safe. They were heroes.”
“I missed most of this until I looked up the footage latter in life. Looking back on it, the whole design of the CounterBine incident was, in its own twisted way, elegant. He lured in the sups with the civilians. Getting them all together nice and cozy like and then once the heroes thought they were almost finished, he set off an implosion device.”
“It caught everything in a five-mile radius and compacted it all down to the size of a one-story house the park the sups all the people that were saved my family gone in an instant. Leaving me standing there alone, in silence.”
“My powers, turned out, triggered from the fear of dying. In simple terms, I have the powers of inertia, when I am completely stopped nothing can make me move and when I move nothing can stop me. To a six-year-old child this did not matter. The only thing I knew at the time was my family was there safe hugging each other crying happy to be alive and, in an instant, just gone.”
“So, you ask why I want to become a Hero with Truemight Industries? It is to make sure I can be there to stop other children from having a worst day. So, I can Stop the Judicator from ever hurting another person again.”
“Very good Mr. Wyatt. Single tear down on the left side, zoom in on his face. Audry brilliant interruption letting the audience know we care! Spectacular performance all around people. Now get that footage into editing and get me some clips of the CounterBine fuck up. Jenny if you could take Mr. Wyatt over back to make up and get him looking more like his supper self that would be great! Okay People T minus 30 for Newton’s big Truemight debut. Get it moving people.
“Mr. Wyatt if you could follow me this way, we will quickly get your makeup fixed and if I may say masterful performance people always love a hometown sup.”
Breathe in. Breathe out.
