Chapter 441

    Chapter 441

As Ronan stepped out of Dustin''s house, his phone buzzed with a new message from Cordelia. [How

    do you know Harold?]

    Ronan didn''t respond.

Cordelia figured as much. He rarely checked his messages, if at all. His silence made Cordelia feel

    uneasy.

Walking through the campus of Birchwood College with his son, Callum, Ronan relished the cool,

refreshing atmosphere. It had been a while since he felt this kind of serenity. Thest time he

experienced it was when he visited Birchwood College with a certain someone.

"Dad, you said earlier that that nicedy is your wife. Does that mean you''ve fallen for her?" Callum

    asked Ronan.

    "Yes."

"I knew it, Dad. You''re so calm and collected, but your heart knows what it wants. If you''ve fallen for

her, you should act on it quickly. And you should let Haorld know, too," Callum said excitedly. "He''s so

    innocent. I''m really worried."

"Worried about what?" Ronan asked Callum.

    "I''m worried he''ll get hurt."

"Aren''t you worried about your dad?"

"Dad, you can do anything," Callum said proudly.

    Ronan chuckled.

The pair leisurely strolled back home.

Callum yawned. "Tired?" Ronan asked him.

    "Mhm."

Bending down, Ronan scooped Callum into his arms.

Callum nestledfortably in his father''s arms and fell asleep.

Under the dim lights of the faculty building, they didn''t notice the presence of a woman nearby.

    Petra.

She had just dumped the trash, still wearing her pajamas and her hair in a disheveled mess. As she

was heading back, she heard a familiar voice. One word from him was enough for her to recognize

    Ronan.

    Instantly, memories flooded Petra''s mind.

Thest time she saw Ronan was at Yale University. Despite her heartfelt confessions, he remained

indifferent. But the way he spoke to his son, the tenderness he disyed when he held him, was a side

of Ronan Petra had never seen. Even in her most dazzling moments, he had never looked at her. Now,

in her unkempt state, he would certainly not notice her.

Since Cordelia moved here, Petra had anticipated Ronan''s arrival at Birchwood College. She just

wanted to see his handsome face and cold demeanor again, a side of Ronan Petra could never touch.

As expected, he came, not for her, but for Cordelia. Regardless of the storm within her, Petra had to

    maintain a calm exterior.

The next day, Cordelia ran into Petra at the faculty cafeteria.

    "Hey, Petra," Cordelia greeted enthusiastically.

"Cordelia, did Ronan visit the campusst night?" Petra asked, forcing nonchnce into her voice as if

Ronan was just an old ssmate.

Cordelia''s hand twitched. "Um, probably. He came to watch the basketball game."

"Oh, but I saw him heading towards the Birch Gardenst night."

Cordelia frowned. "Why would he go there? I wouldn''t know. We''re divorced; I don''t keep up with his

    life anymore."

"Why don''t you organize a small gathering, so we can have a meal together, after all, we''re old friends,"

    Petra suggested casually.

Only she knew the years of unrequited love hidden behind this ''casual'' suggestion.

"Sure, why not, I''ll ask him," Cordelia agreed, thinking they were old friends after all. Besides, Petra

    was married.

As Cordelia pondered over Ronan''s visit to the Birch Garden, she thought, her grandfather once taught

at Birchwood College, so Ronan probably had some good friends here. Maybe Ronan visited the

garden to catch up with old friends.
