Chapter 547 My Great-granddaughter
—
Before he left, Edmund made quite an effort to persuade Sally to go to the An Manor and stay with him
just for two days. However, Sally simply kept on turning him down no matter what he tried to say.
Sally had never been away from Ca from the moment she was born, so she had gotten so used to
having her mom around at all times.
The only way she would agree to stay in the An Manor was if Ca was going to stay there with her as
well.
For that reason, no matter how hard Edmund tried to twist her arm, Sally was still very reluctant to
leave with the grandpa she had just met.

On the following day, Ca and Terence brought Sally along with them to pay Nichs a visit.
The ce Nichs was staying in was a private sanatorium surrounded by ake. It boasted of such a
wonderful scenery on top of its first-ss service and medical facilities.
People who lived here probably wouldn''t really feel like they were staying in a hospital at all. They
could enjoy being looked after by the doctors while the mood was that of being on a vacation.
Right now, what Nichs needed the most was to have a rxing atmosphere and afortable state
of mind.
"Ca, just let Sallye in first, we''ll go see grandpater." Just as she was about to enter the room,
Terence grabbed Ca''s hand and stopped her in her tracks.
In his current condition, they needed to give him a bit of time to wrap his mind around everything that
was happening.
Ca didn''t get right away why Terence would say something like that at all. In that situation, she was
under the assumption that Nichs could be even more emotional if he met Sally before they
show up in front of him.
That being said, when she saw the way Sally acted, she realized in an instant what Terence had in
mind when he said that.
"Great-grandfather, this flower is for you!"
With a carnation in her hand, Sally trotted straight toward Nichs.
Quietly sitting in a wheelchair, Nichs was basking in the sunshine with his eyes closed. When he
heard a voice which seemed to be calling out to him, he opened his eyes and put on his sses to
check who it could be. As he stared at the lovely girl, who appeared from out of the blue, he beamed
her a smile and asked, "... Oh, where did you get those flowers, sweetheart?"
Waving at her, Nichs asked the little girl toe closer. At that moment, he simply thought that she
was a rtive of one of the other patients who came there to y and have some fun.
The only people who were staying there were the elderly, and most of their great-grandchildren were
significantly older than her.
"I specially requested this one from mommy because I wanted to give it to my great-grandfather as a
present."
Sally batted her big innocent eyes as she came up to him.
Looking at her great-grandfather, who seemed to have lost a bit of color in his face but nevertheless
still quite amiable and kind, Sally exined.
"Oh? You picked this one especially for me? That means I certainly need to take it then. Come on,
sweetheart, would you be so kind as to let this old man know your name?"
Nichs rarely ever was in high spirits, but right now, he was brimming with happiness as he took the
flower from her hand.
"My name is Sally An!"

