Chapter 308

    Chapter 308

    "You''re not going!"

Cordelia was taken aback. She hadn''t expected Ronan to be so vehemently against her decision.

"Why not? She was my grandmother. Plus, I suspect it was arson."

"Oh, we don’t need Sherlock Holmes here." Ronan''s tone was much cooler now that he had voiced his

    opposition.

"You drugged me with sleeping pills when my mom died so that I wouldn''t attend the funeral. Now

you''re doing the same for my grandmother''s? I''ve decided to let the past go. Don''t stir it up again."

    Cordelia was furious.

Ronan lounged on the couch, raising an eyebrow at Cordelia. "Your top priority right now should be to

deliver my babies safely." Ronan''s gaze was focused on Cordelia''s belly.

"I am not a baby-making machine!" Cordelia retorted angrily.

"You''re not going. Try me if you insist on going," Ronan dered.

"What are you going to do? Drug me again? If you dare, I''ll abort your twins right now. Try me. Ronan,

I''ve told you, I''ve decided to let the past go. Stop making me suspicious of you." Cordelia was

    scorching mad.

Ronan stared intently at Cordelia. "So telling me the babies are mine was just a threat?"

Cordelia turned her head away haughtily, ignoring him. She knew that once she told him the babies

were his, she would lose her freedom.

"Give Sienna some money. They''ll understand if you don''t attend due to your pregnancy." Ronan

issued his final ultimatum. "If you dare to do something reckless, don''t me me for being ruthless."

"You..." Cordelia knew there was no reasoning with him.

She understood that if he said she couldn''t go, she wouldn''t be able to. More importantly, her physical

condition made it impossible to pull off any dramatic stunts. As for his reasons, Cordelia could

somewhat understand. Funerals were crowded events, and given her condition, traveling all the way to

Roseville would be unsuitable. Moreover, the presence of Samantha, a woman known for her jealousy

and cunningness, was a potential threat. With this in mind, Cordelia was somewhat calmed, but she

    still couldn''t ept Ronan''s autocratic, my-way-or-the-highway approach.

So, for the entire day, she ignored Ronan. When he called her, she acted as if she hadn''t heard.

Ronan knew she was throwing a tantrum and, considering her pregnancy, he decided not to argue with

    her.

Cordelia added Sienna on Messenger and sent her $50,000, exining that her advanced pregnancy

would make it difficult to travel.

[Cordelia, your grandmother passed away, and you''re noting?]

[Yeah, I''m in theter stages of pregnancy. I''m afraid something might happen.]

[Well, just say your grandmother never had a selfish granddaughter like you.]

Sienna''s message made Cordelia feel hot with embarrassment.

[How did the fire start?] Cordelia asked.

[What do you mean? Are you suspecting us of deliberately setting the fire to kill your grandmother? If

we wanted to kill her, wouldn''t it be easier to do it in Roseville? Why would we bother travelling all this

way? And if we were to kill her, why would we choose to burn her? We nearly got burnt ourselves!]

Sienna''s reply left Cordelia even more confused. Samantha''s family had only recently moved to

Millstone. How did a fire start so soon?

Cordelia felt that she needed to investigate. Samantha''s recent firing from The High Society and the

fire incident seemed too coincidental to be idents.
