Chapter 233

    Chapter 233

After thinking it over, Cordelia decided to give Ronan a call. She still had his old number.

Seeing the name Cordelia pop up on his screen made a flood of memories rush back to Ronan. Finally,

    she hade to him.

"Mr. Evans, are you free?" Cordelia''s voice came through the phone, devoid of any emotion.

"You''re back in town?" Ronan teased her. "And I didn''t even know?"

"I’ve been back for a while, started a firm with a partner. Got to make a living, right? But all the cases I

wanted have been snapped up by you. I''m practically about to starve. Could you leave some for me,

    Mr. Evans?" Cordelia replied.

She knew that Ronan was fully aware of her situation, otherwise, he wouldn''t be so specifically

    targeting her.

"What''s the name of your firm?" Ronan asked.

"First Enterprises. It''s just a small firm, nothing to write home about." Cordelia only understood part of

the implications behind the name First Enterprises. Jamie thought she knew, but she hadn’t even read

    the messages from Jamie.

Ronan gritted his teeth, "I have time."

"How about I treat you to dinner and a c night of karaoke?" Cordelia asked, her teeth clenched but with

    a smile on her face.

"Dinner and karaoke? Is that how you conduct business?" Ronan retorted.

"What, are you not willing?" Cordelia joked, "I''m inviting you while five months pregnant. Can''t you give

me a little face? I''m about to go hungry."

    "Where?" he asked.

"The Golden KTV. I''ll treat you, when are you free?" Cordelia asked.

    "After work."

"Then I''ll book the room." Cordelia ended the call.

Since bing pregnant, Cordelia felt like her stomach was squeezed so tight that she couldn''t eat

much. She had some soup for dinner and then hopped in a cab to the Golden KTV.

On the way, she received a call from Deanna.

As soon as Cordelia returned, Deanna got anxious. "Can we talk?" Deanna asked.

"I''m not really free right now," Cordelia replied.

"Not free, Cordelia you''re pregnant now, I guess it''s Jamie''s, isn''t it? So why are you still involved with

Ronan? You''re divorced from him, so why are you still clinging to him? Do you want to mend your

rtionship? You''re pregnant. Who would want to reconcile with you?" Deanna''s tone towards Cordelia

    was bing increasingly hostile.

"How do you know about us?" Cordelia asked.

"When you called him, I was right next to him, sleeping." Deanna said acidly, emphasizing the word

    "sleeping."

"Then I must congratte you, Ms. Deanna, on finally sleeping with Mr. Evans. Since I''m already

divorced from him, what are you worried about? I''m just going to talk to him about work, and then I''ll be

back." Cordelia ended the call. Her face instantly fell. She really disliked Deanna.

By the time she arrived at the KTV, Ronan was already there. He was smoking a cigarette, watching

Cordelia through the hazy smoke with a distant look in his eyes. Then, he stubbed out his cigarette in

    the ashtray.

A slow, mncholic song was ying in the room.

After a long time, Ronan studied Cordelia closely again. This time she looked paler than thest time

he saw her at the hotel, and she looked like her old self again.

His eyes couldn''t help but wander to her pregnant belly, which was big but not bloated, exuding a

    maternal beauty.

Ronan felt a hard oning up.

"You''re here?" he asked Cordelia in a hoarse voice.

"Yep, didn''t you order some hostesses? I''ll get them." With that, Cordelia picked up the room phone

and ordered some snacks from the manager.

Soon, the manager brought in a tray of snacks for Cordelia, with a line of colorfully dressed, scantily

    d women following him.

"Madam, you choose." The manager, seeing that Cordelia was pregnant, addressed her with more

    care.

"Mr. Evans should choose. They''re here to apany him, not me," Cordelia said, her smile genuine.

Ronan nced over the women and chose two. The two hostesses sat on either side of Ronan and

    began to sing.

Cordelia sat to one side, munching on snacks. She particrly loved the pickled plums, as they were

sour and tasty. After finishing one pack, she asked the manager to bring several more.

To entertain a client, you must first make themfortable and then discuss business. After karaoke, it

would be hard for them to refuse.

Ronan didn''t sing, his face grave. He watched Cordelia continually eating pickled plums.

After about an hour, the two hostesses left, leaving Ronan and Cordelia alone.

"Come here." He told Cordelia. His sudden words pulled Cordelia out of her snack-filled reverie.
