Introduction: When young Rose Cible comes to pay her final respects to the late Master of Dross Manor, she finds herself alone with the master's body. Sure that no one will hear her, she sends him off with a final wish, unaware that in life, Master Dross had always been sensitive to wishes. His corpse opens its eyes, promising to grant that wish. Three years later, the manor is inhabited again by two gentlemen whom only she can see.
