    Ronan had a good idea about why Thomas was at his doorstep.

    “She’s not here?” Thomas pondered, wondering if Ronan was aware of the situation, and whether

    Shortly after Thomas’ departure, the police arrived to deliver the conclusion of Deanna’s case. Ronan


    had tipped off the authorities earlier, asking to be informed once the case was resolved.


    Cordelia had just returned with Callum. They were shopping for clothes at the mall.


    “Mr. Evans, we''ve cracked the Deanna case. It was done by a guy named Xavier. He unplugged


    Deanna’s oxygen because he bought a pair of sneakers from her online store for over a thousand


    bucks, thought they weren’t worth it, and got furious when he couldn’t return them.”


    “Isn’t that motive a bit flimsy? Didn’t you find anyone else?” Cordelia inquired.


    “That’s all we have.”


    Cordelia nced at Ronan. She had once suspected him, but it seemed she was mistaken.


    After the police left, Ronan didn’t mention Thomas’ visit to Cordelia.


    Cordelia settled on the sofa. “I might need to leave today. I have ss tomorrow.”


    “Leave tomorrow then. I’m heading to Birchwood anyway.”


    “We’re divorced,” Cordelia countered.


    Ronan justughed; he never took Cordelia’s words to heart.
