Elgin gave the order himself – no one’s allowed to save her kid. Who’d dare cross him?
“Doctor, doctor,” she sobbed quietly, “what should I do, I really can’t lose my baby…”
She thought, what if one day in the future, the kid’s dad shows up, how’s she gonna exin this mess?
Is she really such a loser?
“Sorry, I…I can’t go against Mr. Ramirez’s wishes either,” the doctor answered, “otherwise, he would kill
me. And he’s your husband…
Husband… pfft. Who would’ve thunk it, the title of husband gives Elgin the power to y God with her
child’s life.
“I’m getting the surgery, I’m saving my baby, my husband’s words don’t mean anything!” Letitia

Letitia took a deep breath, staring at the bright OR lights above, her vision blurring…

Letitia, like grasping at straws, suddenly found the strength, even managing to get up on the operating
table.
“My phone…” she begged the nurse, “Please, can you get my phone for me?”
This small request, the nurse could fulfill. Even though they had no clue what she was up to.
After some searching, they found Letitia’s phone in a bag in the corner.
She grabbed it with delight, tears streaming down, hands trembling, trying hard to focus on the screen.
Finally, ‘Neil” appeared, and Letitia didn’t hesitate to press the button.
The ringing sounded, each second torturously long.
Letitia’s heart was in her throat, praying Neil wasn’t too busy to pick up.
Thankfully, after what felt like ages, a warm male voice came through, “Hello, who’s this?”
Letitia’s tears flowed even harder.
She tried to control the lump in her throat, to speak clearly- Mr. Thompson, it’s me, Letitia Sanders.”
“Ms. Sanders?” Neil sounded surprised, “Hello, what’s going on?”
“Save me, please, I need your help right now,” Letitia said.
There was silence for two seconds, then the sound of hurried footsteps, “Okay, where are you?”

Neil listened intently, asionally acknowledging with a “Hmm”
Almost the moment the call ended, Letitia passed outpletely.
The phone slipped from her hand, ttering to the floor
Nel rushed to the hospital as fast as he could and quickly took Letitia away
Meanwhile, Shefas surgery had just finished.
doctor regretfully said. “Sorry, we tried our best, but we couldn’t save the baby. The mother’s body has
also suffered a lot of damage
she’ll need to stay in the hospital for recovery.”
“My poor Sh!” Mark wailed, “This is killing her!”
Elgin spoke indifferently, “Understood.”
The nurse pushed the gurney out, moving Sh to a VIP room.
Shey there sleeping, herplexion pale.
Although… Elgin felt no real affection for her, seeing her like that did stir some guilt within him.
He hadn’t protected her well enough.
“Mi Ramirez, we can’t let Letitia get away with this!” Mark said, “If she could harm Sh’s child this
time, next time she might kill Sh!”
“I’ll handle her.”
“It should be Sh who deals with her, Mr. Ramirez, it’s a woman’s…”
Elgin raised his hand, cutting off Mark, “You stay here and take good care of her”
“Mr. Ramirez, aren’t you going to wait for Sh to wake up?”
“No.”
“But… how sad she’ll be if she wakes up and you’re not here.”
Elgin’s lips curled slightly, but he turned and left nheless. He could imagine what it would be like
when Sh woke up, making a scene, fussing and threatening. It would be messy.
His heart ached too. That was his child, his blood. Elgin was never one to wear his emotions on his
sleeve, so he’d have to digest this grief alone, quietly, in his heart.
Dawn was breaking, and a new day was starting.
After Elgin had left. Mark lingered for a minute, then peeked out the door watching.
Once he was sure Elgin was really gone, he breathed a sigh of relief.
What a night of close calls. But this was just the beginning! The road ahead was long and tough!
“I need to reach out to some old gyno buddies, see if there’s a way to make Sh more fertile, Mark
muttered to himself, “That way, it’d be a lot easier for her to get pregnant!”
At the hospital entrance. Elgin stepped out, looking at the slowly rising sun on the horizon.
It was blinding, and he couldn’t help but shield his eyes
“Mr. Ramirez Ranen approached, “You haven’t rested all night, do you want to skip the office this
morning?”
“I’m going
Ranen could only nod.
Before getting into the car, Elgin thought of something else.
He looked at Ranen, “Check on Letitia for me, and report back
“Will do, Mr. Ramirez”
The car drove away from the hospital.
Elgin dropped the partition inside the car and slipped into the fresh suit Ranen had on deck.
Letitia… how dare she?!
Her father killed his, and now she’s gone and killed his kid
That grudge is gonna stick around forever, ain’t no way to wipe the te clean!
As he was nearing the Ramirez Group, his phone buzzed. Elgin picked up, “Hello?”
“Mr. Ramirez, your wife is not at the hospital!”
His eyes darkened, “What did you just say?”
“The doctor said,st night, someone rushed in and took your wife away!”
