Letitia, sprawled on the ground, aching all over and too weak to even crawl, watched helplessly.
“Letitia, if anything happens to Sh’s baby your whole family is gonna pay with their lives!”
Elgin dropped this bombshell and left with Sh, moving like his life depends on it
Letitia struggled to lift her head, only to see Elgin’s towering figure getting smaller in the distance…
Sh slung to his shirt, as he whispered something looking anxious and tense.
Yeah, it was dicey for Sh, pregnant and tumbling down the stairs
But what about her? She was pregnant too, for crying out loud! Yet no one gave a hoot about whether
she was okay, nobody gave a damn!
And if anything happens to Sh’s baby, it’s all on her, her fault!
But damn it, it was Sh who came at her, who grabbed her hand, who wanted them both to take the
fall. The ground was soaked in blood, looking extra gruesome under the harsh moonlight.
Letitia thought it was all Sh’s. But when she looked down, she saw blood seeping out…

She panicked! Her baby!
Fear engulfed her, and as she tried to scream, she found her voice was gone.
The more worked up she got, the tighter her throat felt
Letitia could feel it… her lifeblood draining away. It was her child, a life slipping away
“No-” Her scream was heart-wrenching as she pressed down on her belly.
“Mrs Ramirez! The butler rushed in. “What’s happened to you?”
“The baby, the baby. Letitia’s voice trembled, “Please, you gotta save my baby…”
The butler’s face went white, “Okay!”
The other servants just stood there at first, watching.
But as the butler started to help Letitia up, one maid stepped forward, “Let me help.”
With her taking the lead, the others slowly joined in.
After all, Mrs. Ramirez may not be the boss, but she had always been decent to them.
Letitia was in so much pain, she was nearly out cold. Gazing into the pitch-ck night, she felt an eerie
calm… If she lost this baby, how’s she supposed to live?
That night, Ivory Towers was all lit up, a hive of frantic activity.
At the hospital.
Outside the OR
Elgin stood tall and still, bloodstains from Sh on his clothes, face like ice.
“My Sh… my poor girl! Mark sobbed, rushing over, “What in the world happened? She’d only been
at Ivory Towers a few days!”
Elgin stayed silent.
Mark was wailing, “If anything happens to my grandchild, I’m done for… Sh won’t survive this blow,
Mr. Ramirez, what are we gonna do? What the hell happened?”
Then, downed on his knees at the OR doors, “I’m begging you, God, have mercy, let Sh and the
baby be safe, even if I have to knock ten years off my life…
Ugin gave him a sidelong nce, “Sh she rolled down the stairs?
or something? Mark asked “No, no way, she’s been super careful since finding out she’s pregnant,

exercise, scared of any risks!”
Elgin went silent again: He’d seen Letitia and Sh face-to-face from afar after his dinner party.
They were arguing, Sh trying to grab Letitia’s hand, Letitia resisting.
By the time Elgin parked and looked back, Letitia was on the edge of the stairs, falling backwards,
grabbing Sh’s hand at thest second…
Both of them were pregnant, tumbling down together.
Oh, right, Elgin remembered, Letitia was pregnant too.
“Mr. Ramirez, spill it, how did Sh fall?” Mark pressed, “Did someone hurt her?”
Elgin barely parted his lips, “It was Letitia.”
She dragged Sh down with her as she fell, taking someone to the grave with her

Just then, the OR doors swung open

Elgin stepped up, voice heavy, “How is she?”
“Not good,” the doctor said. The baby… we probably can’t save it.”
Mark staggered back, looking like he’s about to pass out.
“What?” Elgin’s face darkened “Say that again?”
“Uh, Mr. Ramirez, this the mother’s bleeding out, the baby’s critical, we can only save the mother,” the
doctor exined “I did everything I could.”
Elgin grabbed the doctor by the cor, “You better keep trying, I want them both, the baby and the
mother!”
He had just started to taste the joy of fatherhood, and now he was supposed to lose his child?
No way, he couldn’t handle this!
“Yes, yes,” the doctor stammered, scared stiff, “we’ll do our best, but Mr. Ramirez, please… prepare
yourself.”
Elgin’s forehead throbbed with tension. Despite not wanting to face the harsh truth, he knew the baby’s
gone.
“It’s all over, game over, Mark muttered to himself, “The kid’s gone, Sh’s gonna be heartbroken…
No, no way, I’ve gotta avenge the little one! Mr. Ramirez, where the heck is Letitia?! Where is she?!”
