Chapter 241

    Chapter 241

Thomas asked the housemaid to brew a cup of coffee. "Mr. Evans, care for a cup of joe?" Thomas

addressed him, "The thing is, Cordelia isn''t happy living with us, and we''re at our wit''s end. We don''t

    know what to do."

"I''ll take her in." Ronan responded.

Just as Cordelia had suspected, her recent cold treatment from the Colby family was Ronan''s doing.

He was ying the good guy, ready to take Cordelia in. It was as if she was a student who had caused

trouble at school, and Ronan, her guardian, and the teacher were asking him to take her home.

But Cordelia''s parents were no more.

Ronan was setting a trap for her. At this moment, Cordelia couldn''t say a word, she could only stare at

Ronan, her eyes filled with defiance. She didn''t want to create a scene in front of Thomas. That would

    be far too embarrassing.

"Alright then, I''ll go pack her things," Thomas said without asking for Cordelia''s opinion and walked into

    her room.

Cordelia thought to herself, “I''m indeed unwee in the Colby family. Thomas didn''t even bother to

consult me before packing up my stuff.”

"It’s okay. I''ll do it myself," Cordelia said, quickly gathering her belongings. Ronan stepped in, helping

    Cordelia to pack.

About five minutester, Cordelia and her belongings were in Ronan''s car.

Ronan started the car. "I''m not going back to Pearl Palms," Cordelia said, a hint of anger in her voice.

She had experienced the loneliness of Pearl Palms. Although it had been some time since Barney and

her mother had left, the New Year was approaching. She would be reminded of thest New Year when

her mom and Barney were still around. Now being pregnant, her emotions were on a roller coaster, and

    memories easily triggered her.

    "No, we won''t," he replied.

Cordelia breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she didn''t have to go back to Pearl Palms, she was

content. She didn''t want to live with him.

    "Then where?" she asked.

"You''ll know when we get there," Ronan replied indifferently.

    "I have a few demands."

    "Go on."

"Don''t let Deanna and Samantha know where I''m living. I know you''re close to Deanna. I''ll return your

one billion, so consider it a plea from me," Cordelia said, recalling the time when Manda pushed her

down the stairs. She was lucky her babies was unharmed, but she didn''t want to risk it again.

    Ronan furrowed his brows.

"Is it okay?" Cordelia asked, noticing that he hadn''t responded.

    "Okay."

Cordelia finally let out a sigh of relief.

Ronan drove towards Garden Estates, one of Millstone''s luxuriousmunities.

Cordelia remembered seeing ''Garden Estates'' in a message from Ronan''s assistant. It was one of the

properties Ronan had given her in the divorce settlement.

"Eighteenth floor?" Cordelia checked her phone, confirming the location of the apartment.

"Yes," Ronan replied while carrying Cordelia''s suitcase.

Cordelia struggled to climb the steps from the ground floor to the first floor due to herrge belly. Ronan

extended his hand to help her, but Cordelia pretended not to notice and used her hands to support

herself as she climbed. Ronan didn''t say anything, but his brows furrowed.

The elevator was empty except for the two of them. Neither spoke.

Cordelia eyed the elevator, its opulence hinting at the grandeur of the building. He certainly had an ace

    up his sleeve.

When the elevator reached the eighteenth floor, Ronan opened the door to apartment 1802. Cordelia

was taken aback by the size and luxury of the t. Janice emerged from the kitchen, having been

    cleaning.

"Janice?" Cordelia was pleased to see a familiar face. "What are you doing here?"

"Mr. Evans sent me to take care of you," Janice exined. Seeing Cordelia''s pregnant belly, she

added, "I told youst time you were pregnant, didn''t I? And look, it''s twins." Despite the rumors that

Cordelia''s babies was Jamie''s, Janice firmly believed the babies belonged to Mr. Evans. So, taking

care of Cordelia wasn''t a burden for her.

    Cordelia gave a small smile.

Her bedroom was thergest, sunlit room. The Colby family''s vi didn''t have as much natural light.

Living here felt morefortable. There was another sunlit bedroom, neatly made up, looking as if it

    was upied.

"Janice, is this your room?" Cordelia asked, pointing to the room.

"That''s my room!" Ronan interjected abruptly.
