    Chapter 392

Truth be told, Cordelia''s cooking skills were quitemendable. But even the best cook couldn’t whip

up a meal without proper ingredients, and her fridge was embarrassingly bare. Only a packet of instant

soupy forgotten in a corner, apanied by a couple of eggs and some spinach.

She washed the spinach and set the eggs to boil, soon after, she added the noodles and finally the

spinach. The sunny-side-up eggs she made were perfectly round.

When Cordelia entered the room, bncing the bowl and fork, Ronan had just pulled on his jeans and

was fastening his belt, but his torso was still bare.

Every time Cordelia saw his bronzed skin, her heart pounded relentlessly, and she found it hard to

    meet his gaze.

"All we have is this bowl of soup, so just make do," she said, setting down the meal on her desk.

Their apartment did have a living room, but both Cordelia and Taylor preferred their own spaces and

retreated to their respective bedrooms immediately upon returning home, leaving the living room mostly

    unused.

Ronan took a seat at one end of the desk, while Cordelia upied the center, returning to her studies.

Cordelia''s gaze often strayed to Ronan, who was busy eating. In return, he kept ncing at the books

    she was engrossed in.

Ronan noticed that many of the books were borrowed from the library, and their titles matched the ones

Jamie had mentioned on Facebook. Cordelia was an obedient student and was reading everything

    Jamie rmended.

"Do you still keep a diary?" Ronan asked, pausing between bites of his noodles.

"Uhm..." Cordelia responded, resting her pen against her chin. "Life in America isn''t exactly full of

    thrilling adventures."

"What about the days spent with me?" He asked.

“I was forced to keep a diary then.”

    “About what? Our sex life?”

Cordelia red at him, and her cheeks were slowly turning a shade of pink. "Don''t be ridiculous!"

Ronan chuckled at her feigned anger, returning his attention to his meal.

Cordelia nced at her watch and calcted that it was midnight back home, meaning she would have

to wait till the evening to video call her child.

Noticing Ronan''s bare torso, she asked, "Aren''t you cold?"

    "No, not really."

If he wasn''t cold, Cordelia chose not to press the issue. After all, she knew how warm he was, every

time she got close, she could feel the heat radiating off him.

After Ronan finished his meal, Cordelia went to wash the dishes before returning to her room.

"What are you up to this afternoon? Would you like to go out and explore the city?" Cordelia suggested.

"Won’t you kill me for wasting your precious study time? Shouldn''t a schr like you prioritize studying

    over everything else?" Ronan teased.

"Killing is illegal," Cordelia retorted, removing her sses, and reaching for her coat. Ronan also

    started dressing up.

Once downstairs, Cordelia instinctively reached for Ronan''s arm to head for the bus stop. Ronan had

other ns. He headed straight for the parking lot and unlocked a luxurious Bugatti.

"Is this yours?" Cordelia asked incredulously, standing next to the car.

"It belongs to thepany, so technically, it''s mine. And by that logic, it''s yours too."

Cordelia felt as if she was in a fog. She had assumed that she would be ying the tour guide and

show Ronan around. It was only now that she remembered that Ronan was a Yale graduate, had lived

in the U.S. for years, and Lumos Enterprises'' U.S. branch was already well-established.

Cordelia felt a sudden sense of defeat. It seemed like no matter what she did, she couldn''t escape his

shadow. She had studied and worked hard, thinking she had reached new heights, only to realize that

she was merely in the palm of his hand.

Cordelia leaned back in the car seat, feeling utterly dejected.

"What''s wrong?" Ronan asked, turning to look at her.
