Chapter 438 Treated As A Fool

Chapter 438 Treated As A Fool

Scarlett sleepily opened and rubbed her eyes. Upon getting up, she realized that Jack was looking

at her with a frown on his face. She reached out to touch his temple.

The moment that she moved, Jack took a step back. His frown turned into a look of pure disgust.

She sneered, "Do you really hate me that much? If that''s the case, why do you even want me to be

    with you?"

The lines on Jack''s face deepened. However, he was not in the mood to stand there and listen to

    her nonsense.

He was heading to the bathroom when Scarlett grabbed him by the arm. Tears were streaming

down her face. She demanded hysterically, "Howe you never touch me even when you''re

drunk? What on earth do you want me to do, Jack?"

Before she could even finish talking, he produced a wallet from his pocket. He took out a bank card

from it and handed it to her. "It''s all yours. The password is the same asst time. I don''t want to

    hear this nonsense anymore!"

It was happening all over again!

He behaved just like he had thest time. Still, Scarlett took the card. She tightened her hold on it,

    and the pain felt good.

In the cafe, Kailey had already found a seat. As soon as she spotted Scarlett, she raised her hand

to call her attention. "Scarlett, here!" she called out to her cousin, who immediately approached.

She nced at the menu, then turned it over and slid it across the table. Smiling, she said, "I don''t

know what you want, so I haven''t ordered yet."

Scarlett took off her scarf and sat down opposite Kailey. "Why have you called me over in such a

    hurry?"

She ordered a cup of coffee and returned the menu to the waiter. When the waiter left, Scarlett

looked up at her cousin, waiting for an answer.

Kailey rubbed her eyes and licked her lips. Then she lowered her head and stared at her hands. It

was clear that she wanted to say something, but, on second thought, decided against it. Scarlett

frowned. "Tell me what happened. Don''t be like this."

    "It''s about my shop..."

Kailey didn''t run a clothing store or a dessert shop with her friend. Instead, the two of them had

opened a small bar, believing that this would help them earn much faster.

Scarlett quietly took a sip of the coffee, which the waiter had just served. She waited for her cousin

    to continue.

Kailey exined, "It''s currently being redecorated, but we have identally spent too much on it.

Now, we don''t have enough left over to purchase any of the other goods that we need. I was

wondering if I could borrow more from you. " Before Scarlett could say anything, Kailey stretched

out her hand and waved five fingers in front of her. "This time, I''m asking that you lend me this. You

are so well-off now. It won''t be hard to loan me such an amount, right?"

"Fifty thousand dors?" Scarlett asked, hiding her irritation. She had the presence of mind to keep

    herself from rolling her eyes.

Kailey smiled sheepishly. "No. I need five hundred thousand dors."

"What?" Scarlett screamed, pounding on the table with both hands.

She stood up in disbelief. Immediately, Kailey held her hand and motioned for her to sit back down.

"Scarlett, you''re making a scene. Everyone''s looking at you."

Scarlett cleared her throat and straightened her clothes in an attempt to pretend that nothing had

happened. She sat down and looked grimly at Kailey. "Do you think I''m a fool? You''ve taken a

million dors from me, and now you''re asking for another five hundred thousand dors. How can I

produce all this?" "Scarlett, don''t lie to me. The clothes you bought at the mall alone were worth that

    amount. Isn''t that right?"

Kailey was ying the same card again. She put her hands together in front of her as if in prayer.

"You only have to ask Jack. It''s as easy as that. In any case, I wouldn''t know where to get the

money that I need. If I don''t have the additional five hundred thousand dors, the one million from

you would be put to waste. Do you want that to happen?"

Upon hearing this, Scarlett let out a heavy sigh. After some thought, she said, helplessly, "Okay, I''ll

transfer the amount to your ount tomorrow."

Meanwhile, Rachel seemed to have found peace. All these articles about Jack had been on the

Inte for so many days. Eventually, everyone grew tired of them. The novelty had worn off, and

people''s interest in him had gradually faded away. Now, people were hearing much less about him

and Scarlett. Articles about them now appeared only once every two or three days.

And she hadn''t seen Jack since that day.

Julie mentioned him asionally. Duringte-night trips to the kitchen when she needed water, she

had seen Jack''s car parked in the yard. Each time, he simply sat in the car.

