Chapter 58

    Chapter 58

Cordelia hit the sack in her dorm tonight.

Ronan didn''t text or call, which left Cordelia on pins and needles, clueless about what he was thinking.

The next day at work, the Training Center dropped a bombshell, "Friday''s training session has been

moved to today, with Mr. Evans taking the reins. He''ll be diving into corporate crisis management. Be

    there or be square."

The Training Center set up a chat group specifically for “Lumos Star”, which also included other

instructors and top dogs. Of course, Ronan was in the mix.

Ronan''s session was supposed to be next month, so why the sudden change of ns to today?

His thoughts were always a tough nut to crack and Cordelia couldn''t make heads or tails of it. If it

doesn''t make sense, then don''t rack your brains over it.

Brooklyn sent Cordelia a message, "Are we going this afternoon?"

Cordelia wanted to avoid Ronan like the gue. She decided she couldn''t give a damn about him

    anymore.

    "Nope," Cordelia replied.

"Your beef with him shouldn''t get in the way of your job."

"I don''t want to see him."

"Like it or not, he''s your hubby. You and Mr. Evans tied the knot, so not showing up will leave your

husband in the lurch. Will he be ticked off?"

Brooklyn must''ve been juggling too many chats and dropped the ball, identally posting her message

    in the training group instead.

Cordelia was also working and figured Brooklyn hadn''t seen her message since she didn''t respond, so

    she didn’t sweat it.

Until a coworker nudged Brooklyn and asked with wide eyes, "Cordelia and Mr. Evans got hitched?"

Brooklyn''s eyes popped, "How''d you know?"

"Didn''t you say so?" the coworker held up her phone.

Brooklyn tried to recall the message, but it was toote.

Brooklyn knew she''d stepped in it and felt majorly awkward.

There were over twenty people in the training group, and Cordelia was the only person from the

Finance Department. She was a bit slow on the uptake, but the news about her spread like wildfire.

By the time everyone was gossiping about "Mrs. Evans", Cordelia had a lightbulb moment: Who are

    they talking about?

Until Brooklyn awkwardly said, "Cordelia, you might wanna check the training group chatting."

Cordelia thought: It''s just an afternoon training session, what''s the big deal? But when she opened the

    group chat, she was gobsmacked.

    "Recall it."

"Toote now, punish me," Brooklyn sent a crying face emoji.

Cordelia thought, "I''m screwed. He specifically asked for our marriage to be hush-hush, now the cat''s

out of the bag and the wholepany knows. What''s he gonna do to me?"

Ronan was also in the training group, no clue if he saw it or not.

Coworkers were chirping about, "Cordelia''s pback game is strong this time, not letting Deanna off

the hook, first getting the boss to swap the microwave, now dropping the marriage bombshell. She’s a

    piece of work."

"Of course, Deanna is a strong rival, but it looks like her status is hanging by a thread."

It seemed like they wanted Cordelia to overhear, not mincing their words.

"Shush, she''s Mrs. Evans now. Let''s zip it or we''ll be in hot waterter."

    ......

Cordelia originally nned to skip the training, but considering she''d stirred up a ho''s nest, she

    wanted to gauge Ronan''s reaction.

In the afternoon, under everyone''s watchful eyes, Cordelia showed up in the training room.

She didn''t snag a seat in the front row, opting for the back row instead.

"This is all on you, you''vended me in hot water," Cordelia berated Brooklyn.

Brooklyn looked helpless, "I have no idea how it ended up in the training group. It was an honest

mistake. We were chatting when the group message popped up, I didn''t look closely."

Ronan took the stage, fired up hisptop, and got the ball rolling.

All eyes were on Cordelia in the back row, who kept her head down.

Ronan looked suave, tall andmanding, all business while teaching.

Throughout the session, Cordelia tried to read his poker face for any signs of his mood, but it was a lost

    cause.

After the session, Ronan assigned homework.

"There''s someone who initially didn''t want to see me, but ultimately showed respect and decided to

attend ss. Whateveres next, I believe this individual knows the drill. Tomorrow, please hand in

    your assignment to me directly."

Ronan wasughing, but it was far from warm or sincere, his eyes were as cold as ice.

He was being sarcastic, telling that person: challenge epted.

    All eyes were on Cordelia.

They also cottoned onto something: Mr. Evans saw Brooklyn''s message, but didn''t dispute it. So,

Ronan and Cordelia must''ve really gotten married.

Cordelia wished she could crawl into a hole. Her mind was in turmoil, thinking, “I''m done for.”
