Chapter 341

    Chapter 341

Janice hastily arrived, holding arge package filled with essentials for the new mother and children.

"How''s it going, Mr. Evans?" She asked Ronan.

"It''s done." He leaned back against the wall after delivering the news.

"Are both babies okay?" Janice asked with a hint of excitement.

    "Just one."

"What do you mean one? Where''s the other one?" Janice asked anxiously.

    "Don’t ask."

Janice didn’t dare to say anything more.

It was nightfall by the time Cordelia was moved into a single patient room.

    N?velDrama.Org owns this.

She was exhausted and was barely able to keep her eyes open,

but she knew that Ronan was by her side.

"Where are the babies?" she asked Ronan weakly.

"They were premature and needed to stay in the incubator for ten days. Janice is watching over them."

"Are they okay? Is the baby girl okay?" Cordelia asked. Victoria had previously mentioned that the girl

was not doing well, and Samantha’s taunts had gotten to Cordelia, making her worry about her baby

    girl.

Ronan hesitated for a moment before replying, "She''s fine."

    Cordelia gave a weak nod.

"Do you want to eat something? I can ask Janice to prepare it for you." Ronan took her hand.

Cordelia, feeling too weak to even move, didn’t feel like eating anything. Even opening her eyes

seemed to require too much energy. Indeed, giving birth took a toll on one''s body.

"Are you staying here tonight?" She asked Ronan.

    "Yes."

Cordelia noticed that Ronan didn''t seem as happy as a new father should be, so she asked, "Aren''t you

    happy?"

    "No."

After uttering those words, Cordelia''s eyes grew heavy, and she drifted back to sleep.

She had no milk, possibly due to the premature birth or her own health condition. With no babies by her

side, even if she had milk, it would already be gone.

Meanwhile, Janice had been feeding the babies form.

Cordelia woke up in the middle of the night in pain because the anesthesia had worn off. Her stomach

    was aching terribly.

Ronan was already awake by her side.

She curled up in Ronan’s arms, trembling.

“Why does it hurt so much? I thought I had a natural birth?” Cordelia remembered that when she

arrived at the hospital, the first baby’s head was almost out.

But she could feel a surgical incision on her stomach.

She didn’t remember much after that.

“The second baby was delivered by a C-section. That’s why you’re in pain,” Ronan exined gently,

stroking Cordelia’s back. “Try to bear it.”

Cordelia’s face turned pale from the pain.

She didn’t have the joy of a new mother, instead, she felt somewhat depressed. The physical pain,

coupled with Samantha’s words earlier, still echoed in her ears…

She clung to Ronan, sobbing softly to alleviate her physical difort.

By the time dawn broke, Cordelia fell asleep in Ronan''s arms, though it was a light sleep. She often

woke up due to the pain and couldn''t get a good night''s rest.

Ronan held her all night, not moving an inch.

Cordelia was in and out of sleep. She fully woke up around nine in the morning.

"Have you not slept?" She asked Ronan.

"No. I ordered a postnatal meal for you, they''ll deliver it soon."

    "Okay," Cordelia replied.

Neither of them brought up his past with Deanna.

Cordelia chose not to ask because even though she didn''t believe Ronan’s past affair with Deanna was

true, she was afraid that asking would not yield the answers she wanted, so she preferred to remain

    silent.

Ronan didn''t bring it up because Cordelia had just given birth, and it wasn''t the right time to discuss

    such matters.

It seemed as though they both felt, in their hearts, that Cordelia giving birth was a watershed moment,

separating all the unpleasantness of the past from the present.