Rachel didn''t know what he intended to do, and she wasn''t interested in knowing. Today, Rachel

slowly fixed her clothes and carefully sat up. The doctor set the instruments down onto a tray and

said with a smile, "Your baby is in good condition. Everything''s normal. There''s nothing to worry

    about."

    "Thank you, doctor."

Rachel had always been told that her belly was too small. At first, she had been worried that she

wasn''t eating well, leading to the malnourishment of her baby. Hearing the doctor''s words today

    brought her immense relief.

Julie, who was standing beside them, took the B ultrasound report, folded it neatly. She reached out

a hand to help Rachel up. Beaming with delight, she asked, "Miss, how about we go to the

supermarket together and see if there''s anything there that you''d like?"

It had be challenging to choose which foods to buy. After moving from counter to counter and

spending some time in front of them, she still couldn''t decide which items to grab. Seeing that

Rachel''s appetite was worsening, Julie came up with such a suggestion.

It was either this or staying at home doing nothing, so Rachel agreed.

As soon as the two women had gone, Jack entered the room. The doctor did not seem surprised.

He simply gave Jack a copy of the report he had given Julie just moments ago. With a kind smile,

he said, "I admire your consistency, but I''m a little curious. Why do you keep these little visits from

    your wife?"

Jack smiled bitterly. "I just want to surprise her." He wanted nothing more than to be with Rachel

    during her checkups.

However, there was no chance of that ever happening.

Upon their arrival at the supermarket, Julie grabbed a shopping cart and pushed it toward where

Rachel was standing and studying various goods. Some time ago, she had wanted to eat

everything in sight. Now, she had no appetite at all.

Perhaps this was the circle of life. Both pain and happiness were constant parts.

Shortly, they came to the vegetable section. Rachel grabbed a handful and ced them all into the

shopping cart. "You''d better cook some vegetables in the evening to replenish the body with

    vitamins."

"Okay," Julie agreed. She was already thinking about whether it was better to boil them or fry them.

The two of them walked in silence. Rachel then stopped in front of a freezer and scooped up a box

of pre-cut pork belly. As she did so, a proud female voice caught her attention.

"Well, you can take whatever you want to eat. I just came into a lot of money."

It was the first time that Rachel had heard anyone talk about themselves like this. She smiled to

    herself.

The girl''spanion was in disbelief. "Really? I heard that you lost your job and are now running a

bar. How were you able to get your hands on so much money? Don''t tell me that you''ve be

    someone''s mistress.

I don''t think a rich man would be into you," she remarked.

At once, the first girl pped her friend on the forehead. "My cousin is dating a rich man."

That''s why I keep saying my cousin is so stupid, but look at how lucky she is! Do you know who her

    current boyfriend is?"

"I don''t know any rich men. I don''t have any guesses."

"Well, some time ago, the news repeatedly featured my cousin and the president of MK Group,

Jack. I don''t know how much he has given my cousin in total. Anyway, as long as I keep praising

her, she would give me as much money as I want. I told her that I needed a million dors to run a

bar, and she gave me just that! Actually, five hundred thousand dors would have been enough!"

The girlughed, not making any attempt to lower her voice as they were in a public ce. Instead,

she spoke so loudly that it seemed as though she was afraid that others couldn''t hear her. "Today, I

told my cousin that the goods that I need cost five hundred thousand dors. She told me she would

give me the money tomorrow. I can use so much of it on myself!"

The twodies walked away, and their voices faded with them.

Rachel stood still in front of the fridge, still holding the box of pork. She frowned tightly.

Julie, who had been staying nearby, had also heard everything. She set the shopping cart to the

side and walked up to Rachel. "Miss, should we inform Mr. Fu?"

"Let''s talk about it when hees back."

Rachel was a little hesitant. She didn''t know if speaking up made her the viin.

After all, everyone knew that Scarlett meant a lot to Jack. It seemed that he valued her even more

    than he had valued Celine.

Rachel smiled wryly. She thought that it was rather unnecessary for her to meddle. After all, money

    was nothing to Jack.

After the long walk back from the supermarket, Rachel''s legs felt sore. She went straight to her

room and nned to get some rest. She found herself picking up her phone and putting it back

down. She had not made up her mind about possibly telling Jack about what she had heard at the

    supermarket.

On the one hand, she didn''t want to meddle in other people''s business; on the other hand, she

really didn''t want Jack to be yed like a fool.
