Chapter 430

    Chapter 430

The following day, Cordelia didn''t have any sses at Birchwood College. She didn''t want Ronan to

know that she was teaching there. After all, they were just acquaintances now. The less he knew, the

better it would be for him and Callum.

Cordelia stepped out of her room to find that Ronan had already prepared breakfast. After tasting it,

she realized that his cooking skills had improved significantly over the past three years. Back then, he

    could barely boil an egg.

He had also prepared a bowl of scrambled eggs, more beautifully presented than any you could buy at

a diner. The eggs were golden and smooth, topped with a few slices of mushrooms, and a handful of

shrimp. It was garnished with a sprinkle of salt; the aroma wafting up from the bowl was

    mouthwatering.

"You... you can make scrambled eggs?" She asked Ronan.

Three years had passed, and Cordelia found it strange and somewhat awkward to talk to him.

Ronan nced at her with a smirk. "Can''t you?"

"I... never tried," Cordelia admitted, her head bowed in shame. After all, scrambled eggs were a kid''s

dish. She didn''t eat it, and she never made it. "Even if I tried, I probably wouldn''t be able to make it as

good as this. It looks simple but it''s actually quite tricky. I''m not very good at this."

Cordelia had once stumbled upon a tutorial on how to make scrambled eggs on the inte. It looked

simple but one wrong step could ruin the whole dish.

"You''ve never been the sharpest tool in the shed," Ronan retorted.

Cordelia was speechless and could only continue eating her breakfast. Her phone buzzed with a

    message from Sally on Messenger.

[Ms. Haselwood, I''ve been working on a paper in my dorm and lost track of time. I''ll be at the office

    shortly.]

If it weren''t for Sally''s message, Cordelia would havepletely forgotten about her responsibilities.

She nced at her watch. It was almost nine.

"Busy?" Ronan asked sarcastically. "If you''re that busy, you can leave now."

"Oh, it''s not too serious," Cordelia responded awkwardly.

Hisment was probably aimed at her dedication to her career and studies, at the expense of her

child. She had left for three years, and even during breakfast, people were reaching out to her on

    Messenger.

After they finished eating, it was Cordelia who washed the dishes. She then grabbed her bag and told

Ronan, "I have a meeting to attend. I need to go."

    "With Empower Operations?" Ronan inquired.

    "No, it''s something else."

He looked her up and down. "How much do you make in a year now?"

Cordelia quickly calcted in her head. "All together, about two million dors, I guess."

    "Two million?" Ronan scoffed.

He seemed to be mocking her for sacrificing her family for a mere two million dors. "Go ahead," he

    said dismissively.

Cordelia stood there, hesitant to leave.

"What? You''re still here?" Ronan looked up at her.

    "How''s Brooklyn doing?" She asked.

Ronan let out a coldugh. "You have a good memory. You even remember your old friend, Brooklyn.

Why don''t you ask her yourself?"

After being dismissed by Ronan, Cordelia left in disappointment.

She thought to herself that when she left home years ago, it wasn''t just for her own sake. With Amanda

and Olen around, she was on the verge of depression. Moreover, Ronan had ruined everyone in the

Haselwood family. Her father had given Ronan his cornea, and her mother died mysteriously and was

left with a tarnished reputation. All because Ronan was rich.

And then there was his ambiguous rtionship with Tabitha and a child that was possibly theirs.

na pressure was omnipresent, from setting up a massive trap to monitoring every aspect of

Cordelia''s life. Leaving was the most sensible choice Cordelia could have made.

She never expected that, three yearster, she would find herself in contact with Ronan again. Cordelia

didn''t know how na would deal with her this time.

Lost in her thoughts, she arrived at her office at the college. Sally and Sean were already there.
