Chapter 363
At the airport, Taylor was waiting for Cordelia. They had nned this meeting in advance. Taylor had a
paper offer to hand over to Cordelia. Spotting Cordelia getting off the ne, Taylor waved. "Cordelia."
Cordelia looked up and returned her greeting.
"What''s your n for this visit, Cordelia?" Taylor, who had been living and working in the States for a
few years now, asked as she started her car.
"I might be here for a while, considering my master''s degree programsts three years."
As Cordelia was talking, she sent a message to "hubby" via Messenger. [Arrived safely.]
She was careful not to say too much, fearing that the men in ck suits would be monitoring her
phone. If they found out her rtionship with Ronan hadn''t actually ended, it could put Ronan and their
son in danger.
Ronan didn''t respond.
"My lease is up, and I found a nice ce. How about we share it? What do you think?" Taylor asked
Cordelia.
"Sure."
"So, should we go see the ce now?"
"Okay."
Even though they were going to see the apartment, Cordelia''s mind wasn''t really on it. She kept
checking her phone, curious about Ronan''s reaction to her sudden departure overseas. But he still
hadn''t replied. Cordelia started to feel uneasy.
The new apartment was close to UC Davis. Taylor worked in media and also offered part-time
application writing services to international students. The location was convenient for both of them.
"I think it''s a good ce. If you agree, we can split the rent and utilities. What do you think?" Taylor
asked Cordelia, leaning against the door.
"Sounds good," Cordelia replied vaguely.
"You''re thinking about your son or your husband, aren''t you?" Taylor teased.
"Neither. If I was, why would I havee to study overseas?" Cordelia retorted.
After quickly unpacking her stuff, the sun had already set. Cordelia ate a burger and had a video call
with Brooklyn. Back home, it was morning, and Brooklyn was enjoying her breakfast.
"Cordelia, where are you?" Brooklyn asked.
"I''m in the US now, trying to finish the degree I started before having my baby."
"That''s rather sudden," Brooklyn expressed surprise. "Did Marian''s words the other day upset you? If
so, should I feel guilty? I''m surrounded by colleagues with postgraduate degrees, and I''m feeling left
out."
"It''s not sudden at all. I''ve always wanted toe to the US, you know that. I talked with Ronan about
it and came over. Oh, and could you tell Ronan I arrived safely and found a ce to stay? He didn''t

respond to my message," Cordelia said.
"Mr. Evans didn''t reply to your message?" Brooklyn asked. "Did he not see it? Why doesn''t he stick
your chat at the top?"
"Never mind, enjoy your breakfast. I''m going to start my sses tomorrow," Cordelia said and ended
the call.
The jetg was hitting her hard on her first day in the States. Unable to sleep, she watched as the sky
started to brighten outside, silently counting sheep. "One, two, three..." Despite reaching over five
hundred, she still couldn''t fall asleep. She kept checking her phone to see if Ronan had replied to her
message, even bringing it with her to the bathroom, but he never did.
Cordelia thought, that his words, “If you leave the country, I''ll never see you again,” were just to scare
her off from going abroad. If she really did leave, he wouldn''t actually refuse to let here back. After
all, Cordelia was the mother of their son, Callum.
