Melvin wasn’t too pushy; he just wanted to wrap things up and head back home as soon as possible.
That woman was getting a bit too full of herselftely and might just fell for someone else any minute
now. He was thinking he’d still grab a gift for her on his way back. That woman needs a little sweet–
talking.. Right after hanging up, Willow sent him a Facebook message.

expression.

The video ended with Jocelyn and some dude hugging it out like they couldn’t bear to part, putting on
quite the heart–wrenching goodbye show.
Ha, didn’t even look back when she left him, now she’s all lovey–dovey with another guy.
His once deep, affectionate eyes turned cold and menacing.
Jocelyn went back to her parents‘ home.
His father, Calvin still had work, so when Jocelyn had nothing to do, she’d hang with her mom, stroll
downstairs, and hit up the veggie market.
“Your dad told me a few days ago, that boss who visitedst time is nning to move him to some
jewelrypany gig. Just needs to watch the monitors, no patrolling or door duty. Looks like the pay is
better than his current job and shorter hours, more chill, Daisy rambled on.
Jocelyn was clueless that Melvin wanted to switch jobs for her dad. Only after he’d visitedst time
when she questioned her dad did she find out thepany was nearly bust. Melvin had invested and
became the major shareholder, saving her dad’s job.
“Jocelyn, why’s that new boss so keen on your dad? First, he saved his job, now a promotion and pay
raise. Isn’t it curious?” Daisy was skeptical. “If your dad was a pretty young thing in his twenties, I’d get
it if someone fancied him, but he’s an old man. How’s hending such good fortune?”
Jocelyn’s gaze flickered. Of course she couldn’t tell her mom the guy was into her, and she was the
pretty young thing in question.
“Maybe he just appreciates how serious and responsible my dad is at work. Whether he changes jobs
or not, it’s up to my dad, Jocelyn wasn’t for or against it.
She just couldn’t figure out why Melvin, who was so particr about keeping their rtionship from her
family, would then promote her dad to the jewelrypany.
Daisy waved it off, “I’m not fussy about it; let him decide. At his age, he shouldn’t be chasing big
money, just afy job till he retires is good enough.”
Jocelyn agreed.
The mother and daughter had just reached the building entrance when their neighbor Zelda, sporting
freshly permed curis, approached them with a grin, “I was wondering why Jocelyn wouldn’t give my
nephew a chance. Turns out she’s got such a refined and handsome boyfriend. Nice catch!”
Jocelyn was baffled.
Abandoned?” Daisy was confused, “What boyfriend?”
“Oh, you don’t know?” Zelda whipped out her phone, saying, “Jocelyn, that’s not cool. You said you
were single to avoid your mom’s nagging, but hiding such a catch from her?”
Jocelyn’s mind raced with the thought that her affair with Melvin had been exposed.
That was impossible.
Look, it’s all over the web, Zelda showed Daisy the phone, smiling, “Take a look. Isn’t the future son–
inw a sight for sore eyes?”
Daisy took a close look, her eyes lighting up, “Jocelyn, isn’t that the professor?”
“A professor? That’s quite a match, Zelda chuckled happily. “So young and already a professor,
Jocelyn’s got good taste. Congrattions, Daisy, you can finally get rid of your worries
As Daisy watched the two on the screen, she tuned out their chatter, reying the video once and once
again. The more she watched, the more satisfied she was.
“Wow, we had no clue about this, Daisy tried to remain calm, not wanting to jump to conclusions and
cause a stir, “Let’s not spread the word until they’re sure, or it’ll be embarrassing.”
Zelda shrugged. pocketed her phone, and asked, Jocelyn, tell us the truth, is he your boyfriend?”
Jocelyn was speechless. She didn’t expect a random street interview would catch the attention of the
neighborhood gossip like this.
This was a real mix–up.
Zelda, you can’t just jump to conclusion by what it seems; you have to listen to what we said. Friends,
we are just friends,” Jocelyn patiently rified.
Zeldaughed. “Oh, you young folks and your airs and graces. Friends to lovers, it happens. We get it.
Anyway, the guy’s a good catch. Whether friends or more, you’ve got to bring him by someday. I’m
waiting to celebrate at your wedding. I won’t hold you up; off to y cards for me.”
Zelda left with a grin before Jocelyn could give a detailed exnation.
Jocelyn was deted. She looked at her mother, and Daisy was scrutinizing her too.
“Mom, Harrison and I are really just friends. Yesterday, I went to the airport to see off a friend, and I
bumped into him. Then those street interviewers cornered us, asking questions. If you don’t believe,
you can watch the video yourselfter,” Jocelyn exined, feeling somewhat helpless under her
mother’s probing gaze.
“Does he have a girlfriend?” Daisy asked.
Jocelyn replied, “He was in such a hurry to leave because he’s going home for a blind date.”
Daisy’s eyes lit up again, So, both unattached, why not give it a shot? Why don’t you take the
initiative?” Jocelyn forced a smile, “Mom, can we not joke about this?”
I’m not wasting time joking with you. You’re already for staying single so long in our neighborhood. I’m
not asking for a tall, rich, and handsome guy, just someone decent–looking with good characteristics, is
that too much?” Daisy was genuinely worried, “Apparently I am not asking for the moon, right?”
Jocelyn couldn’t manage augh, “Nope, not at all.”

spin?” Daisy wasn’t usually so eager, but that video just hit her nerve.
“Mom, I’m serious, Harrison and I are just friends,” Jocelyn’s voice was tinged with frustration.

Daisy was taken aback for a second, “Well, if that’s how it is, then for sure, you gotta get to know him
better. But isn’t dating all about getting to know each other? Once you’ve got a good grasp, you can
move on to think about marriage. We’re not rushing you to the finish line here, but you gotta give us a
glimmer of hope, right? You don’t expect me and your dad to kick the bucket without ever seeing you
settled down with a decent family, do you?”
“Why mention this nonsense again? Both you and me are still young!” Jocelyn really didn’t know what
to say, “If I find my Mr. Right, I’ll bring him home without any question. I can’t just nab someone if
they’re not the one, can

Seeing Jocelyn getting worked up, Daisy didn’t want to push her buttons and get the opposite effect, so
she nodded repeatedly, “Alright, alright, we don’t have to rush. Just keep it in mind, that’s all.”
Back at home, Jocelyn holed up in her room and watched that video over and over. Thements
section was popping, most of them singing praises about her and Harrison.
She was kinda worried. If the neighbors could see this video, what about other people?
Would Melvin have seen it too?

With his personality, if he had seen that video, wouldn’t he have called her up to give her a piece of his
mind by now?
