Chapter 322

    Chapter 322

"What''s wrong? Spill it. Keeping it all bottled up inside will only wear you down. I can tell something has

been bothering youtely." Brenda was indeed the epitome of a caring big sister.

Cordelia found herself spilling everything. From the moment she found out about her grandma''s tragic

death in a fire, to when she asked Brooklyn and Edwin to visit her grandma, to Edwin rying what he

had heard to Cordelia. She even mentioned Ronan''s "support" for Deanna, and the "closing statement"

of the case that Ronan had shown her.

All her doubts and suspicions, especially about Ronan possibly tampering with the closing statement to

ensure Deanna got off scot-free, wereid bare in front of Brenda.

    Jamie quietly listened.

"Mr. Evans really should have known better. Knowing what kind of person Deanna is and still helping

her like that. It''s infuriating," Brenda said, crossing her arms in annoyance. "Why should Deanna get

    away with everything?"

"I can''t me him," Cordelia replied. Her hands sped around a mug of hot chocte. Reminded of

his words about using Deanna as a target, she figured that was probably his true intention. But seeing

Deanna triumphant, Cordelia couldn''t help but feel a surge of resentment.

"Cordelia, whenever you''re feeling down, just give me a call, and we’ll chat," Jamie suddenly said,

impulsively reaching out to grasp her hand. "Don''t bear all this by yourself." Jamie had heard countless

stories about pregnant women miscarrying due to the stress of losing a loved one.

"Alright," Cordelia agreed, absentmindedly running a hand through her hair.

"Exactly, Cordelia. Remember, we''re all here for you," Brenda said sincerely.

Touched, Cordelia could only nod and repeat her agreement.

"Where are you working now?" Cordelia asked Jamie.

"Me? Are you worried about me? Even at my worst, I wouldn''t lose my job. I''ve teamed up with Brenda

now. The former First Enterprises is in shambles under Marian''s management. I couldn''t care less

about it. She''s already moved out of that building, who knows what it''s like now."

"Same old, same old, huh? Nothing’s changed." Cordelia chuckled.

"Right. Take care, Cordelia. I''m genuinely worried about you," Jamie said, squeezing her hand again.

    N?velDrama.Org owns this.

Instinctively, Cordelia pulled her hand away. "I''ll take care of myself. Don''t worry."

After Jamie and Brenda left, Cordelia stayed alone in the coffee shop for a while before heading home

with Janice. After finishing her afternoon yoga and a nap, she woke up to find Ronan hade home.

"Did Jamie visit?" Ronan asked, loosening his tie.

Cordelia blinked in surprise. "Janice told you? Brenda was here too."

"And what did you talk about?"

    "Just chit-chat, mostly about work."

Ronan didn''t respond. Later, in bed, he whispered in Cordelia''s ear, "Try to avoid him in the future. It

    makes me upset."

His breath tickled her ear. Cordelia shook her head slightly. "It''s not like I invited him."

He bit her earlobe gently. "If you did invite him, I''d be even more upset."

"So you want me all to yourself?" She asked.

"Preferably," Ronan said, leaning over to kiss Cordelia, his hand gently stroking her belly.

"And you? Are you only mine?"

    "Always have been."

Cordelia knew he was just saying it. She was well aware of his possessive tendencies, selfishness, and

ruthlessness. It was best not to provoke him.

Cordelia didn''t say anything more. She had been feeling uneasytely.
