Chapter 132
Cordelia dove right back into work as soon as she got to the office, pletely forgetting about her
phone. It wasn''t until Brooklyn sent her a voice message that she remembered. Since herputer
couldn''t y voice messages, she had to search for her phone, but no luck.
She wondered if she left it in Ronan''s car at lunch. She called Ronan on the office phone to ask him if
he''d seen her phone.
"When did you sneak your phone into my pocket?" Ronan teased Cordelia, "I''m heading out to a
meeting now, I''ll bring it home for you tonight."
"Okay." After hanging up, Cordelia converted Brooklyn''s voice message into text. The gist of it was: "I
heard Adrian showed up today, and Deanna is still filming in the lobby. It''s such a tant provocation,
so shameless. How could Mr. Evans agree to let her film amercial here?!"
Cordelia responded with: "Just focus on your work."
"Alright, didn''t expect to get caught cking off by the wife of the president."
Cordelia didn''t reply. As for Brooklyn''s question, Cordelia understood. Deanna was, after all, his old
me, and lending her a venue for filming was no biggie.
Ronan went to Shelley''s room, Shelley was awake, her gazes soft.
"So you''re the one..."
Trina was about to speak but was cut off by Ronan. "You should leave for now."
Trina left reluctantly without finishing her sentence.
Dressed in expensive clothes, Ronan exuded an aura of nobility that had Trina obeying him without
thinking.
"You''re back?" said Shelley to Ronan.
"Yes."
"You know everything? Did De tell you?" Shelley continued.
"Yes." Ronan went along with Shelley''s words, but he had no idea what Cordelia had told him.
Shelley''s head was initially turned towards Ronan, but then she stared back at the ceiling, "Castiel can
finally rest in peace. He didn''t want De to tell you back then because he didn''t want you to feel guilty,
thinking you owed us something. He wanted you to move on."
Next, Shelley grasped Ronan''s hand, staring deeply into his eyes. That intense gaze was just like how
Cordelia asionally looked at him. A feeling of dread crept up on Ronan.
Shelley suddenly smiled, "Your eyes are much more beautiful than his. It is impossible to tell these are
his corneas. When he told me he was going to donate his eyes to you because you were a promising
young man who unfortunately couldn''t see, I was surprised. De even went to see you. Back then,
half your face were covered in gauze, and she felt so sorry for you. I used to wonder how painful it
would be to donate corneas, but I never thought that once people are dead, they don''t feel pain
anymore. Seeing you now, I know he''s not truly gone."
Shelley''s tears fell. She was probably thinking of Castiel, her husband.
Ronan''s heart surged with an unprecedented shock. He vaguely understood what Shelley was saying.
Castiel must have been Shelley''s husband, who had donated his corneas to him, and Cordelia knew
about this. This also exined why Shelley recognized him as soon as she woke up.
As for why Deanna wanted to take the credit, that was a question for her.
"Was De happy to see you?" Shelley asked, "Your name is Ronan, right?"
"Yes." Ronan answered with difficulty.
"De shouldn''t have told you. We were doing just fine living our own lives. She didn''t ask for any

anything." Shelley said anxiously.
"No."
Shelley finally breathed a sigh of relief. "So how did you find out?" Shelley asked again. As far as she
knew, only she and Cordelia knew about this.
"You just told me."
"Eh?" Shelley panicked, "You didn''t know about this?"
But that didn''t make sense. If Ronan didn''t know before, they should be strangers. Why would hee
to the hospital?
"Then how did you know I was here?" She had seen Ronan in his expensive clothes and thought
Cordelia was in financial trouble and had told him about this, which was why he had her transferred to
the hospital.
"I married your daughter."
Shelley''s lips moved as she tried to make sense of it. "You really didn''t know before?" she asked
Ronan again.
"I didn''t. And when Cordeliaes, don''t let her know that I already know, I don''t want her to feel
burdened." Ronan said, "I will get the best treatment for you."
Shelley nodded in despair, she had just woken up and had spilled this massive secret.
She made a big mistake.