Sally answered in an instant.
Hearing her response, Nichs was left a bit dumbfounded for a long while. Then, a smile crept onto
his face as he remarked, "We share the samest name. Do you happen to know your father''s name,
dear?"
People with thisst name were quite thin on the ground. Given that theirst name was An, Nichs
thought that there was a good chance he knew this little girl''s father.
After all, he knew every single person who could afford to live in this sanitarium with that surname.
He was cudgeling his brains about who that person was, and that he was lucky to have been blessed
with such an adorable and beautiful granddaughter.
"My father''s name is..."
She usually just called him "daddy", so Sally had to think long and about what her father''s name was.
After a while, she reached out a finger and told him, "I always hear mom saying that name. It''s Ter..."
Terence An! Dad''s name is Terence An!"
Only her mom had the guts to call him using his full name. Others simply addressed him as "Mr.
Terence".
...
Watching from just a couple of meters away, when Terence heard his daughter shout out his name, he
smiled wryly while looking at the woman who was standing right beside him.
"Babe, I think it would be the best for you to stop calling me by my name. Just call me dear husband or
something like that. Look how much our daughter sounds just like you."
ring at him, Ca said, "Okay, fine. But only for as long as you promise not to upset me."
...
When Nichs heard Sally blurt that out, he was at such a loss for a moment. Then, he got curious
and asked, "What about your mother, Sally? What''s her name?"
Nichs knew that Terence had gotten remarried to another woman who gave birth to a daughter, so
he couldn''t help but wonder whether this little girl standing in front of him was that woman''s child or not.
"Grandpa Nichs!"
Ca called out to him from a distance as she walked toward Nichs.
Taking in a deep breath, she tried to gather her thoughts little by little. She was well aware of the fact
that she couldn''t get too emotional because things like that could affect the old man in some way.
When she saw her mothering, Sally happily darted toward her.
"Mommy!" she yelled excitedly.
As Ca walked over, Nichs stared at her and Terence, who was walking right behind her, in
amazement. At that point, he came to a sudden realization. He thought that this little girl was probably
Ca''s child.
The second he saw that Ca was safe and sound and standing right in front of him, he more or less
could tell that he was right about this kid after all.
"... Ca, you... you came back?"
Nichs was having a bit of a hard time trying to contain his excitement as he reached out his hand
toward her.
Promptly reaching for his hand back, Ca squatted down right beside him and replied, "Yes, I came
back, grandpa, and I also have your great-granddaughter with me."
Afraid that getting a bit too excited all of a sudden would be bad for his health, Terence opted not to tell
Nichs about the news right away.
As it turned out, it looked like he made the right choice about letting Sallye to him first because it
seemed to have put Nichs''s mind at ease.
Nichs''s vision were getting blurry as it was welling up with tears. When he was to calm himself
down, he held Ca''s hand as he merrily nodded his head.
"Thank the heavens you made it back safely. It''s really good to have you back! This is truly a blessing
to Terence and, of course, our family."
His grandson was quite a devoted man. For that reason, Ca''s disappearance had been eating him
up, so much so that it almost killed him.
Even though they resorted to using hypnotherapy in an attempt to keep his mind off of Ca, Nichs
knew deep in his heart that it wasn''t right to do that to Terence.
Because he didn''t want his grandfather to keep worrying too much about him, Terence decided to
marry a random woman to put his mind at ease.
As his beloved grandfather, there''s no way he wouldn''t have known that, out of everyone in the entire
world, his grandson was only capable of loving a single woman—Ca.
Now that Ca had returned, the agonizing pain that Terence had been going through would finally
With a look of satisfaction on his face, Nichs smiled and nodded. He enthusiastically held her hand
and said, "Ca, this little girl, is she your daughter with Terence? And my very own great-
granddaughter? !"
"Yes, she''s your great-granddaughter. But Sally was just a nickname I had given her. So, we would like
for you to be the one to decide on what her given name is going to be, grandpa." Hunkering down in
front of him, Ca tried her best not to break into tears and put on a smile.
It had been four long years. When sheid her eyes on Nichs and noticed how much he had aged,
she felt so sad. In truth, it took the best of her to not let it show on her face.
"Alright then, I came up with a name years ago. It''s... Oh, look at me. Why can''t I think of the name
now?"
Nichs eximed as he racked his brains to remember the name he chose. As he was doing that, he
gently rubbed his grey hair. If it were a girl, then he would have wanted to call her...
"Oh, I think I''ve already forgotten what it was. How about Sandra? We can name her Sandra. I hope
she can live a happy life, free of problems and hardships."
A smile appeared on Ca''s face and she nodded in agreement, "Sandra An, Sandra... It has such a
nice ring to it."
"Ca, you must have had to endure a lot during these past four years."
Nichs looked at Ca who seemed a bit emaciated, asking with great concern.
Ca quickly shook her head trying to reassure him, "It''s alright, grandpa. It''s all in the past now. Don''t
think too much about it, I didn''t really suffer that much. I was able to meet such a nice family. They let
me into their household and I experienced living such a peaceful life throughout those four years."
"... Oh, is that so? That''s good to hear. One good deed deserves another, Ca. Those children you
saved back then would definitely feel grateful to you."
When he heard her say that she didn''t suffer a lot, Nichs felt a sense of relief and gave her a pat on
the back of her hand.

Watching all of this, Terence went ahead and asked the nurse to bring in two low stools for them to use.
Holding out his hand toward Ca who had been squatting next to Nichs, he said, "Babe, go sit on
this while you talk with Grandpa."
Pulling her over to the stool, he went on and added, "We found out that their father is still missing and
the mother had already passed away, so I would have to put them up for adoption. I''m nning to
mentor those children in the future. Who knows? Maybe they can even work at ourpany."
Since Ca had put her life on the line to save those children, Terence thought it would just be right to
look after them. It was only by doing this that he could be sure that Ca''s effort wouldn''t be put to
waste.
