    She made it through, but how about her baby?


    The nurse just left and won’t be back. Letitia’s voice was so soft and faint it couldn’t make it beyond the


    room.


    She threw back the covers and struggled to get out of bed.


    As soon as her feet touched the ground, they went all wobbly, and she nearly hit her knees.


    Gritting her teeth, Letitia pushed on, “Nurse, my baby… how’s my baby…?”


    Is he dead or alive?


    She barely made it to the door when it swung open from the outside.


    Looking up, Letitia locked eyes with Elgin’s deep gaze.


    After a two-second stare down, she clenched his sleeve, shouting with every bit of her strength, “Elgin!


    Did you get rid of my baby… You must have done it!”


    Her eyes were bloodshot and fiery red, staring straight at him.


    Elgin could clearly see the hatred in her eyes. So intense.


    She hated him. Yeah, she was supposed to hate him, like… he’d always hated her.

    my baby go together!”


    Her voice was hoarse with usation, her fists pounding against Elgin’s chest.

    Elgin finally spoke indifferently, “Letitia, maybe it was a mistake from the start.”

    “I shouldn’t have married you,” Elgin replied. “You should’ve stayed in that madhouse, out of the


    sunlight forever. We should’ve just had that one-off encounter and never crossed paths again.”


    Looking back, Elgin thought it was probably the worst move he’d ever yed.


    He figured Letitia was easy to control, with what he had, she could be the perfect Mrs. Ramirez.

    At this moment, facing Letitia, Elgin had to admit- He’d gone soft.

    Biting her teeth, Letitia said, “I don’t want to be with you either! Elgin, the divorce papers are signed.


    Just let me go, and I’m willing to go back to the asylum!”


    “You can’t go back.”


    Letitia looked at him, her fists falling powerlessly from his chest as if all her strength had been drained,


    copsing to the floor like a rag doll.


    Elgin caught her in a swift embrace.


    “Let go of me,” Letitia struggled.


    But Elgin simply swept her off her feet and carried her back to the hospital bed.


    I’ve already jumped, why save me?” Letitia asked. “Can’t I end it all with death?”


    You cant die Not unless I say you can.”


    Her voice choked up, “So my baby should die? Elgin, you saved me this time, but you can’t save me


    next time! No one can save a person hell-bent on dying!”

    After several minutes, he twisted open a bottle of water and offered it, “Aren’t you tired of yelling? Have


    some water and take a break.”


    Letitia didn’t take it.


    “Drink” It was his usualmanding tone.


    Letitia paused, then took it, only to throw it straight at Elgin!

    “You’re not afraid I’ll haunt you?”

    Elgin still didn’t make a sound, but she tasted blood.


    Blood seeped through his shoulder, staining his shirt red.


    “Had enough? Done venting?” he asked calmly.

    Finally, Letitia let go, her teeth and mouth bloody.


    Elgin even gently wiped the blood away for her, “Feeling better?”


    She pped his hand away.


    Elgin’s lips curled slightly. “Rest up, get better, thene back to work at thepany.”


    She turned her face away, not wanting toy her eyes on him.


    Elgin stood for a while, then left the hospital room.


    The bodyguard outside spotted the wound on his shoulder and got all worked up, “Mr. Ramirez, who


    did this to you?”


    “It’s nothing.” he replied, cool as a cucumber.’


    “You’re bleeding! I’m gonna get a doc to patch you up!”


    Elgin clenched his fist and put it to his mouth, coughing again.


    Just a moment ago, in front of Letitia, he had been holding back the itch in his throat, not wanting to


    cough in her presence. He was worned that he might pass his cold on to her.


    Now, he couldn’t stop coughing.


    Elgin had tough at himself. Why the heck was he so hung up on her?
