Chapter 294
"I haven''t been in touch with them for a while. Today Sienna, that''s Samantha''s mom, also my aunt,
called me. She asked me to check on my grandmother, who''s not doing so well. They''ve all moved to
Millstone now. Not quite sure how they suddenly got the money. I''m a bit worried."
"Worried about what?" Ronan didn''t take it too seriously.
They had already entered the garage. Ronan opened the car door, and they both got in.

"I guess I''m worried about Samantha, afraid I might fall into another one of her schemes. But my
grandmother is getting on in years, and every meeting with her could be thest. I don''t have many
family members left in this world." Cordelia suddenly felt a lump in her throat. She thought of Barney’s
and her mother''s death.
"Don''t I count as your family?" A momentter, Ronan asked her.
Cordelia suddenly looked up at him, took a nce, and then lowered her head again. "I meant blood-
rted family."
"So am I your family in your eyes?" Ronan asked again.
Cordelia nodded solemnly, "I guess so."
"What kind of family am I to you?" Ronan was giving Cordelia a way out, hoping she would admit he
was the biological father of their child.
But Cordelia, for some reason, remained silent. Her lips opened and closed several times, but in the
end, they stayed shut. She was afraid that if she admitted it, she would lose control, and Ronan would
stop her from going abroad.
"What kind of blood ties do you have with them?" Ronan suddenly said.
Prompted by Ronan''s words, Cordelia suddenly remembered something Shelley had once said – that
she may not be Shelley''s biological daughter.
Cordelia’s head was buried even lower; she was feeling extremely downcast, just fiddling with her
fingers. She felt like a piece of driftwood in the world, not knowing where she came from, or where she
was going.
"Why bring this up?" Cordelia''s voice was filled with resentment and detion, "Juste with me."
She raised her doe-like eyes, misty and pleading, looking at Ronan.
"Now?" Ronan got back to the point, not mentioning her origins anymore.
"Mhm."
The car left the basement and sped onto the road.
The location Samantha gave was quite a distance from Lumos Enterprises. When they arrived at her
grandmother''s house, Samantha was there too, looking particrly upset.
Cordelia went to her grandmother''s room, and Ronan waited for her in the living room.
Samantha and Sienna both entertained Ronan, their "honoured guest", in the living room.
Today, Ronan''s sudden visit made Sienna feel uneasy. She had never met someone like Ronan before
- so aloof and regal, with an air that silenced everyone and kept people at bay.
"Mr. Evans, would you like some coffee?" Sienna offered. She was both intrigued and intimidated by
Ronan, wishing he could be her own son-inw.
"Just leave it." Ronan sat on the sofa, casually flipping through a film magazine lying on the coffee
table. He was concise and to the point.
As for the coffee, he did not take a sip.
This was Cordelia''s ex-husband, and although they were divorced, ording to Samantha, they still
lived together, presumably with intentions to reconcile.
Meanwhile, Samantha didn''t even have a boyfriend. The few men she had met in Roseville were far
from being on par with Ronan.
Samantha had been losing to Cordelia since they were kids, and Sienna was extremely upset about
this.
Ronald had found a job as a security guard at arge mall in Millstone, and he had not finished his shift
yet.
Ronan didn''t even nce at Samantha, which hurt Samantha deeply. She was already feeling down,
and today on the set of The High Society, she had received a p from Deanna.
Deanna, used to bullying people with her status, would p Samantha at the slightest provocation.
Samantha was already fed up with her.
