Ca had just finished eating. She put down her chopsticks, then wiped the corner of her mouth with a
tissue. She turned to Terence who was sitting beside her and hesitated before saying, "Terence, there''s
something I''d like to talk to you about..."
After calling Sophie toe in and clear away the dishes, Terence sat down and looked at Ca. He
could tell that she was nervous so he patiently waited for her to speak. But Ca hesitated for a long
time. She didn''t know how to tell Terence or where to start.
"Have you decided what to do?"
Ca was stunned when she heard Terence''s question. She slowly looked up and turned to him.
"Y-you knew?" she asked.
Terence frowned and let out a sneer. To contain his emotions, he clenched his fists firmly. Ignoring her
question, he asked instead, "Ca, do you know what it means to be engaged to Noah?"
Ca bit her lip and took a breath before saying, "Terence, please let me exin. My engagement with
Noah is temporary. You know that you''re the only one that I love.
Allen had just passed away so the Hua family is in chaos. And since I''m now part of the family, I should
share at least some of the burden as any sensible family member would do."
She paused for a while, trying to perceive Terence''s reaction. Then, she continued, "Noah has
promised me that he will cancel the engagement as soon as everything in the family''s state of affairs is
in control."
The moment Ca''s voice had faded away, Terence earnestly red at her and stated in a low, husky
voice, "Ca, do you think it''s that simple?
Do you think Noah will let you go so easily once you get engaged to him? If you really believe that, then
you are being too naive."
If one looked closer, it was clear in her bright eyes that she felt a little confused. Ca shook her head
before responding, "I didn''t think about that. I only thought that it''s just an engagement, not a wedding.
He can''t force me to push through with the wedding if I don''t want to."
Terence got up and sat beside Ca. He grabbed her hand slowly. Then, he said, "Ca, do you really
know him that well? You don''t know what he''s capable of. He already found a way to force you into this
engagement. Do you think that he wouldn''t find a way to coerce you in getting married to him?
Have you forgotten that you belong to me? How could you do this to me? How could you just let me
see you marry another man? It''s really cruel of you to put me in this position! How could you make me
suffer from these thoughts and feelings of losing you?"
Terence tried really hard to remain calm but the more he spoke, the more his emotions ran wild.
Unconsciously, he had grabbed Ca''s hand so tightly that she felt like her arm would fall off any
minute.
As she stared at Terence whose emotions were out of control, Ca pulled away from his grip. She
immediately hugged him on the waist and eximed, "Terence, I won''t marry him. I won''t! Please,
believe me, okay?"
With his eyebrows deeply furrowed, Terence removed her hands and turned her around so he could
look at her directly.
"Ca, look at me!" he screamed when she turned her head away and refused to look at him.
He continued, "I''m telling you now that once you get engaged to Noah, it would mean that you''re no
longer my girlfriend and no longer my woman. Have you thought about every single consequence that
will be brought about by that?
Have you really made up your mind?"
The truth is that there''s no guarantee in the world that they live in. Once a choice was made, one must

Ca could only shake her head desperately before saying, "No, Terence, I don''t want to be separated
from you. I don''t want this."
