Prologue

Prologue

Above the endless cosmos, the World Tree, Ithanashir, continues to grow upward. Each leaf on this tree nurtures a universe, and our universe is but one of those leaves. Time forms its branches, and every change within a universe sprouts new leaves on the branches—these are the parallel universes.

However, at the roots of the World Tree, the Void, known as Nairos, relentlessly corrodes, seeking to devour everything.

The continent of Esperan is a land with an ancient history, situated in the Pacific Ocean, yet isolated from the world by an invisible barrier. In modern times, humans remain oblivious to its existence, as the barrier not only confuses ships and airplanes trying to breach it but also leads them to believe that this area is nothing more than an ordinary stretch of ocean. The reason for this continent''s isolation traces back to a history from 30,000 years ago.

    30,000 Years Ago

Humans already existed and possessed the ability to wield magic, with technology comparable to that of the 21st century. In this era, the world was not solely inhabited by humans; ancient races such as elves, orcs, dragons, and demons coexisted, while the divine beings resided in Esperan.

The gods symbolized the stability of the world''s laws, and their duty was to prevent the Void from consuming the world. Yet, peace is always fleeting. Driven by greed and ambition, humans initiated a ruthless massacre.

The Nordsarss Empire, under the pretext of territorial expansion and world unification, waged a campaign of extermination against other races. Led by the Empire''s seven Archmages, human armies destroyed the Elven Forests, slaughtered the Dragons, and suppressed the Demons. Their forces were unstoppable, and soon, Esperan was the last sanctuary left in the world.

Under the onslaught of humanity, the surviving races fled to Esperan, praying for the mercy of the Divine Principles. Initially indifferent to the mortal conflict—seeing it as merely another cycle of life—the Divine Principles was compelled to intervene upon learning that the true orchestrator behind the war was the Abyss of the Void. It had tempted human civilization into war, intending to harvest the chaos and energy born from the conflict.

Faced with the threat of the Abyss, the supreme Divine Principles finally delivered divine punishment. Thunder and flames consumed the human armies invading Esperan, colossal floods swallowed human cities, and, ultimately, the ability of humans to perceive magic was sealed, ensuring that future generations would never awaken magical powers.

The end of the war shattered the Abyss''s plans. Due to the devastation of the conflict, the surviving races were on the brink of extinction. To provide them a safe haven, the divine order created a barrier, isolating Esperan from the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, the Abyss did not concede defeat. Although it was not completely annihilated, it lay dormant at the roots of the World Tree, silently waiting. When the time is right, it will rise again.
